Bandai Namco & Arc System Works could come close. I know many people mention NRS, but it may be a conflict of interest for WB when NRS already does DC fighting games.

No, they couldn't.

Arc System works has no IP outside of the fighting community that anyone cares about.

Bandai/Namco is in the same boat. There's Tekken, Soul Calibur and nothing else within the last decade.

Part of the casual appeal with the property is seeing characters from games you like that don't typically show up in a fighter.

Nintendo could- but a Marvel vs. Nintendo would end up limited to nintendo hardware, and I doubt Marvel would go this route.

Other than Capcom, only SEGA has the experience making fighters along with a broad enough IP catalogue- but they're a shell of their former selves and a lot of that IP hasn't been relevant in a long time.

edit: and yeah, NRS being involved with the DC games probably rules them out immediately.

While we're talking impossible pipe dreams, Bamco could be a vital lynchpin in making something like Capcom Vs. Jump happen. Yeah, it'd probably be a localization/licensing nightmare, but if they were able to bring over (the thoroughly mediocre) J-Stars...

ASW has recently made a Dragonball Z fighter and a One Piece one.

Namco has made a Pokemon fighter.

Make it Marvel vs Capcom vs Tatsunoko vs Hokuto no Ken. All the licensing fees in the world. But really put in Venom and make Kenshiro a guest character.

They don't own those IP. they're all licensed.

You want them to negotiate costs for the marvel license AND the DBZ license AND the one piece license? That game would retail for $99.99.

And pokemon isn't going anywhere that isn't nintendo hardware.

It just stroke me that we may end up living a generation where a VS game is more successful than a Street Fighter. Oh lawd.

Was so disappointed by the art style of MVC3, the move from manga to american comic was ugly at best. I hope they can MAKE MARVEL GREAT AGAIN.

With how much money the Marvel movies are making, is that really so tough to believe?

Seeing SFV? Not really. Kinda want Capcom to go all out on single player content and tutorials now, if only for the anger of elitistFGC on GAF.

EDIT: scratch Kinda. Totally want it.
