LOL watch em drop in and try to nitpick if it's an actual river.
If there is not flow is not a river just a small lake arm no matter how long it is

E3 Walkthrough: "Completely unscripted planet chosen at random!"

Remember how just asking "But what do you actually DO in No Man's Sky?" got so many people up in arms?
Because for many, having to answer that question and/or see that deflated some of their hype, and hype is all that matters. Hell, I've lost track of the number of times I've seen people in OTs complaining that people criticizing the game need to leave the topic. Some people just want an echo chamber of endless hype and positivity about a thing they've decided they're going to like.

I haven't even had a chance to play it yet but this stuff is really making me not even want to open it. I may just return it.
For the same price I got this limited edition, I could buy Luigis Mansion + Animal Crossing 3DS, plus Lego City Undercover and Wind Waker HD for Wii U. Those 4 games vs this...
And, y'know... This is why reviews exist. It's not like he asked for Kickstarter money or anything. Everyone had the opportunity to read critical impressions before purchasing. (I'm not 100% familiar with when the review embargo was listed compared to when the game launched, but, well, this is why preorders are dumb in most cases.)
A river is a definable thing you know.
Do you not realize that words have meanings?Do you realize how fucking ridiculous this is getting? Can you see that?
Perhaps, but whataboutism isn't really the point is it?True, but if you test that against most videogame 'rivers' you'll be disappointed.
Has anyone posted CrowbCat's video yet?
It's lacking the collecting/hoarding aspect of AC but it has a nice relaxed vibe. Can be nice to chuck some music on and explore a few planets.I haven't even had a chance to play it yet but this stuff is really making me not even want to open it. I may just return it.

it's going to be fun to see how people continue to defend hello games.
Don't preorder games.
My disappointment with the game is mostly to do with the flight mechanics. Having the planets all so close together makes the space flight seem more like a loading screen than a simulation of space flight, I think I would have prefered jumping between orbits and some more realistic physics.
The in atmosphere flight was immediately disappointing when I jumped in the ship (had to change the controls to be the correct way for flight - should have been a red flag) and tried to fly under an arch, only to find there was a floor I couldn't close to the ground.
Yeah, the in atmosphere flight is really the biggest disappointment for me. I really hope it gets retooled in the future, because it could potentially be an incredible amount of funMy disappointment with the game is mostly to do with the flight mechanics. Review copies were never given.

That's not true.
Because this kind of list is crap. I don't know how developers are ok with the blatant attacks this game gets on features that didn't make it into the game. I hope, at some point, other devs come to the the aid of Murray and his team because this type of witch hunt is created just to kill a game studio because some don't like the game or didn't like that a game was getting so much hype.
It's in a folder called 'screenshots' though?
And the planet 1, 2, 3 aren't in the E3 folder.
Do you not realize that words have meanings?
Said it before and I'll say it again.
Molyneux and Wright had great games under their belt. This was pure marketing hype from a largely unproven developer.

that's so pedantic though. It's a video game, for all intents and purposes that's a river. You can't expect someone to introduce a complex system to a body of water just to meet a dictionary definitionDo you not realize that words have meanings
Review copies were not given before the launch day

Still not true I'm afraid.
But you're right that they didn't give enough time for reviewers to gather solid impressions.
Regardless - launch-day reviews aren't a prerequisite. Why not just wait until reviews have landed? You don't need to get the game day one or week one.
That's not a current, it's an object moving to fill a spaceFor a simulation game no.

if you have to post what you did, then i dont think you can say the game was worth itPosted this in a locked thread about NMS:
Still having a blast 25 hours (or so) in and havent done any of the "story" stuff...
But I'm wrong. No, Ill admit it, Im happy Im able to enjoy this game but Im kind of wrong for doing so. I dont think its a bad game, just did not live up to promises and expectations, and in many ways the devs mislead the audience to believe that features were there that aren't, and Sean hasn't responded to the public apologizing or clarifying, which is what perturbs me the most.
I wont apologize for liking the game, but I have to say people are right to be pissed. Its pretty clear they did lie (deceive). Even if everything they had promised had been in the game, it still would have been lacking.
Its such a shame because Sean was I guy I wanted to cheer for, and Hello Games I wanted to succeed. But, not like this. This is success at the expense of true artistic pursuit. I dont know whether or not this is wholly political, or a cash grab, or they were just burnt out developing the game, but its pretty clear that it needed more time and absolutely needed to implement everything they talked about.
As it stands, Im probably going to put a few more hours in, get to the center, and get a badass ship and call it quits. I think thats pretty good for a game so im pretty satisfied.
Really? There were review copies given before the release day? I did not hear of this

Small teams need to market their games and need to show unfinished version of their game to get any sort of market space. Leeway needs to be given to any team to make the right decisions on whats best for their game. I understand the multiplayer complaint but most of this is list is just petty and hate. NMS sycophants are disgusting but so are the people on the other side who are trying to destroy the game studio who spent 3 years trying to create their game.
Lol you're being silly here. It's a videogame with tasks and description that can be written under one page or less.
Yeah, I just checked and they totally do.Minecraft rivers do have currents though.
That's not a current, it's an object moving to fill a space
That list was longer than I expected... I thought it was just multiplayer haha

What? Tasks and descriptions?Lol It's a videogame with tasks and description that can be written under one page or less. It's not a river.
It's just a joke about how everything they showed at these events was scripted even though they said it wasn't.It's in a folder called 'screenshots' though?

The game was already delayed two months. To promise that the game might be finished a year or two from now won't make much of a difference in the present, especially considering the game's price of $60. If the game's finally finished a long time from now when it costs $1 in a Humble Bundle, I don't think people who bought it at launch are going to be all that happy.Couldn't Sean and his team just patch all those missing features in; along with all new content and wishlist-features?
Wouldn't that make everyone perfectly happy?
I went into this game playing it for 20+ hours thinking that getting to the center of the universe would actually mean something and be worthwhile. Because as far as objectives go, that's the only objective you've really got the entire game.FWIW most of the features mentioned in the list are quality of life features, not features core to the experience. The broadest descriptions of the game provided by Murray are almost exactly how the game turned out.
It's pretty flawed, but it's very close to the broad vision outlined.
This is a huge issue I have with all of the people suggesting they'll just keep patching a bunch of content in over time.If only game development was that easy...
You do constantly get a lot of "man... it would be so cool if the game did THIS other thing right here" in pretty much every aspect of the game, like I just thought about how awesome it would be just being able to mine stuff in space from asteroids from your ship without ever having to make planetfall, and that warping your body eventually ala Belters from The Expanse. Then real space stations, real aliens, etc. Oh well, someday...
Couldn't Sean and his team just patch all those missing features in; along with all new content and wishlist-features?

Yeah, I actually wonder if it does? The next body of water I see I'll shoot some of the coast with the launcher and see if the water moves to fill itWhatever you want to call it I don't think NMS has that either.

On 1.0, certainly.Did they have currents at launch?
