This is legit. I love the base tablet design, which is pretty elegant. Waaaay better than the goofy Wii U tablet. I can't fucking wait! Dumping my Wii U as our main media center as soon as I can get this thing!

Big questions I need to know is how good is the portable screen (durability and overall quality-wise), and what will the resolution be on both the portable and home screens.

I was keeping my expectations for this low. I'm so glad I did because now I'm super excited for it! Just waiting on Amazon to open preorders.

Honestly floored by this.

It's actually a sexy piece of kit. Nintendo actually made a piece of hardware that looks visually appealing.

And it is powerful enough to run Skyrim without the dock.

And it has a pro controller for when it's docked.

And it will have Pokémon, Zelda, Mario, Mario Kart and Smash all on the same system.

I wasn't a huge fan of the Wii U but this will actually be a day one buy. Well done Nintendo.

PLEASE NINTENDO!

Shit... I want one even more now!!

I'm not seeing anyone talking about how seamless the "switching" is.
I thought that was pretty impressive.

He just grabs the tablet from the dock and, bam, done. Keep playing.
Doesn't miss a beat.

So I don't follow Nintendo much, but will this be replacing the Wii-U and 3DS going forward? and will it have any sort of backward compatibility with them?

Also the screen doesn't seem like it's touch screen yah?

Anyway I'm thinking of getting the 3DS for pokemon, but if this can play it and if the price is good then I'll hold for the Switch :P

Nintendo Switch -OT- Nvidia Tegra's Revenge

Nvidia lost out on the 3DS contract, but now is in Switch.

So, Tegra X1 (Maxwell) or Tegra Parker (Pascal) do we know ??

So what makes this better than a High End Tablet? Other than Nintendo Support?

The fact no major game companies have their AAA titles on any high end tablets? And skimming over "Nintendo support" as if it wasn't a HUGE deal is naive -- the combined handheld AND home catalogs are now coming to a single platform. Combined, the 3DS+WiiU first/second party libraries are INSANE, especially when you add in all the announced third party support.

We don't even fucking know if the docking port adds extra power for home use, which would also be a huge plus.

That really exceeded my expectations and the trailer itself was pretty different for Nintendo, this really is a hard reboot.

I need this thing though, portable anything and local multiplayer sounds amazing.

Despite showing it off in the trailer I feel like the detachable controllers are more for children than adults. And for kids those will be absolutely amazing.

Hardware design is slick. I'm really surprised by that. Nintendo has never made a device that looked so, I dunno, maybe "current" is the word. It doesn't look like a toy, yet still looks like something kids would want. It also doesn't look like something a grown adult would be ashamed to be seen with.

This thing has a lot of appeal. I can see why developers were excited. Definitely a gigantic step up from the Wii U on first impression.

So as I though, just a single Tegra with no additional rendering power given by the dock. Detachable mini controllers looks painful to use by themselves, but that grip is a nice idea.

This will be a nice 720p machine. Don't expect miracles with it.

Skyrim, NBA, new mario game, splatoon vs vs all in hd :)

But not Full HD. ;)

The handheld is sexy as fuck. Such a huge departure from the 3DS/Wii U era too, think about it

No IR remote
No touchscreen (from what is shown)
No Dual screen
No Gyro (from what is shown)

Just a pure hardcore gaming handheld ala Vita but much more powerful.

Can you believe it?

I think that screen will be touch screen. Ppl bringing up tablet make me think it will handle mobile games like a smartphone or tablet.

No more dual screens. IMO this is a good thing. Time to step into the current era.

If it can function as a tablet for mobile games, apps it will have 3 functions. I might agree with those saying this is a game changer.

Looks really cool, better than I expected.

At the same time, battery will be its biggest issue. Also that d-pad looks just awful as four separate buttons but I imagine it was done so they can use it as a separate controller like they did in the trailer, still looks awful though.

I like it. The list of publishers is promising and 3D Mario looked sweet. I won't get it at launch, but Holiday 2017 is most likely when I'll jump in. Wonder how it compares to Wii U in power.

Looks great, a little worried about the potential for screen scratches by sliding it into the port like that though, hopefully there's proper clearance to help prevent that.

I think one extremely genius part of the dock is the fact that it simply covers the screen. I don't know why no one thought about that. It's so elegant!

It'd honestly be more energy efficient to shut the screen off when docked (and I hope that's the case), but covering it is a nice aesthetic.

But again, there needs to be a way to connect it to the dock wirelessly. I'm hoping they avoided it in this trailer for now simply to remove it from the wii u.

This is entirely unappealing to me. In just about every way it seems practically useless if you aren't in it just for the Nintendo games.

Okay, so what were you expecting? Consoles have always been confined to the home, yet this one gives you the option to take it to go. How is that a bad thing?

New Mario looked really pretty but damn if some of those controllers don't look incredibly uncomfortable.

The portable aspect is really cool functionality wise but it's really being oversold imo and it just means once again the console will be underpowered and will fail to get proper 3rd party support.

Nintendo never does well going for power. It makes no sense for them to offer something similar to Sony and Microsoft, they have to be different. Those who want power will have other options.

If they really are combining their handheld and home console divisions, then this will sell no matter what. It will literally just take one mainline Pokemon game and its done.

I do not know how I should feel about it. On the one hand it is great that Nintendo finally concentrates on games, pure games. However I do not see the advantages of this detachable thing. I mean basically this console got promoted like a smartphone. What puts it beyond that. There is already I controller for iOS devices which make your tablet look quite abit like the portable thing Nintendo has:

HJEM2

However I guess time will tell. Right now I am not very impressed. Too many old games in that trailer so I am curious how third party devs will handle this plattform. I mean if they sell it for under 200€ I guess I am in. But yeah, unlikely.

Man, that's some crazy looking peripheral but if it sync via bluetooth and works... (It at least looks full scale).

The switch seems to be at the minimum for a core gamer = switch + a proper controller. Wonder how much it's gonna cost

Joycon? lol

Wonder if I'll bother detaching it as much. Don't want dust and dirt get in between the slots and mess up the connections down the line :x

So is it safe to say that home console and handheld is now one brand for Nintendo? Has to be right? But it's kind of like carrying a tablet around, which I guess isn't a problem. People don't put their gaming systems in their pockets now either (I'm talking Vita, 3DS).

Better than I expected. The dock is a little ugly but the screen and controller looks nice and most importantly, it looks like we get a traditional controller for home use. As long as the system is close to the XB1 in power, I think it's a win.

Sort of meh for me. Some interesting points but really wanted to see new games. Skyrim again? Splatoon and Mario don't seen like real sequels... And the non pro controller does not look too good.
And the price had best be low as I don't see even ps4 level graphics.

Would've won everything had the main deck outputted PScorpro4 graphics, that not being the case they alienated themselves out the race and the support won't last, like it happened the two past gen. Outdoor gaming on a dedicated machine is not something meant for the west, absolutely not one single soul plays with their portable unit in the way the'vethey will probably take back the east home market but that's it.
