Looking at some of these new screens while sitting at work. Looks great.

All i can say is i am going to be so late getting up tomorrow morning >_> damn midnight release times should at least set it to 8pm or something and let people have a bit of a binge.

I found a planet that matches my ship.

For those with enough to compare against, how are the FPS and traversal mechanics? Acceleration, dead zones, all o' dat jazz.

Does it feel satisfying? Is it accurate? Or does it feel like bob-basic debug camera mode shenanigans?

To put it another way, is it TW3 or Bloodborne?

Really sad to hear about the crashing. I've played about 15 hours and haven't experienced a single technical issue.

ok i am fucked... game crashes each time i warp and ive tried 10 times and it keeps happening

What happens? FWIW warping can take a long time depending on how far away the target system is. Like upwards of 1-2 minutes.

I've warped twice and both times I thought it had crashed.

I feel you, but I think saying there isn't a "game" there is disingenuous considering you lay out the actual game in the above paragraph. Not enjoying the mechanics is fine, but saying it isn't a game is wrong.

I haven't played it and maybe I'll feel the same but there is a game there whether you enjoy it or not.

There was no disingenuity meant, I guess the disconnect between a game and an experience is my personal opinion, I am sure for others the experience of exploring countless different planets is enough of a game to keep them engaged.

For me, the mechanics aren't evolved enough for me to consider it gamified enough to hold my attention for long, I'm a huge flight sim fan, and the flying mechanics are way too dumbed down for me.

Time will tell I guess.

I want a game to be immersive, deep and for it to have an addictive gameplay loop. I guess what i'm asking is... won't the game get boring after a while?

I'm afraid I can't answer that without being accused of being disingenuous.

Too hard to tell right now because I don't know how varied it's going to get but right now I'm really impressed with the variety and the inventory management and upgrading everything has been really satisfying for me. This helps with the menus bein'g really nice to use.

Is there a ton of inventory management in this game ? Is there much action to be had , I know you can attack freighters etc but sounds like it's abit if a grind to be powerful enough to do that .

Is there any point in exploring planets beyond where you first enter , do you find more unique things , different animals etc , or is it basically land / mine / talk to dude and leave for the next planet ?

have i already broken the game?

landed my ship on a super tall column with nothing on top and no way to climb up, and the game autosaved there. just reloaded but i can't take off again because i don't have enough fuel for the launch thrusters. i guess dying will bring me back to the top?

what can i do beyond deleting my save :/

FPS mechanics are not good at all, don't go in expecting a shooter though because it isn't one. Traversal mechanics are fine to be honest, they are basic but they work. Flight mechanics are a bit too basic, especially when flying over planets, I would have liked to be able to fly lower to the ground for example.

Walk to a nearby base and you should be able to call your ship over to you, just need to craft a bypass chip which are quite cheap to craft.
Next time park with more care :p

If I buy the game now, will I miss out on some preorder items?

Went to PSN to look and I did not see any text about preorder bonus that had been there before and saw no DLC either.

Yes to all of that.

Inventory managements gets easier when you start getting more slots to use and such.

Grabbing rare materials can make your ship desirable for pirates. So exiting planets you can be attacked which makes for some fun dogfighting.

Use your jetpack

Thanks for the reply! Maybe i should take the chance and buy the game. I usually don't buy games until i've read what the critics have to say... but maybe i should make an exeption for this game.

Amazon I love you, just received my copy (a day early).

Go to an outpost, craft a Bypass Chip and summon your ship.
Or gather some Plutonium for the launch thrusters. You don't sound stuck, am I missing something?

playstation gives a error and kicks me out of the game

it worked after trying a few more times

Spent 30 mins last night flying in a straight line. It's crazy how big this game is.

First planet and the local animal life tried to kill me, then the little sentinels flying round took offence to my slaughter of said animals. Found a cave and spent 10minutes hiding.

Love this game.

5 straight hours and I finally forced myself off.

It's a pretty staggering achievement in terms of scale and I really don't think they oversold any aspect of the game. Feels like its pretty much exactly what Sean always said the game was.

I have no idea how long it will be able to hold my interest or if I'll get bored but right now I feel like I'm going to be obsessed with it for at least a little while. Nothing has felt repetitive and the gameplay loop is extremely satisfying.

This is a great social game too. Get in a party of friends with the game and its a non-stop back and forth of showing and telling about cool stuff you're interacting with. This game is going to destroy my Share button.

For me it absolutely is deep and has an addictive gameplay loop. It's genuinely fun.

It's not immersive all the time, but you get these moments of absolute immersion. The best thing about it IMO is that there's actually a story here, and there's a really deep/huge lore. Last night I kept finding ruins which revealed and alien race's lore, and meant to finish at midnight but kept going till 1.15am just because of a really, really addictive 'one more ruin...' vibe.

There are several races and a bigger plot/overarching narrative, too. I don't think I'll get bored for at least 50 hours here. I'm 15 hours in and still feel like I've barely scratched the surface.

Jesus. Hopefully it doesn't come back! Maybe try playing offline if it keeps happening?

in the options, you can restore to a previous save. give that a shot if nothing else works.

Man, I didn't mean you were deliberately doing it, but there straight up is a game here. You not liking it is completely separate..

Oops played 5 hours. It feels like I've really not figured much out at all but that's ok. Thus far, I'm liking it. It seems to me to be pretty much exactly what I was excepting out of it, which is cool.

Hello Games sure do deserve every sale they get. It's a proper passion project for Sean and the team and it really shows. Mind blowing that they went from Joe Danger, to this. And in my opinion they've pulled off everything they wanted to achieve. Plus you'll be getting free updates in the coming months.

I'd say go for it ;) There is plenty of footage out there to make a decision I think. If you're really not sure. Hold out.

Your best bet is to wait a week or two and watch some streams or gameplay videos.

From everything I've seen I'd say the concept is cool but there's not alot of depth to any of the systems. Unless you just want a game that's cathartic you'll probably find this doesn't hold your attention too long. I say this because I've played titles like this before, but we'll see.

It was never really described as a flight sim. This was never, ever going to be a competitor to Elite Dangerous. I love Elite and play it often in VR, but I'm also loving No Man's Sky's much more elegant and simple dogfights - that still get really crazy when there are a lot of ships involved.

(Also future updates are confirmed to be adding more to the spaceflight and combat path.)

PS the inventory management quickly stops being an issue when 1. You get ships and exosuits with loads more slots, and 2. you realise that most minerals are easily accessible in any system so you start discarding/selling the stuff taking up your slots.

That's all i needed to hear!

The movement on the foot in this game looks really bad and feels like a stick on the camera instead of a player...no visible body parts, no walking motion or camera movement. Also I hope they introduce some kind of rover that one can ride to help speed up exploration of a planet. Just walking around will take hours.

But game looks like it has delivered. Congrats to Hello Games for creating one of the most ambitious game and making it work.

When i open my inventory and go to my Photon cannon, there is no option to recharge it, nor is there a bar saying what charge it is at. But when in space, it's at 0% in the top right
sounds like you even looking at an upgrade and not the actual blaster.
