Yea I thought there was also. I remember watching a stream and the guy went backed and looked at the planets he found which then show all the individual things he found.
Click options then discoveries. You can then click on the solar system and individual planets and moons. It's there

Press OPTIONS on the controller. It shows all the solar systems, planets and things and creatures you've discovered. You can also rename them from this screen.

Well i haven't played yet, I was just responding to the other guy wondering the same thing, but good to know. Thanks.

It sucks that my first planet is a toxic planet filled with mushrooms and crab... Lizard.... Thingy... Lots of huge monolith of resources though.

I got out of there ASAP and found myself warping to the 'nearest' space station.

So everyone is playing in the same galaxy but we will most likely never encounter another player?

The universe (multiple galaxies) is so big that, according to Sean (game creator), it is very unlikely any two players will ever encounter each other. He doesn't mean friends, he means anybody. As Sean tweeted earlier, this is not a multiplayer game, i.e. this ain't an MMO.

Just some random thoughts from a few hours play.

You are obviously meant to revisit your start planet as there are many things on it you aren't equipped enough to do, I found a manufacturing plant with a door I can't open and an observatory that needed a specific crafted item to enter.

Don't like the dumbed down ship surface flight, the auto altitude is just bad.

I like the maths puzzles!

There is no map?, does one ever become available?, navigation can be an issue.

It can become a struggle to know which items / species you've scanned.

There are ALOT of resources.

You pretty much can't do anything without resources, what you take off?, that'll cost you plutonium, your suit needs a constant stream of resources too.

Blueprints I've found so far aren't worth crafting, they don't offer enough of a stat boost, and take up a valuable inv slot.

There is ALOT of inv juggling.

You can't mine (at least I can't so far) everything, only things that show up as a mesh when scanning, so you can't terraform the planet.

Some of the creatures just look........bad?, they just look like bad spore creatures!

I sorta like the "choose your own adventure" options you get from aliens and monoliths, but I wonder if there may be a lack of depth.

Overall, an interesting game, barely scratched the surface yet.

I think you need to upgrade your tool to be able to mine ground, rather than resources that are on the surface

Inventory juggling gets easier when you get exosuit upgrades and such. More slots so less worrying :)

Also you'll end up with lots of resources to the point that taking off isn't that big of a deal. Or you'll get a better ship that uses less plutonium in order to take off etc.

I just realized I've been playing for 4 hours straight and it's been so damn amazing every minute.

My first planet was a snow/forest world similar to that Wooded screenshot posted earlier. I thought there was no animal life until I went into a cave and got attacked by some big ass Ant-like creatures so I got the Hell outta there.

My second planet was God Damn terrifying. The sky was blood red, and the first creature I encounter upon leaving my ship is a FUCKING FLYING TENTACLE HEADCRAB!

It was the stuff of nightmares, but luckily it was docile and I stayed far away from them. There was tons of other creatures on that planet also.

Since then I've been smashing through galaxies on my way to the center. Fantastic game, and huge props to the dev team.

Look at it on the pause screen, on the left. Memorise it's name. Then go to the galactic map and look for it.
you can then make a waypoint for it in free exploration mode, and it will be very visible even from far out then. I'm in this exact position, warped to my first system but want to go back and between the two for a while.

Going to carve my way through a humid jungle planet I found in the new system, so much more inviting than my first one. There are oceans and tons of flora with resources, I'll load up and then warp back once I have the antimatter and sell everything I can high in the first system. Then the next time I go I'll know what the best things to collect are. Eventually I'm going to buy one of those damn
Vy'keen
ships. Definitely doing this before progressing the "story" or whatever is going on any further.

4am. Have to crash for work or there's no hope.

Feel bad for people who have been crashing. This has pretty much rocked my socks off so far

Yes, the servers are down. The game works in 'single player', i.e. without any server, so you don't notice unless you go to the OPTIONS menu (a smart design choice).

If you tap R1 while stationary, your character swipes the weapon as an attack.

If you press a direction at the same time as R1 your character lunges in that direction. This is really useful as a dodge but also does decent damage.

If you lunge and hold X to start jetpacking, you'll use the lunge speed to get way more jetpack velocity.

Cool thanks.
Will come in handy when I finally start playing.

Gotta dive out of this OT now lol.

sigh my preload didnt download for some reason, so i get home from work and its taking forever to download (no its not my connection, getting 290mbps)

21 minutes left...the wait, its torture lol

oh god still around 12 hours till EU launch. Game is preloaded and i keep checking countdown and hoping for a miracle where they release few hours early LOL.

I wanna hit my head to wall and sleep till the launch hour.

It sucks. I have to wait until tomorrow evening before I can actually start it up for the first time.

Starter planet has a lot of small pyramid esque rocks, plus a lot of life. Already went to it's two moonsand it's great to see it almost fill up the whole sky when you look up. Then you can pulse jump there in 2 seconds. Great stuff

Loving this game. I keep pausing it to read this thread and also kind of soak in the fact that I've spent four hours on this one fucking planet. Which isn't a complaint, it's an absolute cry for help as this game will be the death of me this I'm sure lol. I love exploration games and having beacons and points of interest pop up so often on this planet is filling me with so much glee. I haven't even entered space yet and I might not even get to that before I head to bed. This game is so good, I'm so filled with awe.

There will undoubtedly be those who don't enjoy this game. It's slow paced and there's a poop ton of on foot traversal (helped in part by the melee dash trick) and for some that will be tedious. But as someone who loves exploring the unknown and as someone who loves everything about space - this game is the bomb. I'm so happy for Sean Murray and his tiny team at Hello Games. This is going to be very well received by those who like this type of game.

Here's a shot I just took on my home planet. It's very cold at night here and I can't wait to get off of here and explore those big floating rocks in the distance.

My starter planet was also toxic, with acid rain. I had to duck into the caves a few times in order to survive long enough to find the resources to repair my suit and ship. Now, I've been stuck exploring on my 3rd planet for over two hours. Just as i was about to leave, i find this weird pod, so I go over to investigate and inside is a computer terminal that upgrades my suit inventory space! If I can find an outpost to sell somewhere on this planet, I could stay here for another 2 hours easily.

So I have to ask, what did everyone name their starter planet? Mine is Eden Prime I...

So about how many types of resources / "ingredients" are there? Based on the stream it seems like the same 4 or 5, but it would be cool if there were lots more with other special uses.

Woah, just back and have a bunch of private and twitter messages about the fps - sorry for not jumping back in sooner; it's been a hectic few days with little sleep. Apologies to everyone for my error and the confusion - it was just an honest mistake.

Just found a cave on a planet with HUNDREDS of (minor item spoiler I guess?)
Vortex Cubes, and there is a trading bot right outside the entrance. Got my magnate status trophy in about 20 minutes

I NMS-ified my avatar today :D

Having watched a couple streams, I can say there are indeed way more ingredients. The ones you saw are just the most common ones.

I'm quite interested to see how this will fare with those who brought it in the coming weeks, I am a little concerned about the lasting appeal.

Anyone know how to open the steel reinforced doors? I've been running into them on every outpost on this planet :/ I even have an upgraded laser!

ok i am fucked... game crashes each time i warp and ive tried 10 times and it keeps happening

It's a bug. They mention in the patch notes they believed it was caused by the hyperdrive rule exploit, but it looks like they haven't fully fixed it. The bad news, it will take ~1 week to get a patch out if they fix it soonish.

Had a really good run on this last night. Found loads of suit storage upgrades, some crazy alien stuff and a gold mountain that I turned into a giant Emmental cheese sculpture. Gave some plants and creatures stupid names and had a blast...

I had high hopes for NMS and couldn't wait for the PC version to drop on Friday and I am far from disappointed.

I spent 3 hours on my first planet, which was toxic, and due to that didn't really explore that much of it. I still discovered a lot of flora and fauna and found plenty of trading gear and minerals. I'm loving it so far, it's everything I expected it to be.

The galaxy map is fucking insane, like it's never-ending.....this shit is blowing my mind right now, I need a beer.

Just took my first death like a champ.

Was attacked by three hostile ships after exiting a planet, couldn't warp jump away because it was locked out, and they were faster than I was. I tried to fight, but died a quick death.

Not once did I see that happen in any of the streams.

This happened to me only a minute out from the trade post. I only killed one of the two.

It was pretty fun dog fighting, but I needed a better ship.
