"We know fans are curious about the state of a Windows 10 PC demo for Forza Horizon 3. A standalone “Forza Horizon 3” PC demo will be released sometime after launch. We invite all players who are eager to play Forza on PC to try “Forza Motorsport 6: Apex”, available now in the Windows 10 Store for free. The Windows 10 version of “Forza Horizon 3” has been built in lockstep with our learnings from “Forza Motorsport 6: Apex”, which just released out of Beta last week and added wheel support. We’re dedicated to bringing the quality and innovation our fans expect from Forza to the PC, and we’re confident players will have a fantastic experience with “Forza Horizon 3” at launch."

Kudos to them for being upfront about it.

Sad that it can't be here sooner but this means a lot.

Better than a kick in the nuts I suppose!

Loads of PC impressions will be knocking about at launch anyway for anyone undecided.

Glad that it's at least getting a Demo, better than nothing I suppose.

Yup. It sucks but it's way better to be up front about it rather than keeping peeps in the dark.

It's a fantastic thing for potential PC customers to be able to have a demo though. Probably the best way to make an informed decision before you purchase if it's done right and it looks like it is.

Only bummer is missing out on the pre order incentives if it does turn out to run well enough to purchase. It would be nice if they extended those.

This does not bode well for the PC release.

I mean, when in doubt wait for reviews.

Demo's in general are a very rare thing these days let alone on PC. It's a very special thing when a AAA game gets one. But just because a game might not have one doesn't mean that it doesn't bode well for it. Plenty of really great performing games have released without demos. It's just that they are probably the best tools for consumers to make informed buying decisions. Even more so than reviews I would say.

I just wanted to play the game before launch like the other people who paid just as much for the game as I did.

:/

Free Demo's aren't a gift to paying customers. They are an effort towards marketing the game.

Shipping a demo is extra work, and shouldn't take focus away from getting a polished game out on time.

Hope it doesn't suffer the random hitching like apex. I get good frames but every so often it hitches and stutters for no apparent reason and no adjustment of settings changes this. I will definitely wait for the demo

Well Demos have been replaced by "BETAS" and you can get the gist from that. Some games that typically have excluded PC from betas or demos have done that for a reason. I dunno we'll see I have an Xbox anyway so might just buy digital.

A BETA isn't everlasting and usually ends before launch...

A demo sticks around for the life of the game typically.

and here we go...did u even try apex? it was very well optimized.
Why do people keep saying that? They are two different games. Look at Battlefield 3 then Battlefield 4. Would you say the same thing about those two? "Did you even try Battlefield 3" could you imagine selling someone on BF4 like that at release or "Did you even play Arkham City?" When selling someone on Arkham Knight. They'd have your head.

That's really disappointing, but understandable...
They should have said it at the same time they announced the X1 demo.

It's not at all the same as that. BF3 and BF4 are on different engines.

FH3 and Apex are running on essentially the same engine and share a lot of design. The performance comp is pretty clear.

Apex has odd performance issues on the Abu Dhabi track for example. I just can't get a solid 60fps on a 1060GTX with i7 and this is leaving the game to dynamically adjust the detail. I hope they optimized the engine further.

Forza 6 is a 60 fps Xbox One game. FH3 is a 30 fps Xbox One game. There are enough complaints about Apex stuttering/hitching issues that I'm not filled with confidence in FH3, a more demanding title, on PC. The after release demo, further convinces me that the port is a corporate mandated afterthought. At least it will exist at some point, so trying before putting any money down is possible.

Kind of defeats the half its purpose, but better than nothing.

All games must be purchased on the day of release, never after. PC releases never have technical issues based on build, so no one would like to see performance first-hand on their system.

Well, like, because the developers suggested it?

I don't get this. How does this defeat the purpose? Do you think everyone either preorders the game, or never buys the game at all?

Read gaf and you will know within an hour or two of release the shape the pc release is.

I said half its purpose, not that it's completely useless. Settle down. Making it post release means you can already get some idea of how it runs due to what launch owners report, and obviously there will be lots of information about the actual quality of the game.

I'm not saying it's obsolete, far from it (excellent in fact for getting an idea who it will run on your specific setup), but demos are always much more useful if they're out before the release date.

Well gewilikers developers have never lead me astray before!

Well if you don't want to miss out on content you better pre-order it.

People who are shittalking performance and other things need to understand that the game is running great already. As APEX is using the same engine.

But will the stuttering be fixed? That's my main issue with Apex, and other people claim the same as well.

Still getting it, but my 4690k and GTX 970 had some issues with Apex. I had it on the default scaling for graphics and it would have split seconds of freezing where my FPS would dip to between 50-58 then back up again. Wish it was smooth.

At least we're getting something, but i ain't pre-ordering. So will wait after the reviews and demo.

There are lots of weird performance drops in Apex! Apex is a good indication but does not guarantee anything. I can perfectly understand why people would want a demo of the game before release. Even more so with the horrible UWP game releases in the past.

Awesome to hear. Will certainly wait.

ed:Apex runs great on my HW 1080/60vsync'd,something dynamic, something as per my wishing
3770k @4.4, 7970GHz 3GB, 16GB RAM, Win10 64x

good for you. apex doesn't run great for me, I get a shit ton of stuttering and the game struggles to stay at 60fps, while only using ~30% of my GPU power.

How? Demos - especially on PC - are so rare these days that I can't see how you would deduct that the game must have issues from this. See DOOM and its post-release demo as the most recent example...

Doom Demo was also updated to include Vulkan support which is awesome.

A demo to try out the port shortly after release is fine by me. Before release would've been great but ah well, as long as we get one.

Guess I'm waiting on the preorder then

I'm pretty sure Playground won't fuck it up but it won't hurt to wait till the 23th and hear the opinions of those that picked the Ultimate Edition

Guess I won't be buying till after launch then. Very disappointing to miss out on that day one experience with my xbox buds.

Very sour taste in the mouth right about now.
