Final Fantasy XV SPOILER THREAD

She occasionally drops in to help in hard battles in Duscae. It's pretty awesome.

But yeah I wish she was a permanent party member. Coolest looking Dragoon in the series IMO

ironically she may have just been added due to the backlash against no party members. To think she was once just a sub boss

He was still very much demonic and "insane" by the end of the game. I don't think he was good--he was definitely evil, but there absolutely had to be something good about him at one point because he did make a massive sacrifice and was then cast out for making said sacrifice. But I don't think it's too large of a leap to say that he knew precisely what would happen if he "lost," and by letting Noctis grow to full strength he absolutely creates a scenario where he can lose. Maybe it wasn't his total intent, but if he just wanted the Plague of Stars to happen he could've just off'd Noct right then and there instead of setting things up so the Plague can be cured--which is what his original intention was back before he was demonized. I dunno, I think there's enough depth to draw various conclusions about Ardyn's "true intent" and while I wish there was more I'm also happy it wasn't a pure exposition dump about his motivation.
Again he straight up explains why he doesn't just kill Noctis before he gets the power of the crystal. He straight up activated the plague while Noctis was asleep and is the sole cause for them being in the modern world considering her mass produced daemons.

It is a shame that he was so underutilized because I think as it is he's one of the more compelling FF villains. If they'd put more of his motivation and backstory into the game it would've hit even harder.
I mean they explained his motivation well I just don't think he has the depth to also want to do more good for the world based on his body language and appearance at the end. Granted, it would be a good idea to want to fix the world while seeking redemption but his redemption solely included killing Noctis with or without the daemons being destroyed.

I think Ardyn took Izunia's name as a backhanded insult to Izunia's memory. Sort've like a, "Well you fucked me over so I'm going to drag your name through the mud even if I'm the only one that knows it."

Re: That art. The Jesus metaphor for Ardyn continues to be super strong and I sorta dig it.
Everything Ardyn does is for the sake of revenge against the royal family. I legitimately don't think he cared if the plague ruined the world or not since he let it happen for 10 years while the only person who could stop it was asleep.

So two things.

After Kingsglaive I kinda expected a scene with the ancient kings of lucis when Noctis finally put the ring on. It was quite lame.

And at the end, before suiciding, he leaves his bros at the door and a lot of demons appear. Noctis tells tjem that "I leave it in your hands" or something like that.

But later they appear in the scene of the beyond, where Noctis finally destroys Ardyn or whatever.

Are they dead too? I sort of thought they werent.

And about Ardyn and the Lucis line.

I assume the Crystal grants power to every king in the Lucis line, but eventually the crystal chose one as the chosen. The chosen one is Noctis and as the profecy says, he has to die to bring back the light to the world. His father and Luna are completely aware of this from the beginning and that's why regis is always so sad around Noctis.

Ardyn was a Lucis that was denied his throne? Did he ever reign?, but he was deemed unworthy by the crystal because of the scourge and all the darkness he accumulated to save the people and he wants revenge, he wants the crystal destroyed, the darkness to prevail and the lucis line gone? I need some clarifications with this maybe.

The ending was so... Final Fantasy. ;_;

I also liked the revised logo where it included older Noctis lol.

Also, what the hell happened to Iedolas. He just... Disappeared.

Didn't you read the notes in the dungeon? The same thing that happened to all those other people who vanished.

Yup. Now I remember. Though that part was well... Strange like it just happened at an instant.

Not to mention Chapter 13 is strange.

The whole second half just looks like -cut-cut-cut-cut.

Like they had a lot of material but just not enough time to create gameplay segments around it and they just cut it all.

You even go inside the throne room, where Iedolas' garments are on the throne, empty.

When Prompto reveals he is an MT.

So did you enjoy the theme song along with the scene then?

I enjoyed it. It was so FF.

I thought that part was bad. The entire Chapter 13 was bad. It just happened because reasons. There's almost no backstory for the transformation of people, etc. But at least we know who Ardyn is.

And lol at Ifrit = Ardyn though. Although Ifrit kinda popped out of nowhere?

Also I'd like to clarify (got this from the wiki):

He was eventually demonized in the eyes of the world by another, who became the Crystal's new chosen: Ardyn hints that this person was the original "Izunia", who took the Caelum name. Driven insane by bitterness and his lust for vengeance, Ardyn decides to wait and exact revenge by destroying the chosen True King and the Crystal.

So Ardyn was one of the Chosen ones, but in the end the Crystal chose another one who was an "Izunia" then that new Chosen one (aka the lineage of Noctis) became a Lucis Caelum?

I really like that the Iedolas transformation was handled so subtly, and that you're chased for a while by this terrifying demon before you realize that it's him.

Verstael, on the other hand...

I didn't realize that one enemy was Ledolas until he died.

Its weird that the bros appear in the afterlife. Moments after the Iron Giants spawn the curse is lifted, and he even says he'll leave it (probably the well being of Eos) into their hands. Its weird that they die after such a cliche.

About Ardyn sounds about right, he's being cast aside and being denied by the Astrals after he was imbued with Darkness so they chose another one. But this Izunia fucked him as well, I think he was being branded a demon by him in particular? It doesn't sound like this Izunia did it in a good way, more like he stole Ardyn's spot. Izunia also means weasel.

Ardyn in turn stole his name and fucked his legacy up, lol.

Just finished, so many things just felt so sudden, maybe I missed some cutscenes where things are alluded to?

Prompto being an MT
Ravus' 1st "death"
The bad guys basically being "Oh, they're all turned into demons now!"

I'm guessing the DLC will be Prompto getting captured, Ignis going blind, and Glad doing whatever he did when he went off and got that forehead scar.

Didn't you read the notes in the dungeon? The same thing that happened to all those other people who vanished.

You even fight against him (in his demon form) shortly before the fight against Ravus. It's the same demon that you had to escape from via elevator during the Noctis solo part where you don't have all of your powers.

Verstael, on the other hand...

Whatever happened to Verstael? Did he just... Disappear from the game?

At least Nyx was there in the end stage in some form lol.

Dissappearing requires that someone had some kind of significance to the story. lol
He had one line in the entire game... xd

I don't even remember him appearing in the game... I know he was in Kingsglaive though.

Or was he just that incredibly sidelined lol.

I am fairly certain about that. Those deliberate plotholes were too obvious.

Skimming through the art book, there's so much lore, so much untold story, so much potential....
I really like the game but the story was a let down for me. :/

I hope this is mere coincidence and not a trend. Basically, this and MGSV were my 2 top choices for this gen way back. And both underdelivered in actual storytelling and character building. Both saw huge development issues, so lets hope its just that.

Is there a separate art book or is it just the strategy guide?

It's like as not gonna be a trend. Open world experiences are incredibly hard to tell a consistent narrative in. It's something tabletop RPGs have struggled with for a long time.

It's obvious to me there has been a lot of cut content. I liked the story a lot but its really painful to think what could have been and will never be. There are hints there, but oh well.

FFXVI shouldn't attempt an open world. I'm fine with towns as big as Lestallum and field areas as big as say... The Calm Lands of FFX.

Though what they can lift from FFXV are the dungeon designs and strong characterizations.

It's a seperate one and right now only available if you buy the UCE. I guess there'll be a seperate ( hopefully with even more concept art) one at some point though. I'd really love to have a more in depth look in the design changes over the years.
Love seeing those old versus XIII concepts (https://twitter.com/FinalXV/status/804373413456445444)

Does anyone know when the ultimania guides come out in Japan?

Nomura wanted trilogy and it is clear from just playing the game that part 1 - niflheim invasion and escape part 2 - lucis region leading to altissia part 3 - solheim region leading to final at insomnia

This could have taken years of development.

We don't know anything about the Versus or original 15 plot outside of certain basic things we saw in the trailers.

Again, its very extreme to say you can map the entire plot of whatever sequence of games Nomura may have wanted to do based on this severely compromised final result without actually knowing anything about the final scenario Nomura and Nojima wrote. At most we can say the concepts could have possibly led to certain outcomes.

As far i can tell, there are only bits and pieces of much in the game as it stands now, with the meat of the game being the actual gameplay segments.

I think they should have a world similar to XII again. There was a lot of great locations in that game that were a very distinctive from each other.

Did you see the post-credits cutscene? They dead.

I am hearing some bullshit on 4chan about them revisiting the world of XV with another game with Nomura's vision lol. Sounds like total bullshit, then again we thought the leaked plot details and summons were bullshit too.

I really like to think Square isn't that stupid and would leave it behind once DLC support ends and they potentially drop a PC port.

its nonsense, don't entertain it

Me entertaining it would have been posting that garbage here. I don't believe it either but it's funny to think about.

On another note after playing it the story seems to be the only issue at least for me anyway. I don't quite get the car complaints other than if you want to drive at your own pace during manual but on auto I like taking in the sights.

Nobody noticed but Somnus spoiled this game ten years ago.

Omnia dividit
Tragedia coram
Amandum quae

Et nocte perpetua

God sleeps
And children are able to light a flame
They never extinguish
But he will never awake

Separate everything,
This tragedy destroys,
every beloved thing.

And in this endless night,
In despair
He may see the dawn
That will awake him in the next morning

I'm assuming Noctis or Regis have never read a history book. Cause Ardyn Izunia should ring some bells.

its been years, maybe they just never entertained such a far out possibility?

10 years of endless night. Noctics saw the dawn in the afterlife I guess. :P

I'm assuming Noctis or Regis have never read a history book. Cause Ardyn Izunia should ring some bells.

Unless he was erased from history. I saw the scene again and he was the first Lucis Caelum and a Healer who was ready to be chosen, but a jealous King who wasn't chosen fucked him over. That king can't have been a Lucis Caelum, as that was Ardyn's name. He took it.

So the whole line was built on a lie. Noctis isn't from the same blood, but does carry his name.

I have to say I was very impressed the first time I entered Altissia but now it's making me a little angry to see this huge area on the map and only be able to have access to 1/10 of the city or so, not even speaking of the massive surrounding areas. >.>

Game goes down the shitter from there.
