I don't think Hillary deserved four pinocchios. I would have given her 2, or using politifact's model "half-true".

Comey's testimony Thursday actually did give compelling evidence to the claim that Hillary was being honest. These were

1. That there was no strong evidence Hillary knew she was sending or receiving classified info.
2. That based on classification rules which state that the a classified document must be labeled "classified" in the header, it was reasonable for Hillary to infer the documents weren't classified.

This is what I think Hillary was alluding to when she said that Comey showed that her statements were "truthful"..

I think the problem though is the word truthful. Truthful implies not just that what you are saying you believe to be true, but is also actually true. But even while Hillary may have been honest in what she said, what she said turned out not to actually be correct.

If Hillary had said that Comey showed she was being honest, it wouldn't have been a problem. But truthful conveys something different.

So as I said it's a half truth. Hillary wasn't lying, at least there's no real strong evidence to suggest she was. So she totally has a right to say she was being honest. But just because she was being honest doesn't mean that everything she was saying was true.

I think the Washington Post screwed up covering her statement though, and was a bit unfair to Hillary.
 
So, my bf doesn't follow politics closely. He listens when I go on and on about it with the same glazed over look I wear when he talks about engines and cars....and wrassling.

But, he's a good judge of how this shit is penetrating outside the bubble. And, ya, he said customers at work were talking about it. One of the guys that works with him is a former Marine. He was going off about it to him yesterday. I actually think this did some real, deep lasting damage. My bf even knew (without me telling him 93,499 times) that Hillary had pulled ahead, and he was making the connection not from the convention but to Trump being a pile of steaming dog shit. This makes me think her bump might be more of a long lasting thing.

I can't see Trump shifting gears into a traditional campaign. That would necessitate admitting his original strategy was a bad idea and that he should have been doing something completely different the whole time.

He's all in on the speeches/twitter/rallies thing and when it inevitably fails he can just complain it was rigged, the media was biased, voters were stupid, he didn't even try that hard because he didn't want to be president, etc.

Requires the absolute minimum investment of time and energy which is another reason he prefers it, it's cheap.

I mean, we can safely say anyone voting for Trump is either uneducated as all hell, or a bad person

But what the hell is he doing with the money he pulled in last month (and this month)? He still has $0 in ads reserved.

We were told he would start ramping up ad spending after his convention.
 
So Politico's story about how some more DNC staff were prepping their resignations was sort of half right. They were, just not to any future leak.

So I really doubt Wikileaks has anything of value remaining.

Exactly. I mean, okay, it's gross, but I'd be a liar if I didn't see how attacking immigrants doesn't help Trump with his base. (It pisses anyone off who has a heart and a brain, but whatever). I get it. But, I never, ever thought he would be so stupid as to attack veterans. I mean...this is the easiest "DON'T TOUCH" in the world. Even moreso when the solider in question gave his life for this country. It's just...it baffles the mind.

So Obama is going to be vacationing in Martha's Vineyard next week (as he tends to).

As a direct result, I will not be able to charge my electric car at work.

No really. I park down the end of the building where the external outlets are, a literal stones throw away from where they will be parking Airforce One (and where they are currently staging for his arrival, attaching the helicopter blades to Marine One or whatever the chopper is called and all that).

Last year, secret service came and told me to move my car. No one else has to, because no one else parks down there. Personally I think they just don't want Obama to see my sweet ride and to want to go for a spin as a passenger in a two seated vehicle, which would clearly be a headache for the secret service if the two of us go whizzing about in my EV and they just have to drive along behind us or whatever.

I can't complain about having to plug in at home and pay for the electricity too much either, because right now... the state are paying the electricity bills for the building my car is plugged into.

Unfortunately I won't get to meet Obama or anything really cool like that. Oh well.

I mean, as someone who has always lived in a swing state, you get used to it. You just tune it out, really. You kinda get sick of them, but not to the extent that you'd be less likely to vote. Those NBC numbers are campaign and PAC spending, so far as I know.

Last month he spent $7 million on travel. I'm sure July was a lot higher. But a lot of the money he raises is going to the GOP since he outsourced his GOTV operation. He's not holding onto that money. But ya,,,he's a mess.

Pretty sure he forgave his loan in name only.

I'll be willing to bet than when this election is over, a lot of the money donated to his campaign will end up in Trump affiliated companies and people.

I just got Playstation Vue after not having TV for six years. For the ten years before that, I had Tivo and was really good at skipping. So honestly I guess I don't remember what it is like.

Vue isn't great for skipping, so I guess I'll find out. What with being in Ohio and all.

Really telling that Trump is only playing in FL/OH/PA

Like yes the winning combo is Romney states plus those three, but he could win those three and lose North Carolina and it all goes up in smoke.

Furthermore the Senate battleground this year is heavily in swing states so that bodes well for Democrats. One or two might slip through but it's hard to imagine the GOP doing super well if Clinton is dominating.
 
Telling how little the Clinton campaign is putting into PA compared with other states given how essential it is for Trump since he can't win VA.

If the map from 2012 doesn't change at all and we have the same swing states all Clinton needs is VA and FL and it's game over for Trump.

Guy Cecil (chair of Priorities USA, the biggest pro-Clinton SuperPAC) said the next states they would look to play in are Georgia and Indiana.

GA is backed up by public polling, but I'm really curious as to what they're seeing in Indiana. Robopolling is banned in Indiana so that might just have to be a case where we follow the money. If Team Clinton invests there it would mean there's a real race.
 
The challenge I see with being silent is that he will continue on the bus tour and continue to speak. How can you be silent when everyday he's saying something stupid?

I'm really curious how strong Bayh will actually perform. It seems like him doing well would at the very least mean an environment for Clinton to do well exists.

I wouldn't be shocked if her polling bump was permanent at this point. Trump has nothing really to delay the inevitable which is him getting destroyed pretty badly by Hilary on November 8th.

Yeah. I'm thinking he has lawyers determining how best to funnel money back to himself. It's what he's done repeatedly in the past, according to that long-read NYT article about his business practices: either not invest his own money, or shuffle it around such that he legally gets out of responsibility for it. For example, he has had a company buy back a property he had a personal loan on, transforming a personal liability into a corporate one.
 
If Hillary pulls off NC, Georgia, and Zona, along with the other obvious swing states...

I don't know if I will be able to handle Fox News. I mean, it will be glorious. I will watch Hannity melt down on TV in a way we've never seen before.

But it might be too much. I can only take in so much in one evening.
