I don't know a whole lot either but I'm a bit further than you.

If you picked Atlas guidance in the beginning you should have new objectives guiding you to refuel your warp drive.

I think I did complete that, because that's what L1 and R1 do right? After that, what do I do?

The ship isn't visible at the crash site though, is it? There's not like, a smoldering crater and the identifiable remains of a ship.

There wasn't a crater, just the ship on the surface and a stream of smoke rising from it. Who knows, maybe it was a coincidence on the timing, but the marker for a crashed shipped literally showed up a few mins after shooting down a ship while I was in space.

By "nebulous talk" do you mean "Sean Murray's bizarre refusal to admit that you're never going to play with another person and the functionality for MP isn't in the game at all because why would they waste all that time and money creating MP capabilities when they'll never be used"?
More the "chances of two players ever crossing paths in a universe this large is pretty much zero" that's not the same as saying players can't meet. Which, honestly I'd be willing to bet you just cannot, but they resort to saying that the universe and planets are so biiiiiiig.

I seriously doubt you can meet anyone, the way they're coy about it seems more evasive than anything, maybe it will be a future update if anything.

Sean said it was possible. Each player carries a personal lobby/bubble that can host a few other players in the same game instance. The odds are just so small that they continued to push the message that is effectively a single player experience.

what is this ?
Im in my second system, found planets and have a goal, but I dont understant your spoiler. I didnt chose anything at the beginning ???

Well in 6 hours of play I finally just had my first lock up. PS4 wouldn't even respond. After a bit it finally closed the game but damn it was a hard lock. Console wouldn't even turn off.

How do I get the credits and the ship from the preorder. I added them last night on PSN

The preorder gives you credits as well?

Ugh... I only preordered so I could pre-load... I don't want all this extra crap that makes the game easy in the beginning. I want to enjoy the ramping the designers built into the experience.

Please source this? I want to know if it's even possible.

LE just arrived. It's really fuckin' nice, the case looks like and feels like a hardcover novel. The steelbook is nicer than expected and the comic also seems to have a very short novel at the end. Absolutely worth it, especially Amazon Prime price of just $3 more than just the game.

Yeah that my case as well. Redeemed to get rid of that annoying message.

So I need to actually take the ship and replace my starter for that message to go away?

Ugh. Is there a way I can keep my starter and just throw away the "bonus" ship so I can progress through the game the way the designers intended?

When did he say it was possible? I see this quoted a lot, but that's taken from an interview like two years ago when he was speculating about how MP *could* work in NMS, not that there are actual lobbies in the game that can be utilized when players get to the same spot in the universe.

If it was possible, he would have come up with a way to show it. being able to find another player and co-op/PVP with them would be a game-changer for NMS, and shrugging and saying "ehhh maybe, who knows" just isn't believable.

You missed the first story beat. There's a beacon next to your broken ship. You can restart or continue with what I imagine would be a different path somehow.

I havent played it but from what I understand there is no story. There is LORE but no story your character follows. I could be wrong.

It definitely does. I wouldn't necessary describe it as either linear or abstract. There is a consistent lore, there are narrative moments, there are choices.

I have no idea how compelling or how long the "story" is, though.

Actually, so far I've considered all the little story/lore bits (which btw seem pretty well-written) to be gravy. If it gets really good as I progress my sentiments on this game will only improve

Yes it does. And it seems really good

There are small fun decisions and there seem to be
bigger plot decisions too

Holy shit this fucking second I got to show story point

What the fuuuuuu

Thank you guys! You just sold me and my friends the game :)

Interview with Sean

"How many people could be there theoretically?
The lobby that you carry around with you now can, it's almost like I don't wanna say because people will just test it, it can carry a few people. More than what you will see during the normal course of the game. "

The feature isnt designed to find other people or co-op. There isnt any way to communicate with them. It is just a shared instance if you happen to encounter another player.

So what's the consensus on redeeming the pre-order ship right away?

Because I really don't want to be stuck with that ugly red starter junker, but I also don't want to skip the first few missions of the game.

You still need to repair it the same as the starter ship. You won't skip anything by redeeming it.

My LE is out for delivery woot woot

Mine too, it's been out for delivery since 5 AM.... and now that I got everything out of the way I wanted to (like doing the dishes) the wait is tortourous. Maybe I should stop reading about the game and go do something to keep my mind off of it.

(I wish my work hadn't messed up my days off and given me today and tomorrow, I actually asked for tomorrow and Wednsday off since I knew part of today I'd not have the game plus work would at least make the time go by faster I think).

I dont buy it, even in Souls Games you cant pause due to the connective online elements, but you can in NMS?

Until the do a case study showing the interaction, which Im sure the Developers can do, Im not buying "oh the Universe is too big thats why"

Anything within the last 6months at least

I can't get over the terrible FOV of the game, it's so bad.

Is the protagonist some sort of bobblehead alien?

nZ4MiC2.png

For real, it breaks the inmersion and kind of ruins the nice vistas of the worlds, having that "handgun" so close to the camera, no arms, totally cropped fov.

Weird.
Yup, hate it. No idea why they went with it.

Meh. It's not a game breaker. I'd just saved at a new spot and was scanning a ton of creatures near by. It's not like it's the first game that's ever locked up on me. Now if this were to become a regular thing I'd be worried.

I have to say also finding a ton of knowledge stones around and monuments. I've learned a ton of the alien's language just exploring these couple planets I keep going between.

I could have sworn I did a compare then leave alone, and it's still nagging me about having extra content every 20 seconds.

Really? That's kinda obnoxious.

To be honest, after I got the warp drive I noticed there wasn't much of difference, so I just started using it. It looks like a Battlestar Galactica Viper, so that was also a plus.

The olympics (and me covering for someone at work so long hours) really conspires against me getting quality time with this for the next couple weeks. In the meantime I'll probably avoid this thread too..

I love the trophy setup. Low number of trophies, healthy mix of bronze, silver, and gold, no spoilers, all based purely on the basic gameplay concepts.

So nobody knows if you just quit the app or...how do I quit out??

Hit a restore point and just close the app with the PS button or turn the system off. There is no "Quit to Menu" option.

I think you can do all the starter missions and then take the ship. That way you don't miss any of those component upgrade tasks. But from what I read in the last few pages it's not really a big deal.
