The Last of Us Part II announced

Punished Ellie

Really didn't need a sequel and certainly didn't need one with the same characters...

but I'd be lying if I said that trailer didn't get me hype.

Jesus Christ, i hate this industry...

Name an industry where this doesn't happen. If there was a book, movie, or other piece of artwork that was as tremendously well received both critically and commercially, then there would be a sequel.

Just be glad that Naughty Dog is handling it and not someone else. With them at the helm, it's entirely possible that the game is as good as or even better than the first game.

Not sure how I feel about this. Seems to soon and I thought TLOU ended perfectly with no need for a sequel. Will still get cause of that ND quality.

Got the same feeling from this as seeing FF7R. This is going to be a long fucking wait. Yesssss.

Am happy they're sticking with Ellie and Joel. Part of me wanted TLOU1 to be their story, but damn did I want more.

I feel like theres more to their story, so I appreciate another game. If anything, the "Part II" pretty much solidifies that this is the last game with these characters.

Lol at people not wanting two of the greatest characters ever to be in the game.

Zombie apocalypse world isnt special, those characters are what made the game.

Sequel with those two was the ONLY way to go. Cannot fucking wait.
Posts like those really make you glad the right people are running Naughty Dog. Some of the ideas in here are terrible.

I really don't understand why everyone are clamouring for a sequel expanding the world without Joel and Ellie. Their characters make up a massive part of what I love about the original, if you take them out, you are left with just another post apocalyptic zombie world.

Watch, Joel's actually dead and we play with him as useless backup for most of the game only to find out that he's been a hallucination.

Y'know, I'd thought we had the end of Joel and Ellie's story in TLoU.

But that game was Joel's story. Just his.

This trailer suggests that this time it's Ellie's turn to take the lead.

And I am so in.

Let's be real tho.

Joel is dying this game. Absolutely lmao.

And he's going to have a heroic badass death worthy of a badass like him.

Yes must admit did not think Ellie and Joel would return, but I'm glad it's them. Such a world with so much potential would be silly not to expand on their story. For one I'm very pleased and I cannot wait to see where the story goes and I must admit the shivers ran down my spine like never before at a game conference.

Also, for disappointed in getting another high quality game, just don't buy it. I'm gonna buy this Day One and I'm excited to explore that world again.

Kinda disappointed, even though I love the first game and it's multiplayer. Fell that the world of Last of Us has some much potential for other stories to be told instead of taking the obvious route of Joel and Ellie again. WIth the ending of Last of Us and this trailer it's easy to see the direction the story is gonna take and how it will probably end. Oh well, just really wanted to see what was happening in other parts of the country/world and how other people were dealing with the outbreak, fireflies, hunters, etc.

Either way even if I'm not feeling the story, the main thing I enjoyed about the first game anyway was the gameplay, so hey I'll probably be fine.

Interested in how they will reconcile the ending of the previous game with future events. If TLOU had just been a story about a typical band of survivors I could see further stories with the same characters but since Ellie is so integral to the whole state of the world I think it will be difficult to proceed forwards without redressing the same plot concerns and themes as the first one.
