Bloody hell! Of course! This cold is making me stupid. Cheers.

Edit: Does anyone else feel a bit overly naughty when you have Marcus steal vehicles? He just doesn't come across as a car thief to me. I tend to find myself just walking everywhere to stay in the character I think he is. Or find a a bicycle maybe.

There are car dealerships, you then get an app on your phone to request delivery when and wherever you want.

It's for the greater good!

But I only "borrow" cars that are parked, I never jank people out of their car.

How do you get a silencer for the gun?

Dude again 3D print a gun with a silencer on it in the HQ. You keep asking when I've already answered you. No there is no way to equip a silencer on a gun that doesn't have one. There are no gun shops so the weapons you see in the printer menu are all that you get. No customization beyond choosing the skin.

Holy shit the dialogue in the Nudle mission. Can't help but feel like the story of the only black guy in a tech company was written by someone at Ubisoft with intimate experience being the only black guy on the writing team.

Shit, sounds like some Mafia 3 level shit

So my fiancée tried playing some co op with me, even though she never played any stealth games or Ubisoft games much. It was pretty insane how poorly we did lol.
https://youtu.be/nL9aUo_L_nE
However, the co op in this game is so much better. Side quests are still there, dynamic open world events still happen and the co op missions just lend themselves to a lot of fun and creativity. Also, 5 star Cops haven't been this relentless since GTA 3 it feels.

I had fun watching this for the first ten minutes(I just don't have time today for the rest). Thanks!

It's pretty bad. I couldn't help. It burst out laughing when someone said they really nailed the first time the main character meets the black dude in the crew. Like how about no.
Hey, that was me! I did the exact thing just last weekend interviewing candidates but maybe that was just my black experience

It's actually funny how terrible the driving in this game is. I've noticed I'm avoiding using vehicles as much as possible.
I knew they'd ruin it after so many people complained about the (absolutely fine) driving in WD1.

Did a few hours of roaming yesterday just poking and prodding at the game. Only missions I've done so far are the stuff they force you to at the beginning. Random thoughts:

- The world looks really good. You can definitely feel the evolution of Ubi's world design from W_D1 --> AC:U --> W_D2 in terms of scale and lighting. The landmarks in this game feel appropriately huge and the sightlines are beautiful. They've gotten a lot better at making the world look lived in and dirty as well. Tons of detail.

- I don't like the new on foot camera angle/FOV. The first game had a much tighter camera position which made those walks through public hotspots more grounded and atmospheric. This camera is pulled out and it makes me feel detached from the civilians in a way i wasn't before, and makes Marcus look like a kid at times. This is definitely one of the reasons it resembles GTAV so much at a glance, aside from the color scheme.

- Coming right off of Mafia 3, I just can't get a feel for driving yet. It's actually more twitchy than I was expecting. You can completely cut off slides with the throttle in such a strange way, and swing the car left to right so abruptly. Need a few more hours.

- The systemic cop/criminal/witness/ambulance system is a lot of fun. In just a few hours of free roaming I've been in the middle of a few completely ridiculous chains of AI conflict that I didn't even come close to initiating. The fact that pedestrians can actually call the cops on other people is really cool. I've seen what I'm pretty sure was a car thief get arrested while a crowd gathered and called him an idiot, I've seen a gang vs. police war pop off where both sides called in reinforcements and started chucking grenades, and the police even saved me from a gang after I wandered onto their turf by accident. I love this stuff.

- Traffic flow/spawning feels off. There are too many streets that have strange dead moments of 1 to 3 cars at a light, even just a block or two away from the deep downtown streets. The traffic light hack isn't even reliable anymore because of this. Not enough congestion, car horns, etc. Too clean, too staggered.

- Likewise, pedestrians feel spread a little more thin than the first game. There are still hotspots with lots of activity, but walking around doesn't lead to as much shoulder to shoulder visuals. Not sure if this is actually a reduction/change in pedestrian flow, or because the San Francisco environment is wider, but the whole vibe, including the vehicles, is a little less organic.

- Pedestrian reactions while you're driving are WAY too sensitive. People are screaming and jumping out of the way on the sidewalk when I'm speeding on the street like wut?

- On the other hand, all these little pedestrian animations, interactions, and spawn locations are, like the first game, very strong. Seeing people sneeze, trip, pick up drinks, forget things, check their pockets, cough, touch each other, etc. adds a lot to the city simulation. Ubisoft's become very good with these scripted actions, and in combination with the larger scale dynamic reactions, the game can feel much, much more lively than the first even with the weird traffic/ped density issues. Love to talk to/taunt them and see what happens and who jumps into the conversation/fight. Or the clowns who photobomb you. And all the different languages. And the dogs. AND DAH PUPPIES :D

- Bicycles missing is very noticeable.

- The sound mix is odd, even with the custom Gold preset. Footsteps feel buried, player car engine volume is all over the map, AI car engines are not loud enough, music can be overpowering, the female police voice telling you to stop is EXTREMELY loud. Needs some more fine tuning imo.

So uhhhhhhh, these impressions skew negative, but like I said I'm super early and in most ways this is a step up from the first, including many I didn't mention (customization, voice acting, performances, licensed soundtrack, THIS AMAZING ORIGINAL SCORE). These are just my nitpicky first impressions.

Started actually doing story missions this morning, greatly enjoy the overall tone of this way more than the first game. The characters themselves are fun and while certainly cringe worthy at times, it's 'fun' cringy, if that makes any sense haha.

Driving is meh. I'm all for arcade racer-like controls, but this feels over the top.

I greatly enjoy the stealth (and the variety of ways you can complete any objective) but I really wish if a guard spotted you, you could quickly take them out without everyone suddenly being alerted. I rushed a guard and melee'd him and the whole place suddenly knew I was there.

I love that the world has stuff happening even without the player being there. I've shown up to an area looking for money or research points and it's clear there was an accident there or pedestrians getting into shoving matches resulting in a full blown brawl, etc.

I hope there are more peds/traffic in the PC version. That could be a game changer.

You guys are killing me with these expectations..

Yep. I'm absolutely dying for the PC version, have it preordered but the two week wait is painful.

At least I have Dishonored 2 to keep me company - which also seems fantastic with some brilliant AI and emergent situations.

We're so lucky these days. I couldn't even fathom this level of stuff 10-15 years ago.

Put about 6 hours in last night, hardly touched the main story. Last main story quest i did was
taking that Knightrider-esq car back to Deadsec
. Otherwise, i've been sightseeing, taking random pictures and doing a few side-quests. Did unlock a nice ability
in calling a fake APB, works wonders in gang hideouts. It's great when doing it on a random pedestrian
.

And i have myself a drone, easiest way of getting one is to aim for gang hideouts and get the money bags. Pawn anything you steal and target people for money. That's about it really. Driving missions are fun.

I had no idea the hopper could be used for physical hacks. There goes my non-lethal playthrough...

Ah well. Gives me incentive to replay down the line when all of the DLC is out.

I do wish the gang system was more fleshed out. The Kotaku article said he felt like it was the remnants of something bigger that they had intended, and I agree. Rep system with playing the gangs against each other would have been great.

I was up in Oakland, sneaking into a Tezca area when I got spotted and shotswere fired at me - that called in the police, which resulted in a solid half-hour of rolling gang wars and police shootouts - of which I was involved in none! Just kept getting the little notifications pop up.

Okay, the villain revealed himself and I gotta say that whole bit was really well done. Still think he looks like a random NPC with that design, but the cutscene had excellent dialogue and a nice conclusion. Marcus got played, didn't see that one coming.

The sequence right after that with the
Burning Man
Festival spoof was great. So far the game balances perfectly between satire and real-world problems. And even though it pains me to admit the way
T-Bone
is introduced was actually pretty okay.

Someone posted it above it but Jesus Christ the female police voice telling you to pull over is excessively loud to the point where I got actually pretty annoyed, which doesn't really happen much while playing games these days.
They need to tune that stuff down because it's really annoying, and not in a good way (i.e. the police is following you so escape! sort of thing).

This is my main complaint as well. The fact that it's always the same actor saying the exact same thing over and over and over, and add to that it's mixed 4 times louder than anything else drives me crazy.

Super annoying.

I'm thinking I will warm to the game as I play more, but for me it didn't make a great first impression. Only played about an hour and a half last night but just not impressed with any of it so far.

It gets better later once you find your groove.
When play the cyber driver mission I wondered to myself if I was really enjoying the game or just going through the motions and forcing myself to enjoy it because I bought it.

Had zero doubts that the game was great later on when i started to pick up more skills and hang out with Dedsec even more. The story is pretty light hearted, one specific instance aside (so far) and its been a blast all around.

So I played maybe 2 hours of the original Watch Dogs a couple months ago - I liked it but wasn't really drawn to it at the time. Any point/reason to play it before this one or just move on?

This is yet another game that I feel is harmed by an XP/Skill Tree system. Not being able to use your Quadcopter, Jumper and decent weapons early in the game makes for a really bad first impression. Once you get all that stuff the game's a whole lot of fun, but it's locked away behind upgrade points and money.

Don't bother. I never played the original, all I know story wise is about Tbone because I watched a playthrough of his DLC because I heard he was going to be in 2, so far he only makes an insignificant reference to the events of that DLC and a character within it like once and
you can rescue Aiden Pierce in a sidequest, but you don't meet him or talk to him
. There doesn't seem to be any other connections to the first game though.

This always bothered me in the first game and back in this one... I park a bike no where near the curb and everyone dives for cover and curse me out...

Just move on. There really aren't any story ties and this one has a bunch of QoL improvements that will make the first game hard to go back to.

I liked the original to an extent. It was boring at times and the game was a bit empty and lacked a soul. This one is interesting me. I like the idea of using stealth entirely but I don't know. I feel like your impressions are driving me towards it though.

I had more adrenaline being chased in the tutorial than in my whole memory of the first one. I really like the fact that took every criticism seriously, and make it less "shooter-ish" is also a bold move but it´s work greatly. I like the parkour addition, it's go so much better with the setting.

And the OST is very nice, DJ Quick bring me back to my teenage years.

I kind of miss towers/unlocking points. Weird being thrown into an open world game and you can just fast travel anywhere from the start. I rarely even need to drive.

I'm having trouble finding a good outfit aside from the starter outfit (which I think is really cool). I wish I could get Aiden's ICONIC jacket again, that thing was actually really cool.

Wait, I just saw someone say that the melee attacks are lethal. Is that right? I never really paid attention, I just assumed those guards got concussed or lightly choked out!

I've been playing non-lethally (or so I thought) but that's a bummer if so. ALTHOUGH I've already given myself a mulligan as I put a proximity hack on a non-lethal stun while casing out a gang hideout and while I was on the other side of the building it tripped which blew something up. When I got back 3 guys were dead, but I told myself it was unrelated. ;)

It seems like if you hit someone in face with the ball they get knocked out, but if you do a choke animation they're gone. Man, Marcus must have a strong grip to choke someone out so hard they die within seconds.
