Let's Talk About PlayStation VR: List of Upcoming Titles

Did anyone else notice that when the North American PSN updated yesterday, under "Coming Soon" there's now some kind of VR short film collection called Within? There's only a 30 second trailer and some screen captures available for it, but I was surprised to see it in there. I don't know whether it will be free or not.

Within is on the demo disc that comes with the headset.

Hoping to pick one up day one from a store. Only thing Im worried about is that there is no way they dont come out with improved motion controllers in the future

OP, you have a video link to Super Stardust Ultra in the first post. That game is completely different than Super Stardust Ultra VR in this video link.

Fantastic thread, BTW. Too bad you didn't reserve the second post.

Robinson: The Journey is not gonna support PS Move (at least not from day 1), because they think Move Controllers aren't in enough PS4 homes, while DS4 obviously is.

Don't know if that's new, but I thought Move support was a no-brainer, the protagonist actually carries one ingame...I'll wait for the patch then.

What an stupid excuse to no implement Move support... I understand that you won't make it move only for that reason... but not implementing move support when the character is using a movelike tool... is absurd

Also a lot of ppl will get move controllers now with PSVR, if they haven't already bought cheap ones before the headset comes out.

That's just foolish. I'll be holding off as well then (or buy it when its cheap if they don't add support).

You can understand a lack of move support in cockpit/driving based games..but in a game where the main character holds a move like device it seems crazy not to support it. Bizarre choice.

This is definitely concerning, if a "flagship" game is making this choice, I think we will find a lot of others do the same, unless the proliferation of Move controllers picks up.

Hilarious! Watched the trailer yesterday and it sold me on the Move. Wtf!

Yeah. I hope Move supports keeps up. Have yet to try PS VR with just a DS4, but I can't imagine it feeling as great for these kind of games as Moves.

Count me on the wait for a patch group I guess.

Man. I'm still torn. The responsible thing to do is not blow $500 in October, but this is like the future, man. I won't starve or anything, but my savings will be significantly cut...

Oh lord idk

I already knew that Robinson would not use the move, I think they already stated this some time ago... still it's a stupid decision to me... the game feels like it's designed to use the move... :\

That said, I hope they will patch it, and also that many game will feature the use of the Move because:
1- It's a preipherial that is already available to many, and a nice price
2- It's perfect for VR instead of the pad

At least they should let people choose how to play the game. I know it's not so easy to implement, but it can change completely the experience and for me the buy/not buy of a game.

I'd say go for it. :)

Unless you have other important stuff you won't be able to pay for. I don't think there's going to be a price drop for a long long time for this.

Personally i would wait should be stock by black friday and by then should have a good idea of what people think and level of software support etc. I say this as someone with PSVR on preorder (and not going to cancel) but it is not going to significantly cut my savings. What if you car breaksdown/get medical bills/tv breaks etc there are more important things this is very much a luxury and don't think waiting a month or 2 to see how it is recieved is a bad bet if not got the money to splash imo.

When I watched that 30 minute Polygon video my first thought was "I'm not sure how this would work with a move controller, especially since they don't appear to have teleportation built in," so I'm not surprised to hear Robinson doesn't support Move. That isn't to say it can't, but I imagine it will require a not insignificant amount of effort.

Well...my car probably needs brakes and tires, but I literally drive less than 5 miles a day.
Hmmm

Do you have a bike? And could you even bike it? Plus tires and brakes are not really a good idea not to replace when you need to, are pretty important for stopping! Would really reccomend you sort your car! Do you have a pre-order anyway as not much hope of getting it day 1 now if not, other option is to flip your preorder for a small profit and pick it up a couple of months later.

This is the best response.

Trackmania Turbo is on sale in Europe if you want to pick it up ready for the VR patch on Nov 8th: https://store.playstation.com/#!/en... today on PlayStation StoreTrackmania® Turbo

Thank you for that. I played the demo, bought the game and now I have a new addiction.

Looking forward to the VR patch, the game is intense enough in the car cam view as it is, having it directly injected into my eyes is going to be epic.

It'll be amusing to see my nephews try it in VR at Christmas time. It will melt their teenage minds.

If you held a DS4 or nav controller in your left hand, you wouldn't need teleporting. The real reason you'd want teleporting is to prevent motion sickness. I'm really curious what the feedback will be on all the games using sliding locomotion. I got sick after 5-10 minutes trying out a game with it yesterday (Onward on Vive).

Another video from the PS Access guys, this time focusing on VR Worlds: Scavengers.

The nav doesn't seem to be supported with PSVR (no announced games use it), and while it hasn't been ruled out, I don't think we're going to see the "hold DS4 in one hand with move in the other" control scheme.

I certainly hope we come up with a better solution for locomotion in VR than teleportation, but right now it appears to be the best way to limit the effects of motion sickness.

I'm interested in seeing how well Highwire's "lean to move" implementation works, and Here they Lie sounds like it handles sliding motion elegantly, by gradually turning your character in the direction you're looking when you press forward. What I've read about how Mind Path to Thalamus deals with locomotion sounds interesting as well. You turn your head and your body follows, and don't actually move forward until your realignment is complete.

My issue with controller movement in VR is right stick camera orientation. Smooth motion makes me sick quickly, and I find the incremental motion immersion breaking and distracting. It's not a solution for a seated experienced, but I've found with the Gear VR, that I feel just fine moving with the left stick as long as I can turn about 360 degrees myself while standing or sitting in a swivel chair.

That's disappointing to hear, but I think it's still a launch day title for me. VR dinosaurs. My wife would kill me if I DON'T buy this game and she can't try it out, she's a huge Jurassic Park fan, so unless there are some other VR dinosaur games, I'll live without the Move implementation.

To be clear, this isn't official word from the developer, just my reactions to the footage. It looked like movement and object manipulation were primarily designed to be handled with a controller, as were the climbing sections of the game.

Unrelated: This Euroagmer article states that over half of Rocksteady were working on Batman VR, which is encouraging. I rather enjoy the detective aspects of the Arkham games, so I'm looking forward this.

About 30 minutes of gameplay of Tethered, from EGX. I wish the game had a stronger art style, it just looks a bit bland and dreary. Gameplay looks interesting enough tho.

EDIT: Some Battlezone gameplay, also from EGX.

Had a random thought: I wonder whether playing regular 2D games in Cinema mode will offer any sort of benefit on a PS Pro. Since you're dealing with a fixed resolution inside the headset, do we see any of the benefits of downsampled image quality?

Now that I think of it, it's odd that Sony has hardly talked about or shown cinema mode. I expect that'll be shown off on the PS Blog in the coming weeks.

Why reset, why not just sync (PlayStation button)?

As for the battery life, you hardly can, because there are almost no PS4 games supporting Move. And the few that are there may not be what you'd like to do for a few hours just to test how the charge is holding up.

That is dissapointing and maybe I wait until I it will be patched or heavily discounted.

@Crytek
Dear Crytek, please support PS Move it is created for that purpose and without it mentioned in the preview it does not feel right.

I was excited for the game, but now I have serious doubts. :(

Connect them to your PS4 with a USB cable, hit the reset button hidden inside the wand, and see if it syncs up and charges.

Cheers, I might just sync it up and leave them on - see how many cycles they work for...tho the nav will be harder to test, might just have to play that by ear...I just didn't want to pick up the PSVR and have 2 dead moves :)

Yeah I thought for sure it was in even more so since the character holds a device that looks almost exactly like it, which would have been great for further immersion. I'll probably still get it but this is disappointing if this is the case since it seemed perfect for it.

Damn. Hopefully it's not too far away. :(

Awesome. Can't wait to play it.

If you find they can't hold their charge, you can still replace the battery. I heard that is relatively cheap and simple to do. But I didn't look for details because mine are still fine. Charged them once a year at least and recently replayed some Move games on PS3.
