Is this something people would use? The body count in FPS games would be frighting.

I use the xim to shit on them, this is no different. Not 1:1 but close enough. Just be glad we dont have aiming with the touch pad in any game since 1:1 would be possible. Also tried playing with half a controller before it sucks just get the keypad version.

We had this kind of thing on 360 and PS3 as well, using a mouse doesn't automatically make you better but it obviously provides an advantage. Very few people in the online space will actually be using one of these so it's safe to say it won't have much of an impact.

Mouse doesn't work like a mouse in cases like this if it's not officially supported.

It feels like you're moving an analog stick with a mouse.

Terrible in my opinion.

This looks like yet another attempt similar to what Splitfish did with their awful FragFx controllers. I'm actually amazed that company is still running considering their controllers were not only poor quality physically but the software running on them was complete shit.

The Hori's controller half looks awkward as hell to hold. Just try holding your DS4 with one hand for any length of time and you'll notice it's not very comfortable. Maybe cutting off the right grip improves its balance and weight enough.

Despite having the capability to support actual mice, Sony does not allow this on the PS4 to keep the playing field level. Thus the mouse part will have to emulate the controller right stick and frankly this does not work well. It feels and responds nothing like a proper mouse does.

A much better design for this would've been something like the Steam Controller with the right stick replaced by a trackpad. Even when emulating a joystick it can be setup so that it feels quite accurate and responsive. But when the device is a mouse the motion to use it changes and it feels awkward to use.

I honestly wouldn't play many console FPS campaings if I didn't have my XIM. It's OP online as well, though I don't play multiplayer that much.

I wish Sony/MS just added optional official mouse/kb support for singleplayer only.

It reminds me of a MMO keyboard, except that you can hold it like half a controller instead of having to keep it on a surface. So it might actually be comfortable.

Too bad it's up to the games to actually support mouse input, so it's kind of pointless.

This is true but if you max the sensitivity up you can get close enough to have an advantage.

No way, I remember getting the game very early on and there was no option to turn off aim assist despite having customizable controls for each hero.

Guess I have a reason to try the game again now, aim assist was the complete opposite of its name for me.

The complete opposite is literally what it was doing lol

A big part of this will come down to the weight distribution in the controller and how well it balances in your left hand.

It could also be useful while using the Move controller in PSVR games if it's configured to do that.

Honestly, this stuff, and Xim might eventually stop me bothering playing multiplayer FPS games at all unless they start to detect and outlaw this. Last I heard about potential Xim detects/bans was Black Ops 1, and I dunno if it worked, because I've heard nothing since.

Console has been great for this so far because it's a setup where you don't have to hunker down at a desk with a mouse to compete. It's a nice level playing field, not an arms race.

Online competitive games are fundamentally about completion, Losing sucks, winning is fun, most games are somewhere in between, but if enough people are using things like this doing 'better' is harder, and suddenly you have to 'arm up' and get a desk and monitor to approximately compete, i'm out.

The XIM, which is the best way to have a mouse on a console, has been around for a long time now and it seems to be successful even at its rather high price point. So yeah, it definitely is something people would use.

I have no clue how common the use of this stuff is, but I'm sure anyone at the top of leaderboards is using these.

I play FPS on pc like this all the time, aim with mouse move with left analog on my xbox 360 pad. Jump on left bumper, crouch on left stick. Love it. And I do ok too.
