A nod to the first game? Notice the window on the left.

A tease of dangerous animals?

I was thinking something like that but couldn't properly remember what the starting image looked like. That's pretty cool.

Unless they're going to directly patch the first game to change its ending, this is the weirdest thought process ever.

Done correctly, TLOUp2's story can perfectly complement the first game's ending, build off of it, show us where things go. Have we lost faith in ND so quickly? They wouldn't tell this story if they didn't think it wouldn't do all of that.

The future uncertainty made the ending.

This inherently destroys that.

Not that hard to understand.

Ellie dying at the beginning would be a shocker. Would be interesting to see.

Anyways, I hope they toned down the ladders and box moving by a lot.

In the past i wanted no more Ellie and Joel but after a while i change my mind .
One of the best parts of a sequel is watch characters grow and Ellie is perfect for that .
The world is still a mess and there is a lot more they can do with them .

Should have been called The Last of Us 2: The Last of Them; Part 2 is too classy for me :P

But seriously, I'm actually glad they're doing a direct sequel. Too few games series are actually trying to create an ongoing story nowadays, this is a breath of fresh air in a way. Though personally I don't think TLoU's world is interesting enough to do something completely unrelated to Ellie and Joel.

I'll absolutely get this. I'm personally glad it's Joel and Ellie. I loved those characters and I want to see more of them.

Wow, really didn't expect this. While I think TLOU ended perfectly and it didn't "need" a sequel, I am still exited. I believe in Neil & Naughty Dog.

Choked up and almost shed a tear while watching the trailer, had to keep my shit together because my gf was watching it from the other side of the room and would have thought I'm a lunatic.

The moment I saw the rusty car I was already clenching my fists, when I saw the fireflies logo my lower lip got all shaky.

It's a sequel to my favorite fucking game of all time :(

Y'know, after watching the trailer again, it almost seems as if the direction could be Ellie heading out on her own and leaving Joel behind when he says "You sure you wanna go through with this?"

Yeah I got vibes that he was not there, just a vision. I tried to see his reflection in her eyes but I couldn't. Not sure what the story is but I trust Naughty Dog with this and cannot wait till it comes out, PS4 pro will be mine before it comes out.

It's a little thing but can we talk about how classy calling it Part II is? I kept wondering what they would name it, and for some reason even though its an obvious choice it never occurred to me. The Last of Us 2 would have came across cheesy I feel like.

I'm iffy about the whole Joel as a hallucination theory/possibilty. I think there's a big chance that it would fall flat really fast.

Especially in world that is as grounded as TLoU.

Personally I'm stoked they are bringing Joel and Ellie back for Part 2. The first game was amazing because of those characters and I definitely want to see more of their story.

I thought it just sounded dumb. Like they're trying to get away from just putting a 2 on it because they wanted to market their obvious cash-in sequel as something a bit more creative than that.

'Part II' is a nice touch.

I loved TLOU but didn't feel anything for this trailer, probably because I need to see more about the game and less about guitars. But it's ND, they will deliver and my PS4 is more than ready.

I don't think there's any guarantee that's accurate but I could see it happening.

But there are other options. I just wonder what happened that made Ellie lose it so badly. Something horrible had to have happened, and the thing you would jump to is someone hurting Joel. But he's there with her so who knows what it could be

I initially was pretty towards the idea of Joel and Ellie being back, i really wanted new characters with new stories.

But i learned to trust Naughty Gods, and the fact they chose to call it Part II instead of 2 makes me think that they are confident in bringing those characters back, that they have other developement arcs in store for them.

Bring it on in 2018? 2019? 201X?

I'll play it but I never cared to know what happened to them after the conclusion. The revenge angle is a bit meh to me.

I wanted either:

Grown up Chloe as main character with no Joel.

or

New characters with Joel and Ellie somewhere in the world.

I wanted more world building in order to have a better sequel with Joel and Ellie. But it looks like we are just getting the sequel nonsense. Better be damn good.

Those shows all have better narratives, story structure, cinematography, acting and pacing than TLOU and more than likely have had an adverse affect on the audience during emotional moments much more so than TLOU did.
The Walking Dead has literally turned into a caricature of itself by following this trope too heavily and became character death porn. So no, you can overburden your narrative by following this road.
And it's because the characters never face any consequences in ND games, what consequences did Nathan Drake ever face for his actions in the last two UC games besides "oh no my wife is mad at me again." Part of why i'm hyped about this, is to see Joel get what's coming to him, as he's a POS
Oh please, no one is going to argue that Uncharted games are some kind of beacon of story-telling drama. Complaining about Uncharted not having enough consequence is like complaining that some pulp-action movies like The Mummy doesn't have enough consequences. That's never what those games were supposed to be about.

If Ellie is going crazy through trauma and mirdering it isn't that off.

It's a little played out and easy, is all.
