For some reason when I read this line I can't help but think of a Fresh Prince rap for Noctis.
Ha ha, doooo it. Or I will....

In the Citadel is where I spent most of my days
Chillin' out maxin' relaxin' all cool
And all fat shaming Prompto outside of the school
Hope the Pro version can improve the shitty hair. It's so distracting when everything else looks good.
Yeah, he's a real realist. Not prone to lofty goals or exaggeration at all.
Yup. For sure.

That's a lotta grass.
This is a bad post. Trailer could be more exciting tho? Graphics look improved.Xenoblade x vibes
Yup, I'd say another FF thread has ripened on the vine.
Sorry you feel that way.Final Fantasy XV - A Tragedy
No FFVIIR or KH3 trailers as expected but we did get to see the progress on the Play Arts Kai models:
Probably not thread worthy but man is R!Barret's design good.
There are scenes that show her will and resolve is strong i.e Leviathan fight and shrugging off the guards while looking badass. Then there is this slap scene. People will just side with the narrative that fits their agenda while ignoring the rest.So... if a woman gets slapped, or isn't physically strong... that makes her weak? It's a little sad how so many people in this thread seem to think that the only way for a woman to be considered strong is if she's out there swinging around a sword and kicking butt or something.
Also, I've seen many people talk about how Luna appears to just be another "Yuna" character. Well, even if that's the case, it's not like female characters that go around kicking butt are exactly unique either. They're a dime a dozen nowadays. There's been plenty of female characters in the FF franchise that fit this type.
Either way, I'll reserve judgement on Luna's character until I actually see what she does and says in the game. One quick scene in a trailer isn't enough to make me immediately write her off as a "weak" character.
Poor Nomura, only had 10 years to deliver a working game.Final Fantasy XV - A Tragedy

I think boiling down people's concerns to such a one note viewpoint is very irritating.
Do you think if you repeat something often enough, it becomes true?
Honestly there'd be less of this if Luna's detractors more clearly articulated their concerns. Like, what could they show that would meet people's criteria for strength? Is getting slapped necessarily counter to that?

I want to see her actually show this strength of character Tabata keeps promising us is there and makes her character worth it. Facing off against Leviathan, and brushing a gun away are, while cool, not what i'm looking for when i think about strength of character. I want her to be in control of a situation and have the game show her actually dictating events. Seeing her make that speech to the people, in order to get them to stand up against oppression was a single good step in the right direction.
Stella obsession continues to be the strangest fan reaction I have seen in the last 5 years.
Imagine if a fan got to see inside the game studio at the hundreds of characters that have been concepted and cut from the game. They would literally go insane.
"Boiling it down"? There were a good number of people in this thread that either called Luna "weak" or made some kind of jab at Tabata's description of Luna being strong, after seeing that slap in the trailer.
If you weren't one of them, then obviously my comment wasn't directed at you.
The idea that a strong woman is a manly woman is just so wrong on every level. And that's the only thing I see here in response to the character of Luna. Being resolute and strong doesn't mean fighting with a huge sword you know. And getting slapped what's wrong with it? Even prompto is slapped. So for a man is expected but to a woman is more offensive because is a woman? Genre equality or not? I can't stop seeing all the contradictions.

Gonna have Noctis wearing the fuck out of this.

I mean the most human thing they've shown is a bullshot of her chilling with Gentiana, and even there she's holding a picture of a dude she hasn't seen in 13 years. She's written SOLELY around Noctis and nothing else which as a strongefemalecharacter in 2016 isn't very inspiring or relatable.I don't think anyone here is explicitly saying this. The problem with Luna is she's a generic princess whose purpose is to further the main male character Noctis and right now it doesn't look like there's much beyond that. On top of that, all of the external claims of "strong female character" have really backfired with what we saw in Kingsglaive so it's not hard to see why people are questioning it.

You two are no less picking and choosing your own favored narrative. Do remember that the first time Luna was presented, she was a sitting pretty girl, and it wasn't until backlash that we suddenly have unrealistic gun-pushing scene (as if all the soldiers would lower all their guns just because she pushed one out of her face!) and Leviathan.Yes, so many people just see that one thing and doesn't see her determination to help Noctis stood up against Leviathan
In the context of the scene, the focus is on Ardyn, without you seeing Luna's face. What that means is Luna took a slap to serve to make Ardyn look more evil. What year is it, that writing scenes with female characters as props to characterize male characters could be excused?So... if a woman gets slapped, or isn't physically strong... that makes her weak? Here's a thing, based on everything they've shown us, can you possibly see her ever getting into conflict or disagreeing with Noctis on anything? That's the difference, we've seen the guys get conflicted multiple times but she seems borderline obsessed with the dude.EVERYTHING in this game is written solely around Noctis. He's the would-be-king, everyone is there to support him rising up to whatever challenges the story throws at him.
Still think some of you are being too harsh on her. She's not physically strong and yeah, a lot of what she does she does for Noctis, but she's still not some weak-ass princess who shies away from danger & hard times. Not the most ideal female character, but far from some insult to women everywhere like some of you portray her as.
