Well, I only purchased from geekbuying because the indiegogo was closed and hadnt yet re-opened. Now I am glad I did. Also, it looks as though geekbuying only had 176 preorders. I'm feeling good about that 8750
...not that it matters.

I certainly hope you get an 8750, at the very least with a bunch of tests we'd be able to determine what the benefit is.

Kind of puzzled that GPD said they were going to send to resellers last but now all resellers are saying they are getting it Mid-October.

Well it certainly would be par for the course with GPD. Indiegogo backers, first to buy, last to receive.

Sucks for you, I seen on Dingoonity you were the 10th backer :/
I kinda feel like GPD didn't managed well with West. Heck, we didn't even got review units.

Instead some chinese reviewers got their unit, post 1 potato footage video or one photo and just disappeared.

I mean

I get that the logistics of delivering globally are more complicated so im not sour if locals get it before i do i guess

I just would like to get it sent out in a timely fashion

JD.com backers are the only ones getting 8750. So we lost about 6.5% CPU perf.

Edit: Actually that's not fair to GPD, I paid for an 8500 and I'm getting the 8700. Still kinda suckeroo that JD.com backers paid in August and got the best unit and paid least, haha.

I mean personally I donated to the Project when it had the 8750 and the fan and heatsink so I am alittle annoyed about not receiving one.

What I get salty about is IGG backers paid first and are getting the short end of the stick.

Having said that, yea, it always said October. However, the main reason that JD.com backers were supposed to get theirs first was so they could sort out any issues that would happen. Except because of the last minute changes they delivered slightly late to JD.com backers.

Now the issue is that Resellers are being told they are receiving product mid-October.

So I mean, how does that work? They only *just* finished shipping to JD.com. They have to wait to hear feedback from all of the JD.com backers before they could even establish a plan for fixes.

The entirety of next week GPD isn't working, unless they plan on plotting out fixes during their holiday (not likely), but still if changes needed to be made wouldn't there need to be a change *somewhere* in their build process? Maybe a tweak somewhere or source a different part from somewhere?

From all outward appearances, they are going full blast into production for starting Oct 10th.

Logistically, they aren't doing *any* fixes and instead just shipped to JD.com because they were forced to. And since they did the GPD XD on jd.com previously, they were well aware that they'd be taking money from IGG people to fund the entire thing even though they knew we wouldn't be getting it first.

No other way to put it other than, that's pretty shitty. Also if you consider that they gave all of the 8750s to JD.com backers.

I'll just continue to wait. It's not like there is any competing product on the market and design wise I really like what they did.

Yeah, they just seem to ignore all communication from reviewers now.
 
This thing looks so awesome and I wish I could afford it right now, but in all the videos I'm watching the controls look so rigid. Hoping it's just cause they are trying to take a video while playing or something.

The analog sticks are made by ALPS and they are pretty decent quality. Button wise, we haven't heard of the membrane material used but supposedly it's been improved since the GPD XD where some people gutted some Wiimotes to put those membranes in.

Shoulder buttons are nicely designed though (internally speaking).
 
Holding out hope that GPD will update backers finally in the next few weeks.

Getting increasingly thirsty for the ultimate VN, JRPG and emulation machine.

Well, that's GPD loss. They're missing on what's basically free marketing from enthusiast all because they focused on domestic market. Even when you dig on youku or baidu, there's not many footagew and most of them are potato footage.

Yup, that was funny too. Sending review units to some people posting 1 potato picture of it and just disappeared. Of course, some did the job by posting footage but even then... It was kinda limited in term of informations.

Two weeks is a bit optimistic IMO. I wouldn't be surprised if they shipped within the next 2-3 weeks, so maybe 3-4 weeks on delivery. I'm expecting early November, anything earlier than that is awesome.

Haha, you could have got an email like mine that said, "Okay because you backed early on IGG and you're a reviewer, we'll get one to you quickly"

I will give GPD credit when it's due. They build machines very quickly. Shipping time will probably take the longest.

Also, it's probably worth noting that this isn't official in any way. For all we know right now, someone on the Chinese forum just threw random specs on the picture (speculation? hopes? Who knows).
 
Oooo yea! Someone got a 8750. (not me) But at least we can make some requests for certain tests now.
 
Would this be capable of playing some 2D indies from Steam? In my experience, those games aren't always the most friendly to weak CPUs

The benches will be useful insofar that many people said the 7% difference on CPU wouldn't matter.

Now we'll have objective evidence.

Regardless, we're all getting the 8700 but it's good to know anyhow.

Update on geekbuying pre-orders. Just took a look at the site and it seems as though the shipping timer is just a place holder because it has now reset and is back at 11 days and 3ish hours.

They already updated on the IndieGoGo page in the comments that everyone is getting 8700.

They should probably comment on why Resellers got devices ahead of IGG backers.
