The Last of Us Part II announced

Rewatching the trailer, honestly I cannot get over how dumb it is that she's opting to play the guitar just moments after killing two people AND while staring at a dude's corpse.

I don't think I'll ever be able to see this stuff as the high art people seem to make it out to be.

Equally stupid is her tat....i know getting a tattoo will be high up on my priority list in that kinda society..... i wonder how many ration cards it cost her.

Kinda bummed that we don't have a choice of playing as Joel . As someone getting old and with a niece around the same age, I can relate to him way more.

Right, this should be totally way more of a completely realistic interpretation of a post apocalyptic zombie universe. Jesus Christ, gaf

Honestly that isn't unbelievable in the slightest. Dudes manage to get tats done in prison ffs. If anything any sort of expression that you can hold on to could be really valuable to some people. Soldiers and warriors have done these things before as well.

Honestly I wanted TLOU to be played all the way from Ellie's perspective, I think she's a more interesting character than Joel could ever hope to be so I am interested to see how she's developed since the last game.

high chance its a tat to hide the bite..

Totally valid possibility, I'm sure someone can figure out which arm she had the bite on/see if it matches up.

I want to see Joel making this face every time Ellie talks to one of the Fireflies.

raw

Just him being anxious his secret's going to get out the entire game.

we dont really see the bitemark and we cant see if the tat covers it...but like i said high chance it has something to do with it

The game is based on concepts of emotion, dramatic appeal and relationships. The moment immersion is broken to show "cool things" people will stop caring. That's Scriptwriting 101.

I feel like game logic has truly gripped people's minds when they say things like "killing is normal". This is not how people function even if they are used to death.

Honestly even in the first game if Joel walked in on someone doing what she's doing he'd probably say "what in the hell are you doing?"

Game logic or not, we're talking about the apocalypse here and they've killed an absurb amount of people by then. It should be completely believeable for Joel to react like that based on the game's universe. Also, like I mentioned, Joel might've been with her when the killing ensued so the reaction would be quite fitting it that was the case.

Maybe they killed a whole lot more of people just moments ago on that vengeance rampage Ellie seems to be in. Like I said, imagination.

Either way, I found Joel's reaction quite normal.

People in prison have more time than they care for, and are not generally preoccupied with, you know, surviving day-to-day.

Soldiers get tats to show they are part of a unified group, not to enhance their killing ability.

What bout if joel killied all of them and hes saying to ellie is this what you really wanna do.

Basically look at what i am / done is this the path you wanna go etc

Why do I see people who have only enough money for either a tat or food choose the tat at a surprisingly high rate?

What the fuck?

He said TLOU Part 2 was pitched when TLOU Left Behind was pitched.

"We knew that it needed to be a story worth telling and, perhaps more importantly, a story worthy of Joel and Ellie. After spending years on different ideas (and almost giving up), we finally uncovered a story that felt special—a story that evolved into an epic journey."

Okay.

When killing/surviving is your every day life in a world with no hope, and you find a guitar sitting around, you BEST BELIEVE I'm going to play the shit out of it.

You play that guitar, girl!

Honestly I feel like the reason people feel he might be dead is the way he starts the conversation is mad awkward. He doesn't ask wtf happened in the house, he doesn't seem concerned about much of anything really. Just asks if she's "gonna go through with this" right after she's done playing guitar. Not really how someone would probably start that conversation in that situation.

Whether or not that's what they were going for, idunno.

I mean who knows if it is even a scene from the game and not something done just for the teaser.

It is possible but the way it is shot/animated really suggests Joel has a physical presence.

And if it is in the game maybe she's already gonna on a spree and he's gotten used to it lol.

Maybe this has been brought up before, but what if Joel is already dead, and he exists only in Ellie's head? Would explain Ellie's rage, and the Firefly's definitely had the reason to kill Joel.

It looks like it in this teaser for sure. She isn't really reacting to him and he was rather passive. Plus no full shot of his face.

I feel like them exploring what the cordyceps does to her brain makes too much sense in that regard too :( I hope it isn't so, I don't want to have been basically spoiled THIS early on!

The tattoo covers the bite mark.. Makes perfect sense. Remember she she never wore short sleeves in the first game.

Considering the way her hand was shaking she didn't just shrug off the killing as normal. She was still shaken. If these were revenge kills for murdering Joel maybe that how she honors/remembers him in some dark way.

The urge to play Part I again is so strong... but I can't just stop playing FFXV for like 12 hours lol.

Started rewatching my favourite Letsplay of it instead :P

Her hand was shaking, her knuckles and forehead was bloody and there's a machete on the ground, let's not reach.

I hope we get more rain, love rain in videogames and the rain TLOU was awesome.

Mix that with the forest we saw in the teaser and I might be very happy. :D

Notice that when Joel starts to talk to Ellie, her face makes a grimace and a move, like she tries to deny what he says. I think she does that because Joel has already said to her to stop and she knows what he's going to say to her (to stop) and she doesn't want to listen to him or Joel's a hallunication and she tries to stop or deny it, like she tried to stop her shaking hand.

You can see her face on the gif below.

And in that same conversation he said the idea was pitched when I said it was pitched. Now try to unravel that mystery.

Druckmann isn't making any sense then.

Honestly, I don't particularly care what's the major motivation behind the existence of TLOU2, I'm just challenging the notion that a "Part 2" to the story was always planned.

This time i think it's important that they nail the ia, just to fulfill that vision we saw with the first gameplay of the first game.

Just saw the panel, the tech they are using to capture the facial expressions is amazing.

Also that Santaolalla track, joelbanderas.gif

wtf i just noticed ellie looks pregnant in the uncharted 4 easter egg???

That is probably her mother.

More like Ellie's wearing a gas mask so her child doesn't get affected. ;)

She is likely immune because her mother was bitten while she was still in womb. Immunity would likely passed to any offspring.

Druckmann said he envisioned TLOU as Ellie's origin story. She is now the lead in the sequel. The idea of sequel was always there.

Some posts here are wrecking my brain.
Why not just wait for context instead of jumping to conclusions? So many baseless assumptions.

This game is probably two years away. The teaser was meant to get people talking.

No its not post of the thread...

Its a teaser trailer. We have no idea what context its meant to be in.

And yea...the theory about the tat is believable.

HYPE!

Only thing I didn't like about the trailer was the "I'm going to kill every single one of them" or whatever she said. It just came of as a cheesy thing and a cliche. But I understand they needed to set something up.

Some people are overwhelmed by how a single trailer for a single game, elevates the industry once again to new heights.

This is possibly the most graphically advanced videogame to be shown, and a sequel to another game that was second to none back in it's time.

And that might bother them by the thousands.

For its time? For many this is their favorite game of all time. Not much that has released since compares IMO. And it was only 3 years ago!

On what basis? :)

Uh...If Druckmann always envisioned the story as a two-parter he wouldn't need to spend a couple of years looking for the right idea for a sequel. That just means he had no idea what a sequel would be about.

Also, I'm one of those that always believed TLOU ended rather conclusively. Whatever Druckmann might have said after the fact, I certainly didn't get the feeling I was playing Ellie Begins.

Come on guys. "Things" have reasons in this game. It is completely not relevant if you personally find these "things" unrealistic, weird or not fitting in their world. These things are a part of ND's story and they will be explained however they want. If you see it in any other way, then I don't think you understand this game.

Tattoo: yes it could be the most blatent reason of hiding the bite, there can also be more to it.

Guitar: It can simply calm her, it can make her think of Joel, maybe she just felt like playing it, or maybe (blatently) she has a fetish for playing the guitar after killing people.

Also, maybe it was just there to let you know that in the new timeline setting she had learned to play from Joel. We are looking at a first trailer to set up the story / setting and this scene was made up 2 years ago. It does not necessarily mean that this scene is going to be in the game. Actually I think that during the panel Troy was trying to say that Neil told him that it was not in the game like this, but Neil was being a bit weird about it. (I didn't re-watch that part, this moment between Troy and Neil could have been about something else)

We are all just speculating which is cool and what they want us to do.

Eh I'm sure it will be good but I really feel like I got my money's worth with these characters and this world.

Part of me is just kinda disappointed that it is so rare for things to be put to rest peacefully in gaming, it just has to be continued literally until no one is interested anymore.

Were you guys not paying attention in the first game? Ellie takes breaks all the time to mess around with shit. She'd be watching you strangle a guy in one room and then raving about a video game in the next. It's perfectly within her character to play the guitar when given the opportunity.

It's one sequel. Jesus...
