Rumor: Next MacBook Pros to have OLED touch strip, Touch ID in Q4

Well, I got impatient and don't want to wait for the pro reveal. After shopping around for the last two days, decided to pull the trigger on the regular 12" MB with m7. I didn't know you could configure the 256GB version to the M7, that price a bit more tolerable. Either way, glad to be done looking at laptops for the time being. I just don't see myself doing any hardcore work on a laptop to justify going up to the MBP even though the new one looks to be pretty slick based on leaks. This is my first ever Mac... feels weird (even though I use my wife's Air all the time)

Will definitely sell my newest model 13" pro for this. Although I may wait until the second iteration. I got the first gen unibody back in 2008 and immediately regretted it when they upgraded it like 6 months later.

Probably not. Anything below 15" usually has integrated graphics.

And even then it's been the very top of the line 15" with dGPU.

Actually... has there even been any 13" rumors? The chassis with the space for the OLED touch strip seems to only be the 15" model.

Can even be a 14", depending on bezel, if we are to believe Apple is shaking up the laptop sizes (as per the MacBook being 12"). Or did the 14" rumors die?

MacBook (12") with MacBook Pro (14") and MacBook Pro (16") would be a nice way to fill up the line almost all the way to the old 17", without too much product clutter.

Code discovered within the macOS Sierra beta suggests the operating system will include support for second-generation USB 3.1 transfer speeds of up 10Gb/s, hinting at hardware upgrades that will be included in future Macs set to be released later this year.

Found in a localizable text string in macOS Sierra by 9to5Mac, the code points to support for "Super Speed Plus," another name for the faster 10Gb/s USB 3.1 Gen 2 specification. Current Macs (and OS X El Capitan) only support current-generation USB 3.1, capable of reaching transfer speeds of up to 5Gb/s, so the obvious conclusion is that Apple is planning to add USB 3.1 Gen 2 support to its upcoming Mac machines.

Kaby Lake natively supports USB 3.1 Gen 2 and Thunderbolt 3. Confirmation all new iMacs and MacBook Pros to get Kaby Lake and not Skylake? Could explain why it's been so long with no new hardware updates.

I am so torn on getting a MacBook Pro or iMac when the revisions are released. My 2012 MacBook Air is still good, but I need a little more umf as my main computer.

so does this mean i will be able to use Razer core or external GPU boxes ?

There has been a rumor they are doing a new retina 5k cinema/thunderbolt display that has a built in GPU.

Only because older computers and computers with base model video cards wouldn't be able to output the necessary resolution with those displays.

Excited for this new MBP. Can't wait to see what they bring to the table.

Almost all the rumours from credible "leakers" point to it not being revealed on the 7th. I still hold hope they will unveil it but we shall see. I'd like to think that with a lacklustre iPhone release Apple would want to show something exciting...

Hey guys. They are just holding these to coincide with th realease of Sierra right?

What? Sierra already launched you say? No date in sight you say? 😫

They forgot they left the headphone jack in their new computers, hence the delays.

My old MacBook Pro is slowly breaking down and I know it's going to force me to buy a new one just before the next gen MacBook Pros get announced.

Especially hearing that there's now a "Coffee Lake" stage in between Kaby Lake and Cannonlake (tick-tock-tock-tock?), here's hoping Apple gets a lot of future-proofiness into the next round of Macs (even though DisplayPort 1.4 suipport, needed for 5K over a single USB-C cable, isn't getting native Intel support until Cannonlake IIRC).

Thunderbolt 3 can do 5K over a single cable because it can run two DP 1.3 streams at once. It'd be MST behind the scenes, but over one cable.

Same here. My screen's falling off, the keyboard completely stopped working, the headphone jack is busted and doesn't work, the CD drive eats CDs, the rubber nubs have all fallen off the bottom leaving big holes. This is the most inconvenient and worst shape laptop I've ever had. I need a new one soon. Apple pls.

I remember my 2007 white MacBook. It made it 2 years before everything started falling apart. Should have seen it as a warning when it developed the "crackbook" flaw in the top case before its first year ran out. Later it got crackbook again, the CPU would overheat from the simplest things. Even the fans couldn't help. One of the fans developed a grinding sound. The screen was yellowing. I kept it alive for a whole year after this on life support. I took off the topcase to let air filter in and had to disable the fan because of the sound. I hadn't seen a computer fall apart that badly since my brothers Compaq Presario. I ran it connected to a keyboard, mouse and display and finally bought the 2010 MacBook Pro when it FINALLY came out that year. Funny enough that machine is still running like the day it was made. My dad uses it. It's pushing 6.5 years now and will probably make it past next summer when I assume macOS will cut off support for 2010 Pro models. It's the longest living Mac I've ever had that was still used. I retired my original iMac after 2 years. My 2005 mini was retired in 2007 when I got the MacBook. And even my current rMBP is coming up on 3 years now and aside from the keyboard being faulty it runs like a champ. I could probably get 2-3 more years out of it if I wanted to. Unless I fall victim to the siren call of the new machines coming out.

I'm imagining people using just piles of garbage connected with frayed wires with a random keyboard somewhere while waiting for new MBPs

Bloody joke this all is.

Come on Apple show this off next month.

- Matte Black

- Kaby Lake

- DCI-P3 Retina Display
