Pokémon Sun & Moon |OT| Ultra Beasts and where to find them

Is it true Sun/Moon lets you max out a Pokemon's IV's and EV's without all the breeding/battling the same Pokemon repeatedly nonsense?

If so, how complex is the process, and can it be done an unlimited number of times?

This may determine if I buy Sun/Moon or not.

(whoever decided that the early-game bug should have a location-based evolution that you can't reach until near the end of the game should be fired :P)

At least its middle evolution is decent, but definitely feels lacking, mid-way through the game.

Anyone else think that the distribution of wild gen 7 Pokemon is lower than it should be? I spent about about 30 minutes going through the start of Lana's trial (including time spent in lengthy SOS battles) and I saw 1 Morelull and 2 Wishiwashi, and the Wishiwashi were part of the story. Every single random battle except for the one Morelull fight towards the beginning was a Pokemon from a previous gen, a Psyduck, a Poliwag, a Wingull, or a Surskit.

Shouldn't there be, I dunno, more new Pokemon? I feel like I'm fighting way more Pokemon from previous gens than I should be. The first island was way better about this, and I really hope it changes soon.

There are way too many new pokemon with 1%-20% chances of appearing. Some of them feel less prominent than the older ones because of it.

All that matters ultimately is nature for breeding, IVs can be changed. You still need to battle for EVs but it's much much faster than even hordes.

Pokemon sun moon

Why the fuck is every cool Pokemon exclusive to the last island you fucks. At least make them a hyper rare find in one of the other islands. This means two of the 6 spots in my team will remain empty.

Scyther, jangmo-o un last island. No fucking gible, no fucking lucario. Not even giving me a T rex to add to my team.

Why. Whyyyyyy

On one hand I love all the changes they made to the battle system screen. Throwing a Poke Ball right from that menu is genius, as is allowing one to add a caught Pokémon straight to the party after catching. And this new region is quite nice.

On the other hand, I've played for about 3 hours and the handholding is so bad. I expect it given its Pokémon but there's so much... I thought after that training school I would be let free but nope.

I don't get why some people are hating on this game. I've never been so takin in by a pokemon game b/f. Loving it :)

The cutscenes/hand-holding/linearity is admittedly pretty annoying at times. And the whole S.O.S. thing is definitely hit-and-miss. But damn it all, this game may beat out HGSS for me. And I haven't even gotten to the real meat of the story yet.

Turns out, even if two Pokemon in the nursery don't like playing together, they'll still breed. Good to know. Gonna start churning out Rowletts for fun and profit.

Do eggs still hatch based on how many steps you take, or is it based on something else now that the game isn't grid based? I'm gonna guess that dashing back and force with Tauros is the best way to hatch eggs, but if anyone else has a better way feel free to let me know.

I stppped playing this for now because I still haven't finished X so went back to that and omg. It's like only gen 1 and 2 Pokémon in the starting areas.

So what does it mean if my Pokémon (my starter) is tired/drowsy and doesnt know if it can perform well? Obviously it's a bad sign but how do I go about fixing it? I don't recall anything in the game yet about resting/sleeping.

Got stuck on last page last post, blhek. Any answers/help is most appreciated.

Two quick questions as I can't buy it until next Friday!

A) Is Pokemon bank compatible with these games yet?

B) Is it possible to bring forward my Pokemon from my downloaded version of Red?

Edit: thanks guys

A) No, not until January.

B) It will be possible once Pokemon Bank is compatible with Sun/Moon.

Well I screwed up, got rid of Nuzzle instead of Volt Tackle for Raichu (for Psychic). I can't remember for sure but can mons recall old moves across the evolution line or just the current form? Oh well, my Raichu has higher attack than Special anyway cuz of shitty nature, took me forever to find pichu

yay "beat" the game, of course still have all those legendaries to catch

edit: bullshit why is Tapu Koko immediately after the champion battle

Is there any incentive to send a non crap pokemon over wonder trade? I always try and send something decent, but always get crap in return :(

"linearity"

Man y'all got some weird hangups about the shape your path takes through a game especially given SM give you a lot to do and accomplish if you want right off the bat

Already? Man, the Pokemon hacking community is insane.
The demo really helped (same save structure as retail game and some sort of left over code helped crack the save encoding) but leaked version was what really made it day -x.

It's something like steps. Now you see the nursery just south of it is that small pen. You walk into there, there is space summon Tauros but the entrance is too narrow for Tauros to leave so you can just hold B and rotate the circle pad. Here is a video of it.

While it would be nice to find a glitched piece of geometry that Tauros could infinitely run on in one direction however this is a good spot as you can always see the egg lady (add into that not need to deposit into the PC with a full party). Egg hatching time on Tauros with a flame body Pokemon seems to be about the same as it was with the hatching o-power.

be a nice person? Help make the system itself less crappy?
A few weeks after XY release you started getting competitive breeding rejects. It just seems now too many players are near the start of the game so you're only getting route 1 junk.

I love it. Only problem is the handholding.

Yeah, I really wish there was some kind of "I've played this game for years, don't tell me shit, just let me skip this shit" kind of feature.

Make me take some fucking quiz, bury it like 20 menu choices deep, whatever the hell.

I started playing the game last night, and I kept comparing to games like pokemon red.

When you have 3D and they are mixing in "story" that you don't really care about, with handholdyness, it drags like hell.

Like, just give me a god damn starter, some pokemon balls and let me go. Sweet jesus.

Is it just saying that at the beginning of battle? I get a similar message and it's just little bits of text you get if your Pokémon has high Refresh affection. It has only positive affects on battles (like higher chances to dodge and free status cures).

Yeah and my Pokémon does a little shake at the start; "being drowsy and worried about performing well" sounds like a status effect I need to heal or something.

i guess i just wish there were more nice people doing wonder trades :)

Oh btw I keep running out of biscuits to feed my Pokemon. Only way to get more I've found is buying a drink once a day at that cafe in the Pokemon Center. Are there any other ways to get more?

Linearity shouldn't be cited as the game's main problem. I take exception with the poorly justified obstacles cordoning off early exploration. I was replaying Crystal before SuMo's release and Johto is honestly almost as linear as Alola. The difference is that game isn't constantly guiding your hand and lets the player feel out the path.

Even with that issue, SuMo is shaping up to be my favorite Pokemon since gen 2.

What is the purpose of the green dots on the rotom fed map? Is there a guide for getting bottle caps?

I think those might by Zygarde Cell locations.

I just finished the trial on Mt. Hakulani. Holy crap Bewear is awesome. I used Bulk Up twice and then dropped the totem pokemon with a critical Shadow Claw.

I do have to echo the sentiment that a lot of the cooler pokemon are being kept for FAR too late into the game. My ideal in terms of early game variety would be BW2 or XY where you had tons of viable options.

That's what I thought but nothing shows up when I go to the spots.

Jesus literally every Pokemon I want is put as late game or post main campaign.

This is such horse shit.

This is a non-issue. The GTS exists. There's really no such thing as exclusive. I traded for all the Pokemon I wanted to use throughout the game as soon as I could.

Use the traded ones or breed ones for yourself if you'd prefer that.

I've never seen it say my Pokémon are drowsy, but it does sometimes say they're worried about performing well. The shake is part of what I'm talking about too. Sometimes it'll say other stuff but I'm pretty sure what you're describing is just the special text you get when you play with your Pokémon a lot. It might also sometimes say "Your Pokémon is intrigued by your fashion" and others.

Yep

My team was pretty boring until right around the middle of the second island. Dartrix + Hoenn and Kanto Pokemon I had used a million times, like Wingull and Makuhita.
