Giant Bomb PSVR stream | It's always Summer in PlayStation VR Nation

What's funny is that they played fuck tons of hours of VIVE and Oculus so...

That's the only time I've seen them come off as "jaded" if you wanna use that word, them saying how nobody wants to hear VR talk and shit on the bombcast. Like it isn't even out for most people yet!

But they have without a doubt a lot of hours logged in VR, so I definitely trust their views on PSVR. Hoping to see impressions improve, I want an excuse to buy one haha

Looks like a mess. Asking far too much from consumers, continuous calibration, stationary experience, height settings, odd inconsistencies, motion sickness. Kind of annoyed at people lying about issues about sickness, it's clearly there, ubplayable for people that are sensitive to it (but not seriously sensitive). Look like a broken niche experience that isn't accessible. Honestly, looks like shit to me.

Careful Dan, about to overstep the limit on corporate criticism.

THE MICROSOFT MONEY TOO GOOD BREHS

It's kind of shitty to say, but I can't really trust GB when it comes to PlayStation.

They're always running ads for Xbox games on their site/channel and they're always seemingly sarcastic or unenthusiastic when about PlayStation stuff from what I've noticed.

From listening to their podcasts, it seems like they play games on the PS4 way way more than the Xbox One and don't hesitate to point out when the PS4 version performs/looks better.

Although I do have to say, Dan seems to be way more negative than the people actually using the headset. Jeff and Brad are saying it has some issues, and Dan is extrapolating that to infer that the thing sucks. Or at least that's what it looks like so far.

I mean I love Jeff but he has a real long history of having terrible taste in games. I don't think that carries over to "this hardware doesn't work very well" though.

Like with Driveclub watching him play even though I was massively enjoying the game already I came away with a negative outlook, then played the game and all of that disappeared. He has an attitude of a 90's grunge kid, always looking for the snarky joke, which ultimately makes things appear a bit shit when watching him. The difference between the Batman VR demo when he was playing it compared to the other person was night and day. Get another person who was a big batman fan and you would probably have an entirely different vibe. The motion tracking is a bit worrying though but didn't look anywhere near as bad when they switched units.

So Brad saying it was so broken when playing at home he didnt want to use it anymore is all good in your book?
I don't see what that has anything to do with what I said but yeah it is a concern. Something I'm guessing that would be exacerbated by light levels due to the solution chosen as it did when the move controllers released.

Fucking amazing. Was Kane and lynch a Sony exclusive?

You know, they've been called Sony fanboys for a while now, it's nice to hear they can deliver to all sides.

Sure is. Uninformed and clueless, too.

The Eurogamer review is definitely worth reading:

"there's a degree of jitter here that feels a little unnatural"

"there's a sweet spot in the region of 1.5m to 2m away from the camera, but tracking is lost much further beyond that."

The only thing that makes me weary about their views on the PSVR is how much in their mind are they comparing it to the vive experience while playing it resulting in a this is shit because vive works so much better.

I can't speak in terms of long term playing experience but every time i have played the PSVR i loved it. I always brush off Jeff's negativity but Dan and Austin saying it's not good makes me a bit worried but i am still buying it because like people have said some of this could be a software issue with the camera which could be fixed via firmware but if i don't like i will just send it back. I don't have anything against the GB duders i love them i trust Brad and Dan and Drew and Jason but you can't deny how negative and jaded Jeff gets towards things this comes up every day and he seems like the type of person who would subconsciously compare this to the vive the entire time.

The weird thing, is that people go for Microsoft fanboying and not PC when the latter is almost always considered superior on their podcasts and the former sometimes never even gets mentioned.

Do we know what PSVR officially recommends? Jeff said he's in that range.

The other thing I think people do is often take things out of context. They have a few issues, but it also seems to be working and they are not all negative. Just like the Vive/Oculus streams. There is good and bad. That is why it is such a tough decision for me on the pre-order. I'm insanely curious about getting it home and trying it out: my heart wants it really bad, but my head says forget it.

Sony need to update their manual I think

Giant Bomb tries to make everything I love look bad. It's sad because so many people follow them and let them decide their opinion for them. First Shenmue, now this. I played PSVR and had no issues.

It's very rare these days that game sites are useful for me, but this stream really was. I was feeling the "new gadget lure" of PSVR and this was a very clear demonstration that it is not worth it at this stage.

Much more valuable than all the text reviews in the review thread.

Hmmm watching but I missed previous games. I like Harmonix but this game wouldn't really interest me be regardless. Criticism seems harsh though, but I guess I haven't played it so perhaps warranted.

All their PSVR demos been like this?
