No Mans Sky | PC Performance Thread

What the fuck are you talking about? What are those recent ports that run badly? This, Quantum Break and Arkham Knight?

I knew this would get a rise out of some people. Say something bad about console and it's cool. But say something bad about PC Master Racers and they get fired up. How dare I insult your investment.

Just having PC Performance threads in general is just more evidence of why I have slowly moved away from PC gaming. Too much time, effort and research for minimal payoff. You can keep your 1440p 144Hz and 60 FPS.

And yes I am talking about Arkham Knight, Quantum Break, No Man's Sky and others.

Any thoughts on KB+M vs using an Xbone controller?

KB/M is much better compared to XB1 controller for this game. I'm typically a controller player, but the deadzone for this game is massive (think Killzone 2 levels) and there's no way of customizing it. Also, sprint is still mapped to R3 which is super unintuitive. At least the KB/M controls make sense.

So, woke up to play this, getting between 7 and 28 FPS on the intro scene @1080p all settings to high and FXAA..

Hang ups to 1fps are frequent.

I have to go to work, but if this doesn't improve, it may be the first Steam game I return. Just might end up buying the PS4 version.

You don't have to think it's fine, but don't act all surprised like the (No Man's) sky is falling and you can't believe this is happening. It's a PC, this shit happens at pretty much every game launch whether you like it or not. If it bothers you so much why did you just NEED to have it at launch? Why not just wait and see how it goes?

Since when? I buy plenty of pc games at launch and the problems are usually pretty minimal.

So it runs super smooth for me for about 30 mins, then turns super framey and really slow until I restart and then it's fine again.

Shame because I'm really enjoying it.

Memory leaks are usually the cause of that right?

What is the consensus on GOG vs Steam? I have a 980m gtx that hopefully will run 1080p at acceptable speeds

Someone in the OT said the GOG version is better but I have no idea where they got that from

Does GOG do refunds? I really don't wanna be stuck with it if it's also shit

That's THREE games in the span of over 12 months. Please go ahead and list the others.

Please do not call me a "PC Master Racer". I'm merely calling you out on your BS.

You can change the controls for the gamepad. First thing I did was switch the sprint and scan around.

Same here! But tread carefully. People can talk shit about console popin and 30 FPS. But if you say one word about something not working well on PC, you're gonna get hung! :)
What's your point? The game came out on PC. This thread is about the PC version and people wanting to play that with the best performance. Saying you rather have it on PS4 adds nothing here.

quality shitposting. what causes no man's sky threads to bring posters like this out?

Something is very wrong.
I have MUCH better perf than that at 1440p with a 980 Ti

Same here. It's still above 60 at it's worst (bar stutters) with everything totally maxed out at 1440p.

Well report them to mods then if they're being as obnoxious as you are in the PC thread.

It's been buttery perfect for me on PS4 so far.

I don't know how people can defend such sloppy port. I've never been hyped for this game, but i know a lot people were, they have waited for 3 years and when they finally were given a relase date, the game was delayed once again. Now that the release day has arrived, they are given a buggy port that probably will need god knows how many more months to be considered solid and stable/bug free. That sucks... : (

You guys can argue and cry about this all you want. If you are that unhappy, get a refund, that is what it is there for (On STEAM anyway). I'm not saying you can't voice your complaints. You absolutely should but IMO people are taking this way too far. I don't know if it's how hyped the game is or what but damn! I've been gaming on PC's since games on PC's started and I dunno, I'm just not really THAT shocked that there are issues on launch day. I don't care if it's a $10 game or a $100 game. The price of a game obviously does not dictate how well it is going to run on launch day in the real world. I have paid plenty of $$ for games from WAY bigger studios than this with a ton more issues. The game has been out for HOURS.

Since when? I buy plenty of pc games at launch and the problems are usually pretty minimal.

Since the dawn of time. Seriously? Lucky you!

Games running quite well for me at highest settings. i7 5830k and 1080. Only things I'm disappointed with are the pop-in and the in-ability to turn off the CA/vignetting.

Is it true the GOG version is fine? Just Steam that's fucked?

Some people seem to have better experience with the GOG version but even the GOG version either works or it doesn't, it's not special case that works for everyone. For me it's a stuttering mess even though I can get fps in the triple digits easily with my setup. Tried vsync on/off as well as all the other settings, capping fps to 60, 90, 120 etc. Nothing fixes the hitching and stuttering when moving around, the constant frametime spikes to 300-500ms. It runs really well when I'm standing stationary though.

Poor PC folks. I've been playing NMS just fine on my PS4

😜

Yeah, when the game is not hard crashing that 40 FOV is just fine.

Just more depressed I guess. While I do prefer PC gaming and have been doing since the early 90s, when I see games like this not working well on the PC side its just a let down.

muh platform wars, gotta stay loyal to giant corporations

shitposting is still shitposting, ironic, dogpiled, ignored or otherwise.

and only now i saw this shit

i7 4790K @ 4.4GHz
16 GB DDR3 2133MHz
GTX 1080 @ 3440x1440 (driver 368.81)

85-98 fps on the work below, om max/high everything

Not tested flight stick yet

Following up the above, ill stick to the technical side :) still runs as above after about 4 hours.

My Saitek X52 Flight Stick is not recognised by the game so had to set up a profile (you can download it here if you want to try it). As the flight system is very simple the mapping want so hard, and works faily well. Though i think as it is today the mouse and keyboard is better.

Uh guys I turned off the steam overlay and it runs A LOT better now. Can anyone else confirm if it works for them?

Edit: It's not perfect by any means but it removed a lot of the stutter and slowdown when I'm walking around

This type of post in performance threads don't contribute with anything of value.

The point of this thread is for people to report their experience and help each other. If you want to preach us on how much better consoles are please open a new thread or hijack any other of the countless ones we already have/has with this same topic.

Yes, this game port is fucked up, but trying to equate No Mans Sky to all the recent PC releases is pretty stupid in my opinion.

If you don't have interest in contributing to this thread in a meaningful way I would advise you to stop posting here, as your "Master Race" comments are only going to get you a ban (and as you're a junior member it'll probably be a permanent one)
