Let's Talk About PlayStation VR: List of Upcoming Titles

I guess it was always only a rumor/speculation back when the Pro was still Neo and PS4K. Googling it definitely has a few sites mentioning it but it was never confirmed. I guess I just never followed up on that.

Classic case of GAF > Internet > GAF

I never understood why EVE gets put in the same list as games like DriveClub or RIGS.

Now to be fair, the games aren't out yet, but they already look to be a lot more fun than EVE ever will be. I had a good time with the game in my first 15 minutes. By the hour mark, I didn't want to touch it again.

There's reasons why the critic and user score are low.

What you don't know is that EVE is getting all the content at launch that Oculus had to get patched in, also when EVE launches on PSVR it will get 2 more single player missions and Cross-Play. So the reviews will be different as a whole content wise to PC.

Ihave preorders at Amazon and Best Buy...which should I keep?
I always go for Best Buy if something costs the same as on amazon. It'll likely arrive earlier, and the returns/exchanges are easier as well in case you change your mind or the unit is defective or something.

My favourite thing about this video is that IGN still thinks the breakout box acts as additional horsepower for PS4.

They also state you can still use wireless headphones instead of wired ones...which is technically true but only if you use the port on the PSVR headset as the audio signal for the transmitter (making the whole thing very cumbersome).

It's not out for 2 weeks, how log in advance would you expect that? Press has units, I'd guess the previews will start popping up in 7-10 days.

This. I understand why folks might be getting antsy, but it's not like we had extended previews of PS4 launch games two weeks before launch.

I played EVE in August so I'm sure it had more content than when it launched. It was still incredibly repetitive, and the single player campaign is serviceable at its very best, I'm sure those 2 extra missions won't suddenly make it fantastic. That said, you are right that maybe the reviews might have changed.

I hope Elite Dangerous comes to PSVR because then people can see what a true space game in VR is all about.

But the head set also has to connect to the box, so I don't know how you could hide it somewhere. Has there been any mention of how long the cables on the headset are?

I think the cables are about 15 feet long. I wasn't planning on leaving it plugged in to the processor box all the time and just plug it in as needed, like a controller. That way the box would have lived behind the PS4 hidden. Now I think I'm going to have to do it off to the side. I'm hesitant to put it on top of the system without knowing how much heat is generated.

I was never able to figure this out, but are headphones required? For those that have surround sound systems that are of high quality, wouldn't effectively do the same thing? Or is the proximity of the sound being right in yours part of the magic of fooling your brain?

I also thought you would need to have your headphones plugged into the device for the 3D audio to work. If you hook them up via Bluetooth aren't they just completely by passing the breakout box?

It's not the same effect for the 3D sound to work. You really need headphones. I say this as someone with a decent chunk of change invested in my surround system.

The audio is calculated by the box depending on the orientation of the head and the relative position of the sound source in the virtual world. There is no way the HDMI receiver could produce anything close to that aural experience. It is fully three-dimensional and a crucial part of the immersion.

The box is hooked up to the HDMI out though. It's theoretically possible for it to mix a 5.1 audio output that is based on your head position.

Speaker size/distance/height/etc would make it almost impossible to do correctly.
A proper setup takes position, distance and size into account. I'm sure the headphones will be easier and sound better, but I think theoretically you could simulate it with a surround sound setup. It would be more complicated since it has to coordinate the mix with the your positional rotation of your head but still doable.

Anyone planning on getting the gun adapter?

I don't expect there to be any issue as long as it doesn't run hot. Personally, I've never liked putting stuff on top of my systems.

Me either, but I really dont see any other way (with my current set up anyway) unless I can stand it vertically right next to it. But thats a personal effect i'll have to work out.

Heads up, you can preorder Here They Lie for $15.99 from Amazon with a Prime account.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01GW8WRG8/?tag=neogaf0e-20

It's also available at $19.99 digitally for everyone else.

So what the hell is going on with that pricing? They are saying it's discounted from 59.99, but there's no way this is a full price game right?
Also the release dates are all messed up, this is a launch game isn't it?

Is a full price game indeed... and I also think that was said in an interview that was a launch game

I've got it on my maybe list. It depends on how many other games support it in the future. Farpoint looks interesting enough, but if that's the only game that will use it, that's not enough for me, unless the peripheral goes on sale.

I'm locking in the $16 price. At $16, I'll try almost anything.

Oh, then yeah I agree. To be honest though, it really does feel like one long demo considering how insanely repetitive it is.

Certainly possible, I haven't really seen them talk a lot outside of the demo mission on E3 videos so we'll have to see how much more they add. Though some people always seem to love the take off graphics, and being in space with the other ships and dog-fighting out there. But it's certainly possible if there's not much more to it that it'll potentially be light and repetitive.

I also thought you would need to have your headphones plugged into the device for the 3D audio to work. If you hook them up via Bluetooth aren't they just completely by passing the breakout box?

Yup, that's right, Shu said you need to connect headphones with the standard cable not bluetooth since the breakout box is outputting the 3D audio.

Is it wrong to feel sorry for people that are excited for this?

Are there men in it?

Eh, it seems like a perfect demo for VR, many impressions say it's one of the best at tricking your brain into VR.

I believe Harada has mentioned a few times that they would like to add a male character as well.

Also on the maybe list. It looks really cool but I hope other games use it as well *cough* Time Crisis VR plz *cough*.

Time Crisis VR would be amazing! That's what I thought of when watching the Rush of Blood video on youtube.
I may get the gun controller as well since I'll probably get Farpoint and I wouldn't be surprised if they have a bundle option. Hopefully a few more games get confirmed as being able to use it before then too.

I was already expecting them, to be honest. We have had hour-long extended plays of games way before the 2-week barrier before; I watched the entire gears prologue a couple of days ago, for example.

The issue is you know what you're geting with a gears game by now; you could issue a statement saying "it's the same length, style and content as Gears 2" and that'd do the job. Almost all these games are new IPs, some of them are very short experiences-Sony really needs to explain these games to people, in detail, if they want us to preorder.

At this point people are preordering on faith and a few short vids.

There is going to be one. $79.99

I get what you're saying, but this is a new platform, you didn't have hour long extended videos of Millions, or Knack or other PS4 launch titles.

The reality is that there also isn't anything like the scale of Gears in the launch window. We're talking uncharted waters here, so if you're looking for a traditional AAA experience, for the most part it might be best to wait it out and see how the platform does.

I think the majority of the folks here understand that this period is somewhat analogous to the early 3D era. Games are smaller, more experimental, not always amazing, but hopefully these experiences are new, unique and interesting. I don't think most informed VR early adopters are expecting publishers to sink the $60M+ required for a AAA game into VR at this early stage.

It's not the same thing as just a normal game release, there is new hardware involved.
For comparison the reviews for PS4 hardware and games went live November 13th and the console released on November 15th in the US. The Xbox one stuff had a similar time frame (19th for a 22nd release date).
So in both cases less than three days. I'm not sure why you would expect this to be different. It's still prior to release which is really all that matters.
Not to mention the fact that Sony has been demoing the thing pretty much everywhere in the US for months now as well as at press events world wide and those impressions are well documented.
What are you expecting to hear from reviews that we don't already know?
