So tempted to get the 8 slot multi tool Hunter of Jaingpoh-Oadu but 47,000 Units.

Anyone use the by-pass chip at an outpost landing pad yet? Does it call a ship or something? Says in bypass chip description "possibly illegal". Don't want to piss any aliens off.

This game, man. So good.

I got about 2 hrs of playtime in (from midnight to almost 2am) even though I had work this morning. No regrets.

I know it's early but I'm loving what I see so far. I think I could come back to this game and play for 30 mins to an hour for a long time.

The FOV wasn't a problem for me, and performance is good and my starting planet is trying to kill me, as expected.

Just how good are the DLC? The Vector ship and the gun? I preordered at Amazon so I just get the ship. Anyone have the gun or don't want the gun? Drop a PM?

Is there anything akin to a quick tips for starting out? I dont want any spoilers but just a little bit of how the menuing works and basic scanning would be nice.

You should get tools and ships with more slots than old one, this way you keep getting newer and better stuff.

Using bypass chip on landing pad console does spawn your ship to that landing pad.

My LE is sitting at the front door and I'm stuck at work. The struggle, my friends, is totally real. I've watched the time for the past 10 minutes and this clock has only clicked a single digit forward.

Found a planet with a bunch of ! Items. I assume I sell these because they are worth about 25k a pop. If I farm all in this one area I should end up with about 1.5 Million....yay!

Plutonium

Iron

Plutonium

Tharium(?)

Did I say Plutonium?

Game has good pop up tutorials for menu basics like how to teleport stuff between suit and ship. When you first to get visit Galactic Market keep eye out for materials marked with golden star, those will get you most bang / sold unit.

The ship is fine, but it's mostly geared towards fighting. If you're looking to mine, trade and smuggle you're not going to like it too much. The biggest difference between the Vector ship, is that it has all of the intro upgrades, some upgraded lasers and 1 extra inventory spot. Depending on what your in-game profession is, you're gonna be buying a new ship after a few hours.

yeah, okay, i just want to make sure im not missing anything blatantly obvious, like a way to warp back to your ship if youve gone too far

You've redeemed your pre-order ship, which has a working hyperdrive. This skips all of the intro stuff, allowing you to warp immediately to another system.

Obviously it's not out yet, but I wonder if Steam pre-orders come with that already included? Anyone know if I should cancel my Steam preorder if I don't want to have intro stuff skipped?

How does one acquire or craft these?

Last night, I ran into this alien that upgraded my multi-tool, so now it looks like the Grasp of Malok. I never got one in Destiny, so I guess this is better than nothing! Also, after I warped into another system I ran into some kind of shipping convoy. I tried to break in to one of their containers, and those guys didn't like that too much. They almost immediately started shooting. I pulse jumped out of there right quick. When I went back to the area, they were all gone.

They screwed up my mining lasers, though. They really should pay for that.

need pix of grasp of malok multi-tool!

Maaaaaaaaaaan. PC release needs to come sooner. :(

We should start a support group for the PC crowd? It's a very painful wait.

Played it for a few hours (PS4), and... I think I'm one of the not-that-happy-with-it people.

While there's personal-preferences-things to say about the camera & controls (not a big fan of the wonky floaty feel & the hypernarrow fov), what's kind of killing the game for me is the lack of meaning of your actions, aside from "I do stuff to survive more & go further".

I cannot say I was expecting, hoping would be a better way to describe it, I was hoping in terms of meaning & narrative for something akin to what powers the Strugatsky brothers' Roadside Picnic: we're ants checking out the remains of an intergalactic picnic of some incomprehensible & utterly different alien race. Putting together pieces of information, building up a fresca of the universe's history as we explore solar system after solar system, and we find ruined remains of alien ships & structures - maybe a bit like in Paul Mcauley's The Choice series.

Basically, marry the gameplay systems with a galactic archeology narrative system - to have something else aside from practical reasons pushing me to explore further & be excited about the next system.

When you have such an expansive universe, you kind of expect the game to survive on engagement - pull players in, and give them either enough variety or enough meaning to keep them doing it for a couple of lifetimes. So far, No Man's Sky seems to be lacking in both a bit - I'm kind of doing samey actions everywhere for samey reasons & meanings, with a slightly different color pallete slapped over. I think I'll be doing these actions a few more times, and then I'll be thoroughly bored.

Ok space explorers, what's up with the "lost connection to online services" message?!

Do you have to reboot the game to re-connect?

I played it a couple hours last night and I've been playing it a bit more this morning and I'm just... It's just a randomly generated game like we've seen hundreds of times, only the gameplay isn't exciting and lacks depth. I dunno. I'm really trying. It'd make sense at $20.

people are desperate to make a call within 24 hours

Who will win the "most accurate early comment before anyone has really had a chance to completely explore the game in the hopes that the comment stands the test of neogaf time" contest

You don't have to use it (but the message informing you that it's available doesn't go away if you decline it).

What I did was do all of the work to get my starting ship's engines and hyperdrive working, and then I redeemed the pre-order ship so that I didn't feel like I was getting an advantage.

Open your inventory and press Square on an empty space. This will display your crafting recipes, and I'm pretty sure you start with the Bypass Chip recipe.

Left a moon to get the antimatter recipe and then like three space pirate ships started sniffing me. Got two before the third took me down... I got my stuff back though.

just to be clear, no one is able to connect to the servers right now, right?

EDIT: Oh. is stuff I'm finding and naming going to be saved? i gotta find some heridium so i can get off this beautiful deathtrap

well im in the OMFG AMAZING crowd (those people exist here right?)

spent 5 hours last night and its everything i hoped for... and then some... i kept saying "OMG AWESOME" every 5 minutes. 5 hours of exploring, havent even left my starting planet.

10/10

GOTY

Last night my wife and I played a couple of hours before bed. I picked up some plans/blueprints for certain items, a couple for my multi-tool and my suit. Although, I couldn't find them anywhere in the crafting menus afterwords. Does this make sense to anyone that could help?

Who is this game geared towards? Is it only exploration and gathering resources with no end in sight? Ive seen some twitch streams - watching Dans now.. but it just looks bland.. but i am going off a few hours.
From what I've played, yeah that's the game.

No idea, but servers seem to be unstable. They probably didn't expect this amount of traffic lol.

Thanks.

Anyways, I wonder how my LV-426 planets will be in the game? Just named my home planet that. :)

Can't believe they didn't look into the server stress tests better. Or it's just selling in massive amounts and frying their servers.

Is there a trick to scanning aerial creatures? I have dozeons of them in front of me, but scanning them seems impossible. Only need two creatures to finish my starting planet and I'm pretty sure it's these birds and another mysterious sound I need to investigate once I upgrade my tools.

Also there is so much gold on my starting planet. Going to be here a while. Why would I leave?
Is it possible to use the DLC code just for the theme and not use the ship?
Yes. The ship is completely optional.

Have there been any reports of motion sickness? I really want to buy this but I'm very susceptibile to motion sickness. I bought The Witness and I had to turn it off after 20 minutes due to this and I've not played it since, I believe its a low FOV thing that causes this so don't want to fork out £50 if the game is going to make me sick.

I think the servers have been having trouble with the launch. I was getting nice and green "Online Services Active" right up until midnight last night, and then shortly after it was having difficulty connecting, so I'm pretty sure the launch blitz totally hammered them.

Depends on item, but e.g. multi-tool stuff can be only crafted into its slots etc.

I think this is actually the rest mode bug that games like bloodborne and dark souls had too. I closed the application and then opened it and i was right back on line.

So as someone who redeemed straight away, do I need to throw away 8 hours of play, or is it just having to build the hyperdrive I'm missing out on?
