lol looks like Mario is just checking us up in the shower. A bit creepy.

Hope they show real stuff, not just a "Pokemon GO Style Trailer".

Curious as hell!

I know spec speculation isn't confirmed, but this is going to release 3+ years after the xbox one and in terms of power its going to be worse?

Come on, at the very least make it equivalent.

Yes I know wii u was released 6 years after.. but the tech has developed faster no? Not like xbone was a powerhouse when it released

Yes! Desperate for Nintendo to bring handheld gaming to glory. And yeah Vita is my favourite platform this gen, despite its obvious shortcomings. If Nintendo can nail this they'll bring handheld gaming back from the brink of destruction.

I'm right there with you. I don't want to live in a world without handhelds.

Disagree (to the central point at least).

There are plenty of people who are interested, but not committed. There's a reason places list prices like "199.99 instead of 200.00". The perception of something being much more affordable is relevant.

You will sell to a lot of people who are simply like "why not?" at lower entry prices than you will at higher prices. Obviously, you need to establish SOME value.

It depends if Nintendo is competing in a Costco bubble. Are they trying to produce cheap hardware for non-enthusiasts? But what's the sustainability of that market in 2016. The enthusiast market has paid off well for Sony and Apple at their high prices, but they are also generally delivering products that their consumer base is approving.

Is Nintendo's problem price (the system isn't anywhere as expensive as others) or value? I think value.

You're gonna have a good time then. Consolidating all of that Japanese portable market onto one system, Nintendo's output included, means theres gonna be a fair chunk of stuff.

Capcom no longer having an excuse for PS2 visuals Monster Hunter is the real win of this thing existing.

I'm sad Sony doesn't make stuff like Patapon and Loco Roco no mores and now probably never will :(

People come to Nintendo for exclusives. Give up the idea that they'll compete on a third party basis. It's a lost cause. They know the hardware and always make it sing, at least.

I'm fine with it being barely better. The main thing for me is that it will be portable, so I can play more of it since I commute a lot by train and bus.

NX is definitely the system for me. Assuming those details are true about the portable mode.

I want off the hype train but

2.59 min talk. 0.1s showing the machine.

This is guaranteed. Every second spent on the introductory speech or a Nintendo history montage will have people screaming bloody murder.

I expect this to be nothing more than a formal announcement of the date for the full reveal while lifting up the veil ever so slightly with a second-long shot of a black silhouet or LED lighting up or something like that.

I predict it all being just one story:
- A guy turns on the console on his TV and it runs the new Mario, plays it a bit with the fancy new controller.
- Then he get's a message or something and decides to meet his friend.
- Picks up the controller/console from the tv attachment and the game continues seamlessly as he walks out and is on the bus.
- Then he joins his friend who also has one, and they start playing together, the other guy plays as Luigi.
- Cut to name of console, and date for when we'll hear more about it.
Totally agree with you, but i would love if he came back home and played metroid prime 4

It's handheld, obviously the home console part is going to be ass.

You'll get a name, introduction of the concept and probably some Zelda and Mario footage

This is just the start of their NX rollout, some of y'all expecting key details from a 3min video that already has the task to make sure everybody and their grandmothers understand that this won't be a Wii U peripheral

Yeah, man. You will make the difference. Thank you.

I just hope it has tons of games - Nintendo or third party

Heh, I didn't mean I'm super special for Nintendo's plans or anything ;)

But rather that there's excitment about this new platform that's contagious, even to someone who hasn't cared about the brand or their game sin a very long time.

That'd be fine as a concept piece, and deliver a pretty unmistakable message, but would that really generate much excitement? While I feel that would clearly explain the platform's premise, I don't think it spells out what advantage a hybrid has for the consumer, and thought it may seem blatant to us, I especially don't think that implication can just be left to the audience. They literally ought to say "For the first time ever, play full Zelda (or better yet, Pokemon) on the go, and then on your TV", as well as touting/emphasising a few system' strengths, e.g. free online

Can you play your x bone on the bus?

The industry is fine?

Not to derail the thread, but this isn't that obvious to me.
If you include mobile gaming, then yes, the industry as a whole is more than fine. I suspect you're more concerned with traditional (home) console gaming and then, there is reason for concern. People pointing at the indeed great hardware sales miss that e.g. in the UK software sales are definitely crumbling as a whole, not fully recovering the level of sales realized during last-gen.
Also, remember the stories about AAA development being just not worth it for many developers?
Take the recent Deus Ex for example: Didn't it sound an awful lot like sales were not meeting expectations at all? Not being interested in the game (series) per se at all, I'll keep an eye on the rumored development of the successor that's supposed to come out current gen.

It will be enough.

If Nintendo's base is casuals, children and an interested-but-not-enthusiastic base of core gamers, I think you need to come in much cheaper than any competition.

You're far more likely to get some fence sitters to buy the thing for games like Zelda or Smash or Mario Kart if the thing is 200 dollars instead of 300 dollars.

I'm expecting 3 hours worth of information compressed into 3 minutes through the use of multiple windows streamed simultaneously.

Yeah, man. I was just kidding :p
You're right - there's more hype for the NX than I remember there ever was for the Wii U
