Are you completely sure that you just can't find it?

It doesn't store changes such as rock carving on the servers, it simply dumps the changes on the local machine.

As to previous systems disappearing, not sure why that would happen given the algorithm that generates the galaxy is going to generate it exactly the same for everyone.

Now it storing your discoveries on the galactic map properly (showing the names of previously discovered systems) could certainly be affected by the servers as those are supposed to be uploaded. (although they are having some issues with that to be sure).

Why didn't you set a way point to your original system??

Also how far did you travel? Try scanning for discoveries. Your own discoveries will come up.

Just found them. Previous system and starter system, with my own name for the latter and all. Found them super quickly when starting the game again after not playing for an hour or two. Did it by scanning for nearby discoveries, yeah. But that DID NOT work before, and no matter how many stars I checked I could not find them. That, to me, confirms that this stuff doesn't work unless the servers are responding. Local data doesn't matter. Suddenly I find them like THAT. I'm happy (just warped to my second system, going to my first once I have another warp cell), but I'm telling you they didn't exist before, or at least not where they should have been.

If you hit up on the dpad in the galaxy map, it initiates a scan. Then keep hitting right on the dpad to advance to previous discoveries and eventually you should find your home system. After that, hit square on it to save it as a waypoint.

Sweet tip, thanks. I'll try this today after work.

How does one go about getting warp reactor Tau? Am I fucked because I took the preorder ship and don't have any hyperdrive blueprints? My current ship has reactor sigma, but I don't have the blueprints.

Huh so I found a strange monolith that
offered to teleport me "home". I chose to resist the temptation and it taught me an Atlas word. Anyone knows what happens if you go accept?

You didn't do it? You have failed us all :(

So are all bodies of liquid in this game water? Because I just found this: https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...has-deep-canyons-flooded-with-liquid-methane/

And has anyone actually noticed planets being warmer or cooler based on their distance from the sun?

They're all "liquid," not sure if water anymore than the air is oxygen. As for the article, I've been waiting (for a decade now) for the day we actually get footage of Titan's methane oceans & surface. So tantalizing (along with Europa).

If you want to be able to venture back and forth for a while, set waypoints!

Reading these threads about NMS, the latest Steam Thread title was kind of profetic:

STEAM | August 2016 - No Man's Sky will leave Mankind Divided

Nice that it worked now!

So when you visit a star system, is it really a set of planets spread around a sun and you can move between each planet?

Or are the planets of a system always conveniently grouped together and the sun is just a pretty backdrop behind them?

No one?

I guess I'm not too clear what you mean - planets are spaced closer to one another than in real life in the interest of cool sci fi screenshots, but you can move about a star system freely.

I think he's asking if the sun is a real entity and you could, for instance, fly into it (and die) or just a background that you can never really reach.

I need some help. I died on a planet and everytime I spawn the game is putting me under the geometry of the planet and I keep drowning, has anyone else had this happen and know what to do?

Stuck without warp drive blueprints: I read today that I can just transfer my existing drive to any new ship by putting it into my personal inventory before I make the switch. Is this accurate?? Last chance before I just restart.

Thank god for Subnautica, it's a truly great game in its own right but it's also helped me hold out from playing more of my PS4 version of NMS while waiting for the PC release.

Speaking of, any digital stores have NMS at a discount?

I got the blueprint for a Hyperdrive, built it, and then got given some Antimatter by an NPC in an outpost, which I used to build a Warp Cell and put it into my hyperdrive. I've since found a new ship and taken that, but now have no fuel for my hyperdrive... How do I get more antimatter or even a full warp cell?

Yep, I set one as soon as I found my starting system again. And now I'm there! Currently pulse jumping towards my starting planet. It's silly, but it feels fucking awesome to be back here!

The waypoints don't disappear once you've reached them?

Can you reload the previous save (next to last one)?

I remember buying antimatter at the space station. Either in the shop, or go around asking other ship captains.

Fed two animals, an adult and a baby and afterwards they continued to follow me all the while hoping and chirping about. I feel bad about leaving. :(

Not too long after my first jump I found the blueprint for antimatter.

Currently I can make Warp Cells for a 20K shop purchase + a small amount of common ingredients.

I see, I guess it's more likely than not that it is part of the skyboxes. But interstellar distances are so vast it would be tough to tell if you could ever reach one.

So I just come across the Doom of planets.

It kind of looked like retro Doom with the brown ground and hazy sky.

And those Vortex Cubes creaped me the fuck out.

Btw, if you find these vortex cubes, grab them. But it will alert sentinels. But if you can, grab them they are valuable. It just one haul in that video I was able to sell them for 600,000 space bucks. Unfortunately the planet was in a solar system that had no space station, so farming them would have required multiple use of warp cells. But even in one pass, 600,000 space bucks is great.

EDIT: I don't know if these vortex cubes are common and many of you have come across them yet but damn it was pretty cool.

Hope the Discoveries tab gets a retooling. Would quite like to be able to zoom/rotate the animals I've discovered. Many of them run away so I can't get a good look!

I seem to have taken up a role not advertised in the trailers: archeologist/language learner. Can't get enough of those ruins/monoliths/plaques!

Had my first death last night to 3 pirates that knocked me out of hyper speed when I had a shipload full of gold and platinum. Shield recharging is a bit of a pain. Had two more battles after that near a planet surface - I think I'm going to start being a pirate too. But my standing with the Gek is so high, I'm not sure what to do. Really loving this game so far - 14 hours over 2 nights

I'm ok if it's a bug but it's happening with most objects in the game now on two different systems with two new save games (only mention this to stress it's not hardware). I'm just trying to find out how common this is and if there is a solution.

I can sometimes get the model to fix itself by getting really close to it as shown above.

Was able to finally find something from someone else showing they are seeing the same type of graphical bugs I am. I was really starting to get frustrated because I spent a lot of my day checking every game in my library to see if any other games were having similar issues, which would point toward a hardware issue, but none have. I was also not having any luck finding others with the same issue.

Can someone spoil me a bit? What happens after that magical 20 hours they keep saying on the reviews? I'm now at around 6 hours and
I think it has to do with inventory management and gear
.
