Pokémon Sun & Moon |OT| Ultra Beasts and where to find them

Scan once a day to make a pokemon show up in your dex, every 10 scans spawns a rare mon like chikorita or totodile.

You can do a QR scan every 2 hours. It's the island Scan requiring 10 of those that's effectively once a day since that's 20 hours of scan charges.

Where is everyone catching Pichu? Pokedex shows they are in the first city, but I haven't found anything. Does time of day matter? Maybe I'll try Route 1.

Route 1. on the patch of grass on the far left. Just got to catch one after the first one I encountered fainted.

Picking this up today. Briefly played Black/White and X/Y but never ended up getting into them. With some of the new changes, and a lot of coworkers who play it, hopefully it works out this time.

God damn it why is Team Skull so hilarious.

That first bit where they walk towards you, talking mad shit, and then the music just goes back and you ignore them and continue your conversation got me so hard.

Kiawe's trial was great. The dances made me laugh, and the totem fight actually beat three of my five pokemon (And one was out before the fight even started, so I was down to Dartrix). Granted I probably could've cheesed it with Araquanid's z-move, but it was still fun.

The thing I hate the most right now is that it gives you so many meaningless dialog options. Responses are always the same and apply to both answers. It is irritating.
Some dialogue options certainly have different text based on what you picked but the conversation usually goes back. The school early on is a good example of different text:
Attention, all students... Would [VAR TRNAME(0000)] please come to the office on 2F? [VAR TRNAME(0000)] to the 2F office, please.
What terrible thing did you do to get called to the office so soon?[VAR 0114(0006)]
Nothing!
Well...
That’s what you say...[VAR 0114(0006)]
So you did do something?![VAR 0114(0006)]

Where do I find QR codes to scan?
+
What's the point to these QR Codes?
Just so you know you can use practically any QR code to build points for the island scan.

So, I reached the third island, excited to finally get my hands on dat Alolan Vulpix, just to discover that it's a Sun exclusive :').

Anyone wants to trade it for a Sandshrew? Would be thankful. More thankful if it's a female named Shiva :p.

Mine still hasnt come in yet :(

Infact havent shipped yet either T_T

I pre-ordered back on October 29th and it was suppose to ship yesterday but now "Shipping soon" on Amazon D:

Ya'll lucky.

I'm really enjoying the story in this game. Like, it's nothing really special or anything, but it's there and it's fun. The stuff between the third and fourth island was great.

Really puts into perspective how bad XY was in that regard.

The Festival Plaza is neat, but I wish you could see what each stall does before switching them out---hopefully though Serebii finds out what each stall does soon, but it seems like a fun feature that'll be good in the post-game.

Gotta try out one of those missions too I hear about.

Only annoyances so far with the game is the cursor jumping from Battle to Run, instead of to Item like it was in Gen VI iirc, has messed me up a few times as I ran from a Pokemon I meant to catch. Also I like the added option of viewing a Pokemon's status before sending it to the box, but I also wish you could do that before nicknaming them.

Grubbin is refusing to be found :(

Though it's "Route 1", it's actually only in the last patch of grass at the end to the left of the sign as you make your way towards Iki Village. I had the same issue!

Grubbin's neat though, starting out with Vice Grip is nice---and I realize this is probably the first time anyone has used that move lol.

The QR code thing is awesome as a way to just make an otherwise unavailable pokemon available in your game once a day. I just caught a litwick I won't use, but I'm excited to see what else will show up in the future.

I'm confused at where the codes themselves originated. I see they were posted on Reddit the other day but how were they found and how were we players expected to have found them on our own? Seems like such a neat feature to have hidden behind some ARG stuff.

See, I was always annoyed with the fact down DIDN'T go to Run, so this was a huge QoL improvement for me lol.

And with us having a dedicated ball button I need to go to the bag far less than in the past.

There's no need to go into your bag when catching a pokemon. Hitting the Y button instantly takes you into a menu where you choose which ball to throw.

Got up to the trainer's school so far. 3ds battery died lol.

One gripe I have so far is the few seconds of black screen after finishing/running from a battle.

Early game distribution feels off to me

So far my only new Pokémon is Dartrix, on island two, the rest are just a hodgepodge of older Pokémon I have no intention of keeping around but do because nothing else interesting has shown up

I guess it'll all just fall in place once I get Zygarde and Cubone and visit some of the other islands

Wtf this bird is a cheerleader. There are so many Pokemon I wanna use and so little space.

I feel like there are enough new Pokemon I wanna use for another 2 playthroughs.

They really did a great job of making a bunch of cool looking Pokemon with unique abilities, typing or signature moves to set them apart.

For the first time ever with a Pokémon game I've gone into this completely blind. It feels so good. Still gonna be wary of what I read here since I'm not THAT far but it feels good to post in a Pokémon thread.
This game is great. For the first time in a long time I'm having difficulty choosing 6 Pokemon for my team. There's so many I wanna use!
On a side note, where do I scan those QR codes!?
