Name an industry where this doesn't happen. If there was a book, movie, or other piece of artwork that was as tremendously well received both critically and commercially, then there would be a sequel.

Just be glad that Naughty Dog is handling it and not someone else. With them at the helm, it's entirely possible that the game is as good as or even better than the first game.

Yes must admit did not think Ellie and Joel would return, but I'm glad it's them. Such a world with so much potential would be silly not to expand on their story. For one I'm very pleased and I cannot wait to see where the story goes and I must admit the shivers ran down my spine like never before at a game conference.

Kinda disappointed, even though I love the first game and it's multiplayer. Fell that the world of Last of Us has some much potential for other stories to be told instead of taking the obvious route of Joel and Ellie again. WIth the ending of Last of Us and this trailer it's easy to see the direction the story is gonna take and how it will probably end. Oh well, just really wanted to see what was happening in other parts of the country/world and how other people were dealing with the outbreak, fireflies, hunters,etc.

Either way even if I'm not feeling the story, the main thing I enjoyed about the first game anyway was the gameplay, so hey I'll probably be fine.

Interested in how they will reconcile the ending of the previous game with future events. If TLOU had just been a story about a typical band of survivors I could see further stories with the same characters but since Ellie is so integral to the whole state of the world I think it will be difficult to proceed forwards without redressing the same plot concerns and themes as the first one.
