No Man's Sky |OT| Hello Worlds.

Is there a way to play offline? (Without signing out of PSN) Seems the only difference is some stuff is already discovered so it has goofy names and I can't claim the credits :/

Oh, as I type this I lost connection again anyway. That works I guess.

No it's back again. *shakes fist*

Being able to call your ship to your location would make this game so much better for me. I don't go out and explore on foot nearly as far as I would like because I know I have to walk back again.

I quite like the game, I like the exploration and whatnot, but for me the most fun I have is the very moment I hit a new planet or solar system. The actual act of exploration within these areas can be a little dull however. Lots of walking through often empty terrain, only to be greeted with one of only a very small number of potential points of interest.

It's ironic really, that with all the geological variation, they thought it was acceptable for the points of interest (shelters, outposts etc) to only feature 5 or so archetypes. Unfortunately, this makes the worlds themselves quite dull to explore in my opinion, as exploration rarely leads to something that I couldn't have achieved somewhere else. It provides little incentive to go anywhere, when all of the outposts at the same regardless of where I go.

Also, despite the surface level aesthetic variation, caves are all almost the same. That's boring.

Big complaint of the game is the lack of a waypoint system. Found massive blocks of mineral (emridiun or something) anyway mined what I could have ran out of space so went to the orbiting space station. Dashed out and went back for more... I couldn't find it flying around the planet. A simple waypoint marker you could use would have been great. I hope it makes an update soon

Similar thing happened to me. Found an awesome multitool in a building but didnt have the cash for it until i would sell all my inventory, so I thought I'd try my luck at flying back down to the same place afterwards, and I just couldn't pinpoint it again.

Iridium is the hardest to find mineral. I only found a source once but I didn't keep a supply on hand. Now I've got a Warp Reactor upgrade sitting there waiting on 200 Iridium. I'm just going to keep going forward and trying to find

Look around asteroids, particularly near planets. I find loads. Looks similar to the copper and nickle ones.

The sprint + attack lunge + jetpack trick has made me explore away from my ship way more than I did for my first two days with the game.

Initially travelling away from my ship was daunting and I hated the prospect of trudging back, but now I know I can move 3-4x faster I zip about whatever peninsula/area I land in.

There are... things on some planets that do that. Looks like a bollard but all computery, costs a Bypass Chip to use

You can't call it just anywhere, but there are locations you can call your ship to if you have a bypass chip on you.
Don't recommend it unless the planet is safe to foot around on for significant time, but I've done it.

I do like my purple planet

I need to post more screens of my adventures I am enjoying it so much

The caves all being pretty much the same inside is probably the only part about the planets that I'm pretty disappointed about.

Still a cool feeling to tunnel a hole up to the surface when you don't feel like finding the entrance again.

I absolutely love the game!
One problem though. Seems I've run into a bug or something that has caused all the markers for quest and the likes to have disappeared. Really annoying. I've tried to restart the game etc, but they show up for about 30 seconds after entering the game then disappear again.

I really really don't want to have to restart the game and play those 8 hours again...

Anyone else who have run into this??

There are certain beacons at settlements that use data chips (the ones used for finding monoliths) - it will call you're ship right to it; quite handy if you land near a base but want to do some exploration on foot

I'm trying to keep relatively in the dark but I saw a few things in the thread that raised some questions.

Is the Atlas questions the main game or a side quests?

Is the yellow connected line in the galactic map the path to the center?

What is the max slots for gun/ship/exo? So I know when to upgrade if I find one with many unlocked. Furthermore, we DON'T get new exo suits, we just upgrade one slot at a time? But we CANT upgrade slots on the ship/gun, you need to find one with it already unlocked and purchase it?

Still loving this, been playing nothing else since Monday and it really has hooked me. I love so many aspects of it, and the scope of it, knowing there are so many other people 'out there' finding new things too, awesome experience to be a part of.

Wow at those extreme storms! Didn't we just talk about them a few pages ago? I guess thunderstorms are not out of the question, yet!
10 more minutes of "work", then a "quick" 14k run, then hopefully some No Man's Sky before our dinner reservation.
Adult life is the worst!
No homework, though! :P

1. Atlas questions at the begining of the game are essentially the tutorial as best as I understand it. They lead you to repair your ship, find a hyperdrive schematic, find the recipe for antimatter, and build warp cells. Once you do that you have more freedom to explore.

2. Yes, the golden line is the most direct path to the center. If you click R1 on the galactic map you can switch to freeform mode and jump wherever you want. Bear in mind that you will need to put a waypoint on a system if you want to go back to it as it is currently difficult to find places you have been on the galactic map.

3. I don't know what the max is for ship and multi-tool but it is true that if you want more slots you need to buy or trade to upgrade.

All your other questions were answered, apart from the suit, which has 48 slots max.

Prior to swapping out my preorder ship I've warped at least 10 times and have entered two black holes. I'm traveled.

Did you redeem the preorder ship and start using it straight away, at the beginning of the game? Because there's a glitch/bug associated with that which messes up the part of the 'tutorial' where you learn how to build hyperdrives. Maybe that's what happened?

I didnt say new things to do, I said finding new things. So many crazy variations on the planets, I just came across one with Vortex Cubes everywhere, so I parked up at a trade post and commenced farming lol.

I recognise most people hate that type of gameplay, hence the backlash this game has gotten, but I really enjoy it and find it relaxing. Just after selling around 50 of those Cubes, I entered a cave system and there were Graviton Balls all over the place. Yes, I'm wierd, I like boring things, shoot me.

After Atlas V1 and exo suit upgrades are more convenient, looking forward to prioritizing outposts and manufacturing facilities more. I've run across some semi-common stuff that is extremely valuable in places, that I could really make bank on if I had the blueprint. Need to find more blueprints like crazy, and I don't really care about pods anymore.

Also content in continuing along Atlas path for now, as cool shit happens every few systems and really any distance I make towards center is negligible until I get better warp/hyperdrive parts, which I don't have at the moment.

I'm certain that's what's happened. I need to know what I can do to get a hyper drive. Where should I look for a blue print? I've tried resetting my ps4 as suggested by Sean but that didn't do anything.

I still can't get the game online which is annoying as my understanding is that being online opens up more of the options on the Galactic map.

Also, not being able to find a recipe for the AtlasPass is driving me nuts. I think that my mantra for this game is going to be "Never look back." The game is so large that I can't imagine ever needing to return to a prior system.

I ended up wandering off on my own to a new system and the sentinels went berserk on me. The planet had a harsh environment with constant storms and the sentinels attacking were those hovering scanners, the tall 2 legged ones from the early screens, and a 4 legged wolf like robot. This planet had some valuable items to harvest, but I was facing constant death.

Huge mountains all over this planet. Disappointing to see people thinking everything is flat and plain, I've seen heaps of planets like this.

(Excuse the quality, screen capped from my Facebook video)

I felt like this at first too. After a bunch of suit upgrades and hazard upgrades, I don't really feel like that anymore. I was just on an extreme toxic planet with severe storms and with those upgrades I didn't mind wandering nearly 10 minutes away from my ship. The upgrades make quite the difference

I don't get the galactic map.I thought the game was MASSIVE? Why can I only warp to planets connected with the yellow line?

use L1 or R1 to use the map freely. You can wander through the stars.

But to actually move your ship, you need to follow the line to jump system by system or multiples at once if you got the right upgrade

Are there any planets like Earth where there are large continents and large bodies of water? So far all I've seen are planets that are maybe 5-15% water that are mostly just very large lakes.

I have seen planets that have so much water it took me ages to find a place to land

I haven't had mostly water with large continents, but I've had mostly water with islands.

Yeah, my starting planet was really mountainy. In fact, my crash site was on top of a really tall mountain, as I found out when I went exploring. Then yesterday I found a really cool planet with awesome peaks and canyons all over the place. I mean, you're not gonna find anything of real mountain size, these are video game mountains, but they can get decently large.
