So do you need to keep these Sigmas in your inventory in order for them to work? Seems like there'd be some sort of attachment system you could use so these wouldn't just be floating around in your inventory taking up much-needed space.

Have yet to try backtracking, but this is kinda baffling. How can it be so difficult to see where the galaxies you've already visited are? They don't stay lit on the galaxy map? Never thought to look for that. I'd love to be able to go back to my starting planet. I left after an hour, but now I wish I explored it way more than I did.
You have to use the discovery network for this- i.e. it's an online feature. Which is not great for offline players, plus their servers have been hammered.

But I'm starting to put it together (why they did it this way). Ordinarily you'd scan and see your nearby discoveries (and thus easily set waypoints or return to them), but also, anyone in your vicinity who was cutting a path through the universe would show up and you could see how far away you were. Eventually with more time and players making it further, some mapping of the galaxy could actually be done. I know there's been a ton of controversy because people already found each other and nothing happened, but they clearly put in some hooks to get people to attempt to occupy the same routes in space.

We'll see how it goes

Anyone else feel like the ability to purely play as an explorer is really unbalanced? You don't get much money per species. There's a good payoff for 100%ing a planet, but it's not good enough for the time it takes.

My original plan was just to explore, but now I've become a miner because it's much more lucrative. I still scan and explore, too, though.

Just built a Warp Reactor Tau and placed it next to my Warp Reactor Sigma.

Can now warp almost 800 Light years in a single jump. Excellent.

I have a question, Can you have more the one of the same named of technology like having two Warp Reactor Tau's for example?

Also I believe I just found the equivalent to Balari V. Was on a planet and temperatures were like -160 C. Didn't stay too long on that planet, Thermal Protection was dropping at a ridiculous rate and didn't feel like wasting one of my inventory slots for Cold Protection on my Exosuit. When I find a few more Pod Upgrades I'll definite consider environmental protection since I only have 24 slots of storage on my suit at the moment.

Still considering I can jump almost 800 Light Years in a single warp now and I'll assume my next upgrade will jump to 1500 because my last upgrade more than doubled distance, I figure the next one will almost double it again as well.

Once people can get Warp Drive upgrades with like 1600 Light Years, that means one can reach the center with roughly 100 Jumps. Doesn't seem too ridiculous at that point but still 170,000 LY to the galactic center is kind of far.

For reference, Our Milky Way Galaxy is only 100,000 Light Years in width. so getting to center of the Galaxy in NMS is equivalently to traveling almost double the length of the entire width of the Milky Way.

No but you can build all three and place them together which is what I plan to do on my new ship. Have blueprints for all of them.

So it matters where you place them?

Placing upgrades of the same kind together so they are connected gives you a bonus. In case of the warp drives pretty hefty too. With Tau,Theta and Sigma upgrades all placed together you will be able to cover over 1500 light years per jump.

omg

Finally home! Was the longest day of work ever. Time to rip a bowl and hop back into this.

Tonight my goal is to get(or get closer to getting) the elements for Warp Reactor Tau and Warp Reactor Sigma and keep looking for the elusive AtlasPassv2 and v3

My biggest complaint about this game aside from the crashing is how long I can breathe underwater.

It's like 30 seconds. And I'm wearing a fucking space suit...?

You can get aquabreather upgrades that allow you to breath underwater longer, and you can recharge them while underwater so you can stay down there a long time if you bring some resources with you.

You need a mod for that, Aeration Membrane.

Can someone help me? I think I'm bugged and only now I noticed. My standing with Korvax is "Traveler of the Atlas", and it just doesn't change, at all, since the beginning. My PC save with other aliens (Vy'keen) was Neutral instead.

is there any benefit to not accepting the Atlas at the start of the game?

No. I would advise everyone to follow the Atlas path anyways. You learn a ton of alien words and it is the closest thing this game has to a story. It's something everyone should experience.

Well, I'm having fun with the game. At least after finding the FPS limiter and throwing it into a black hole. Can't believe the game went from "Can I even run this?" to nearly buttery smooth just from changing that from 30 to MAX.

I kind of want some Exosuit upgrades, but I haven't been able to find any in the last two star systems I've been in. Also need to beef up my ship since prates like when I find a good planet with lots of stuff. Gonna need some ship either with some combat upgrades or one with lots of open slots.

Also, need to get that AtlasPass that everything is locked with. Just
follow the Altas path on the galaxy map
for that, right?

Guys I'm still fucked out of a hyper drive. Traded in my preorder ship for a ship that didn't have a drive. I just figured I would use a blueprint, but I don't have a blueprint for a drive.

Now I'm stuck in my solar system. None of the ships I've found (crashed or docked) have hyper drives. I've tried resetting my PS4. The only think I haven't tried is crafing and placing a hyper drive upgrade into my ship's grid, but without the hyper drive that's unlikely to do anything.

So I'm stuck. Has anybody gotten out of this situation, or does anybody know anyone online who has? Can't leave my star system.

Delete your save and start over or wait until a patch has been issued (I'd say even once patch all current saves will still be fucked so start over)

Head back out into space between planets and use your L3 star system scanner. See if it finds an incoming signal on a nearby planet. That is how you should be able to acquire the blueprint for the hyperdrive. After you receive that you'll want to do the same thing again to find another signal to receive a component you'll need to get it fueled.

yep, your preorder bonus boned you.

You can investigate that system for the blueprints, or you can start over. Or wait for patch. Sorry :(

If you can get the quest Wallach is talking about above you are good.

Man I love the Gek!

I was exploring every single planet in each system, but tonight i just kept jumping systems until I ran out of warp fuel. Felt wrong.

Has anyone got a 5 star full on sentinal attack?

This is probably the weirdest natural structure I've run into. The planet is full of them.

Thanks guys. I'm gonna try the space scanning thing and see if I can't get out of this mess. Gonna try this now :D And I know they're working on a patch, so no way am I starting over until that's out and I see if it does the trick.

I successfully got out of the cave I was stuck in and shot out into the sky finally. Holy shit this game is amazing atmospherically, just sitting in space watching everything going on. Beautiful.

HOW IS THIS INFORMATION NOT MORE READILY AVAILABLE?!

Does that also apply to Exosuit and Multi-Tool mods as well?

Atlas path? Have I missed something? I was only asked if I want to do a Tutorial. It gives me waypoints to signals and space stations. But I can't access stuff because I don't have an Atlas stone.

So.... Any inventory space hack yet for the PC version?

The inventory management is actually driving my crazy.

I've been swapping out my +1s for +2s and +3s. Are you saying I should keep the +1 there and add the +2 next to it, then I can link all three?
It's up to you. They stack.

I know a lot of people are asking for upgrades to be separated from inventory, but basically it's a balance of how much cargo space you want versus your tech.

I imagine on my PS4 fighter I would eventually have a lot of slots but not actually be using any of them for cargo, so that it could be as strong as possible. That's assuming materials collected in space will go into your exosuit inventory, I thiiiink they will but I'm planetbound at the moment.

It's worth keeping in mind though that your spaceship slots hold 2x the amount of elements per square than your exosuit does. So it can be a good place to store up some of the less convenient elements to gather like Iridium.

Sure. Maybe I'll keep like, 3 slots for long term storage. But if I'm spending most of my time in my ship, I don't need more than basic exosuit tech installed. All those slots are free.

How do you go about finding the scanners than can then locate drop pods? I'm guessing you just have to get lucky that you come across one while flying along the surface of a planet and scanning the area?
