Yeah... But given this gen's track records with delayed games still being crap after getting delayed, I wouldn't hold your breath on the finished product being that much better.
I was being sarcastic, Walt Disney didn't say that but you can put his name on anything.

Agreed, but I also don't see delays getting better until it can be proven to hurt them with spreadsheet evidence.

Just look at the public opinion of the game already... Every single Final Fantasy thread is a massacre. Even threads about other JRPGs or even fan made games are a FFXV massacre. This game is a laughing stock to most. Is there even any other game that people love to hate that much? Having a huge release announcement event and overturning everything again is the icing on this big mess of a cake.

If they need the delay, they need the delay, true! They know very well how big of a blow this is...but they must think it is worth to take this blow in the bigger picture of things. Still, this is all so embarrassing and awful. :( (If this is true and I'm starting to believe it is.)

I doubt Gaf is representive of the general player/ff fan.

What...? You are aware the opinion for the demos and trailers have been mostly positive, right?

The game's history has been a punchline. A delay after that hyped up release announcement event is just going to be another joke headline and then everyone will move on.

Not really. Check out the demos ratings on PSN, for example.

Don't let GAF's usual negativity influence your perspective.
PSN ratings are my go-to barometer to understand the public's perception of a game.

I don't think anyone can be representative of an "FF fan" since that's such a weird, divided group. Like more divided than other fanbases really.

I'm okay with that.
Like, i would have preffered the original date, but i guess this is for the best.
If it comes with a good, improved Neo version i might jump on that as well.

Only worrying thing is that it will take me at least a couple of months to finish the game, and that's roughly when Persona 5 comes out lol

GAF is not the only gaming forum that I frequent nor the only other gamers I ever meet. ;)
I know quite a few non-GAFers that thought Duscae was literally unplayable (because of the framerate) and the battle system shit and the Platinum Demo made them decide against buying the game because it was not how they expected or wanted the game to be.

I like playing games with great combat, I've just never expected it from a Final Fantasy. It's always serviceable at best and occasionally stimulating on a tactical level.
With the exceptions of IX and XIII, which I have very little nice to say about in respect to combat (IX, I can still generally say good things about when it comes to other aspects, XIII, not so much), serviceable at best is exactly how I would describe the combat systems in most of them.

I don't think people outside of the hardcore audience know about the 10 year history or even what Final Fantasy Versus XIII was/is. At worst maybe they watched the Uncovered Event, but even still this was a game announced in 2013 to them in a world where everything is delayed.

I'd be fine with that. More polish and it would mean I could buy SMT IV Apocalypse instead of holding out til I had more time to play it.

Would give me more time for P5, I don't mind one bit. Especially if it comes with some form of Neo enhancement, leading me to buy a Neo in the process.

Public opinion of the game lol...

None of my friends read Neogaf and most of them are getting FFXV, even those that haven't played a Final Fantasy before.

I'm with Yian, from what I've seen they're pretty mixed. I thought it was just above average from the two demos they've put out, didn't enjoy the combat and the performance was spotty on PS4 (this might get ironed out, who knows).

Ffs, I really hope not. I booked the last of my holidays for the end of September and I can't change them now. November and December are the busy time for me and it would be January before I can give the dedicated time needed to play this game.

I'm hyped for this game and I can't wait to play it. It looks absolutely amazing visually and I love the fan service.

Oh, no! GAF's usual hate squad! Let's worry about this game!

See how it works?

An intransparent 5 star system vs people actually describing what they disliked. I wonder what gives us more information.

You can talk about GAFs "negativity" or "hate squad" all you want, but people had a lot of legitimate complaints about the demos and the E3 presentation for example. I'm not talking about people clicking a like or dislike button here. Actually reading the threads shows that there's a lot of mixed feelings about FFXV. Doesn't matter if you're on GAF or somewhere else.

I think Perfo has a strong challenger for the crown.

Well the news will crush my soul if this delay happens, but if in just two months they can make a difference in how it runs, well I'm forced to accept happily. It's the best game of this generation so better they ship it in perfect condition so can get that 99/100 score on metacritic and being the best FF ever.

Eh I dunno.

My (I guess, "casual") friends seem pretty into FF15. They're jazzed about the cutting edge graphics and *epic* scale.

Anecdotal, I know but it's some food for thought

the platinum demo was really not that well received. the e3 presentation was even worse. you can't honestly tell me that public opinion of this game is really that high.

I think FFXV will sell alright to "casuals" as there will be a huge marketing blast (unless they completely botch that too)

But that could quickly turn around and hurt long term sales and perception of the game and franchise

I wouldn't call the demos reception positive but the overall certainty wasn't negative either. And none of the people on this website can tell what the public opinion is period good or bad. This is the same place that was questioning why a watch dogs 2 exists...

Lol at the people coming into this thread to say they don't care about this game anymore. When you go out of your way to say you don't care, it becomes abundantly clear that you care very much.

I doubt it with them making so big fuzz about Uncovered, but if it happened I wouldn't be that sad as Persona 5 is here in one month.

That's not how it works.

I'll buy it and I'm here talking about it, but if they cancelled the release altogether I wouldn't care. It's not a game I need.

Gameplay in the demo was meh, characters are meh, marketing is meh, technically it's meh. There's nothing exceptional about it. I don't get the feeling of "I need to explore this world" like with previous FF games (before XIII)

True for persona 5 fans in Japan/those importing it, but those waiting for the localization have to wait till February lol.

As much as I'd like to play FFXV in September, if they need to delay it a few more months (or even into next year, if it means an even greater product), then I'm all for it. The next few months are packed with games (for me, anyway), so it's not as though there's a shortage on that end.

I've waited this long, I can last a while more.

I avoid most of the comments in FFXV threads because they are over analysing low quality YouTube video or magnifying foliage in the distance to find jaggies.

The first and second demo were really early builds and were testing out the Battle system and getting feedback. The platinum demo was created by 2 or 3 people and it was more of a teaser for the event than anything.

The E3 demo looked amazing pity the actual player was terrible but we have seen the same gameplay played properly.

That's nice and all, but maybe releasing them was a bad idea.
If they can't make a good battle system without feedback from the public (and they can't) that doesn't really fill me with confidence

Doesn't address my other points either

The E3 titan demo was garbage. The player wasn't terrible, they chose to show a section that had you avoiding attacks until your party arrives that ends with killing the boss with pressing A for awesome. That's not what makes a good demo or a good RPG

The technical problems are the least of my worries tbh

This shit is so. Tired now bruh I legit can't same tired ass posts from the same exact people that don't like the game

Yes we should only let people post that like the game. HYPE TRAIN CHOO CHOO

whether or not platinum demo was made by 2-3 people and is not polished or meant to be polished, its still the only way the vast majority of people can play this game. it was a trainwreck. they really should not have released that.
