Yeah. They appear randomly when you warp into a new system. The other options that Korvex offers are guidance to a black hole(Like you said), and guidance in exploration(Dunno what that does). Third option being 'Set me in the path of Atlas(sic)'.

I'm not sure what we are calling spoilers so I'll play it safe asking this question.

Does this mean I could follow the Atlas Path while NOT going closer to the center or hitting any black holes to farm Atlas Stones? I'm worried about not having 10.

Or does following the Atlas Stations automatically get you closer to the center?

That's great to hear, I was very overwhelmed by the vastness of space for a minute there.

Yeah I agree with all of these. There should definitely be a star system map. If you have a tiny moon hiding somewhere it can be really hard to find. And sometimes I can't seem to find the space station at all. (Even when I know it's definitely there somewhere)

Yeah, the space station has an icon you can orient yourself with, but sometimes it's not there. Not sure if that's a proximity thing or a bug.

And none of my starting planets have moons. Looking forward to seeing that.

Just got to my second planet. I have to find shelter each night as the temperture goes down to -70 to -80. It basically kills me with in minutes.

Hate to say it but I'm beginning to grow tired of the game already. Probably will refund my Steam version. It's not a matter of high expectations either, I'm just not really finding any excitement in visiting the planets I'm stuck around right now, the only true paradise I found had FPS issues and the journey to the core will take me forever since the game seems incapable of giving me warp drive upgrades.

I'm sure I'll come back to it, maybe even tomorrow, but right now I'm feeling a little tired of it. The lack of truly huge monsters and any rare finds from any players at all right now is sucking the fun out of actually exploring a bit.

Gaf help, you wouldn't believe how hard it is to find the answer online.
You have to build it.
And to build that you have to build something else.
And to build that you have to buy a very expensive component as one of the ingredients.

You can examine the recipes in your inventory by looking at each component.

36. Don't know if it makes a difference. I remember playing Elite 3 a lot, despite the bugs. Had some friends who races about the earlier Elites but never got into them myself.

I'm a big believer that this game needs constant objectives to keep it fresh, and that people like me will enjoy it more when there's something to do beyond just trying to reach the center. So, I'm going to become a space pirate.

That means:

Not giving a single fuck about the sentries and taking them down on sight.
Upgrading my ship to acceptable levels.
Attacking ships.
And selling loot.

From this, I should be able to acquire a ton of money much faster, and basically have more fun instead of being beholden to the game's systems. Obviously, this'll mean more deaths per capita, and pissing off the locals.

So, before I begin this adventure, I must ask a few questions, because I really don't want to fuck up my game and have to restart again (already had to once because my starting planet was ass, then a second time because of the preorder problem).

Has anyone tried this? What do you recommend doing as a pirate?
How much of an impact does pissing off an entire race of people carry? I don't want to lock myself out of upgrades because they won't speak to me.
How can I make ship combat better beyond using the mining laser? I feel so slow while others zip on by.
What usually goes for the most money/what type of material is least used in upgrades?

I want to see the look on the face of the person who has to follow my path. I've named and will continue to name every single thing I find "CACTUS".

Having a blast, it'll get old but honestly by that time i'll have gotten way more than my moneys worth. Glad I fell victim to the hype.

Is there any special significance to the galaxies that require the Sigma Drive to warp to? Like do they tend to have rarer stuff or anything?

Has anyone asked for a refund on this yet? If so how did it go.

I bought it digitally from psn

Pretty sure with PSN as soon as you boot the content it is now longer refundable. It may even be as soon as it's downloaded. I got a refund on something once but only managed to since I bought DLC for a PS3 copy of a game by mistake and never downloaded it. Even then it was a struggle and took a while.

I have the recipe for anti-matter, but I think you're given the first one by someone at the space station.

I feel like I've had such an easy ride with this game. Haven't other people had markers popping up out of the blue, usually outpost or abandoned building, stating rare technology/recipe found? That seems to be where I've got the good recipes.

I'm interested to see how your plan goes!

- If you completely piss off a race you'll probably have serious disadvantages trading and whatnot, and outpost aliens will probably refuse to deal with you. At least that's what Sean has hinted at.
- You'll definitely want to find a ship that focuses on combat. I think those are the more x-wing looking ships, but I'm not sure.
- I have a few upgrades for shielding, recharge rate for my ship. If you're playing as a pirate you probably want to hit and run, as you won't be able to take on a fleet of freighters right now. So, find upgrades for your weapons and for your engines (if those exist)

Naming discoveries don't have to be unique, right? I just named a planet Vulcan and have a hard time believing that no one has used that yet.

5-7 hours in and I think the game is starting to run its course for me. I'm now following the path for the Atlas Interface and everything is getting to be too redundant. Sick of mining huge pillars that take forever, searching for beacons to find points of interest, etc.

At this point I'm starting to go to the next system, find the thing it wants me to find, then jumping again. Might be a good time for a break.

39 and loving the game... But at times find I've fallen into a microsleep while walking around and wake up to find myself walking into a wall.

Game frustrates me a little because I can't figure out how to go back to previously visited systems (the system map can be a pain in the arse to navigate), let alone back to some obscure outpost discovered (wish you could bookmark them to return later or suggest to friends). I went to one with a micro-tool for sale, but I didn't have enough for it. I wanted to go back and buy it (since I have no room to upgrade my current) but I have no idea where it was.

I named everything on my first planet Dave.

Anyone know if stars even exist physically? I flew with my pulse engine for about 10 minutes, to the point of not being able to see the systems planets anymore, and still haven't got close to the star :/

Congrats, you found a bug, it's a video game.

Is anyone else finding it really hard to tag all the species on a planet for the zoology milestone? I regularly get to 1 or 2 species left and cannot find them, and when I finally did the milestone never even popped! Also, tagging some of those birds that change direction a lot FUCKING SUCKS SEAN MURRAY.

Check your snark. Just the facts, ma'am!

Here's my starting planet. I renamed it after the street I grew up on. Denvale-1.

I'm thinking based on the videos that this is more like billions of interconnected small systems with 3-4 planets each that aren't affected by any kind of gravity or anything.

It's really kind of one step removed from having a mass effect style map you move a cursor around and then it "procedurally generates" a couple planets within flying distance around you when you click a grid on the map.

Oh I was meaning to ask if anyone found a portal yet? I've done a LOT of planet scouring and not found one yet. Is it possible they were cut? I mean clearly they wouldn't work like in the trailer anyway since it has to load the system in just like warping.

35 here and loving it. Reminds me of way back when I was a kid and I had no idea what was coming next in a game. I also love the sense of isolation. Reminds me of Myst, Riven, and Metroid Prime.

Getting real bad graphical bugs today. Objects are appearing broken/ artifacting.

Is anyone else getting this issue? It happens on both of my ps4s. I started a new game thinking it was a bad save but it's still happening.

That portal trailer was so cool. Id be real sad if it was cut and nobody said anything. I dont think anyone has found one yet.

Something similar to the second one happened when I was using the pulse drive near a planet.

That's unfortunate. I really wanted to see a star up close.
Oh well, off to try and shoot some more birds

Ah shit, I forgot that they won't converse at all. Still, the best gear can be found in the pods beside them, so it's not too bad I guess. Plus I could always use the outpost computer trader instead of the alien one.

With the money I spend, hopefully I'll be getting a better ship sooner rather than latter. Fingers crossed on that one.

Hitting and running sounds good, I guess I need to get used to how slow turning feels.

Congrats, you found a bug, it's a video game.

How far up this game's ass do you need to be to be offended that someone posted a bug? He didn't even say anything about it! It was just a funny gif.

Also, shoot the birds, scan the bodies.

I've found the monument itself with the portal but it wasn't active.

So I accepted the Atlas at the beginning but never saw it tell me to do anything. I went exploring and such but note I have no clue how to build a hyper dive. I know the guides say to follow the beacons but I long left my starting spot and can't find any beacons.

Any advice?

You can examine the recipes in your inventory by looking at each component.

You need the recipe first, and according to the internet, you need to travel outside the Galaxy to get it, which you need Antimatter for.

I have the recipe for anti-matter, but I think you're given the first one by someone at the space station.

I don't have the Recipe unfortunately! I checked like 20 spaceships at the space Hub and asked multiple vendors.

Scanning birds is literally the most challenging activity in the game.

I say embrace it.
