Well i have missed a lot. Has Jeff found one VR thing yet that can make him sick?

maybe...

I'm digging this Wayward Sky way more than I expected.

Funny... i was watching the Batman let's play on these streams from Giant Bomb and it was so different than what i saw on Kinda Funny. Kinda Funny called it a premier vr experience that worked pretty flawlessly. The Giant Bomb let's play made the PSVR experience look so bad and wonky.

Yeah, multiple views really helps to get a taste of all viewpoints, especially at launch like this.

It seems like when it's working right GB seems to like it overall, because there have been some decent runs where it seems like it's working right and they get into it for a while until it comes up again.

To the wrestling thread!

Just after it broke he was just sitting there for a solid 5 minutes straight looking at the laptop without talking, taking questions from the chat or looking up at the game.

But it probably speaks more to the quality of these games that, that was what I was noticing.

VR.... man....

Maybe in another 2 years it will be ready.

The most impressive of those are existing games that most people have played.

I mean a Wii Sports type of game, built from the ground up to prove the concept.

At the moment, VR games are either adaptions of existing games, or fairly unimpressive tech demos.

I was hopeful Sony would have put a bit more weight behind it but I guess the justification isn't there yet.

Bro you need to go back and take a look at the list again. plenty of content and more coming. Not sure what you want a COD in VR? Uncharted in VR?

Damn, they should have started way later if they were only doing 6 hours...I need some sleep.

Also, I hope this means we get another 6+ Hour livestream next week.

Jeff looks so bummed.

I'd still be on board (or at least still on the fence) with the software on offer, but man, these technical issues might be the thing to get me to ditch my preorder. Curious to see if Sony gets out there and says anything before next week.

Yes. All the games they played today are in the OP.

Thanks. Seems a thin list. Hope they'll do another long stream with launch games as they seem to have missed a ton due to the early stream?

But surprised nobody from Sony ran over there with a spare headset too

Your welcome. Some games are embargoed and others are releasing on launch day.

Well hopefully we'll get some answers about the tracking by the time they do the rest of the games.

I'm excited to see them play summer lesson

I know they've said they've had issues at home too, but I can't help but wonder if their studio lighting is having a negative effect. They are using lots of colored backwall lighting, and that blue behind brad is brighter than the move controllers.

We literally saw this on the stream that you are posting in the thread for.

I came in for general reaction to the PSVR and to be honest it is a bit of a spoiler. I want to know if I have wasted my money or not. I didn't expect it would mention a major plot point. It's okay, it's my fault for caving in to early reviews.

Jeff had the most problems and he's on a green screen.

so ALL these people on GAF and other forums who have tried it at BestBuy, not have the same issues...... and all the sudden because Jeff says that it doesn't work.

I'm sorry, but I'd trust the majority of the audience. Heck I'd trust myself after I've it on a few occasions.

I'm curious to see if the majority of the owners who buy it, say it works fine........ well then would Jeff be called out?

Jeff is basically saying it is unplayable... that it's a hardware issue. Then EVERY OWNER WHO GETS ONE will most likely complain...and there should be a class action suit coming.... Right?

I doubt it... and many will just move on forget the hyper-hole Jeff just said today.

I think for me ultimately looking at their impressions as well as Digital Foundry, etc., I can't take the risk of spending that much and dealing with nausea and motion sickness that will make it difficult to use over time. The games I would be most interested in playing like Battlezone and Rigs seem most susceptible to it and from my perspective I think I have to wait and see how the general public reacts to that stuff before I jump in.

Bruh, they showed multiple times how it just didn't work. Kotaku says the same. Austin from VICE says the same. It's not just Jeff. And NO, nobody cares if you listen to Jeff or not. Just buy the thing and hope that it works. For more than enough people it seems to be working just fine. There's no need for you to use this tone. On what should he be called out exactly anyway? Was it his fault both of their units didn't work properly or what?

Relax.

What is the context of the boat test? Trying to hold it still?

In my experience the move lost tracking on PS3. Not as bad as Wii Motion Plus, but had to recalibrate in House of the Dead 4 and Dead Space rail shooter.

Yup. They keep holding the controllers/move controllers still but it still keeps moving forwards and backwards. At times, it would do so erratically.

EDIT: People also need to keep in mind that Jeff was using the new PS4 camera and Brad was using the old PS4 camera. Still didn't make a difference. They did all sorts of adjustments but it just wasn't working. Not to mention, they're having the same problems at home.

Just spent six hours watching and playing PSVR games. I don't think any VR headset is worth buying right now, but PSVR seems like the worst.

Called out for what? He's relaying his experience, and you can see that it's a bad experience right there in the stream. He's not saying every single PSVR is a piece of shit, now, always, and forever. He's saying he had a bad experience, and he did. Nothing to be called out for.

Why do people get soo defensive over some product a corporation is trying to sell them?

The tracking seems like a serious issue. Worse than I thought it would be. Hopefully it is a software issue or at worst, poor lighting conditions that can at least be optimized to minimize issues.

Sounds about right. There are no hyper compelling titles that scream a demand to have a VR headset for. Psvr even less so.

From my personal experience using my Move controller (not with VR), the tracking seems mostly accurate but you do get the occasional required recalibration. It seems like the PS knows exactly where the orb is most of the time, but is not 100% accurate on the positioning of the rest of the unit. That would tie in with their complaints about the controller not pointing in the direction they expected it to.

Overall, I think I need to experience the PS Move in a more controlled environment. They mentioned that they've tried it at their own homes and have experienced similar jank so maybe it isn't just the studio lights fucking up the tracking. I don't know, after the stream I think I'm just getting unsold on PS VR. And PSVR was the one headset I had faith in; looks like I might just be waiting until the next iteration of VR.

The worst hardware (no surprise at 400) with hopefully the best lineup down the line.

It makes me wonder how they're pushing a $400 peripheral to work in line with move controllers and a camera from 2010, which have gone mostly neglected until now. How long will the Psvr be supported before it gets neglected also?

sony probably shouldn't have used unaltered six year old tech for their new VR platform is what I'm getting from this.

They also used it for hours compared to short experiences with few motion controlled experiences in controlled environments.

Brace yourself because their impression will likely be more of a common anecdote at launch.

People have different experiences. The reason threads and discussions regarding reviews or impressions go to shit so often here is because some people just need one single perspective to be definitive. Jeff's gripes with VR are completely legitimate, but it may also not represent your experience or someone else's who may have a more favorable review. Both things CAN exist. And the beauty of it being 2016 is that there is no shortage of avenues to find different opinions that can help you form yours, or can help you decide if you want to try something or not. Otherwise, what you are really looking for is just confirmation bias.
