I was looking at this as a possible PC gaming monitor as my BenQ BL3200 (2560x1440) had a fault so returned it for full refund. I've skimmed half the pages and I'm not closer to understanding if it is good for my usage with a GTX 1070). Go for something like this, an alternative, or some other monitor. Problem with monitor is the size doesn't seem to go above 40" (example Iiyama X4071UHSU-B1).

So I'm having a lot of trouble getting the color settings right with this TV specially with the playstation 4 pro. It looks amazing with my PC and WiiU but I can't seem to get it right with the pro.

Might be the area of the game you are at. A lot of the outside seems to have that hazy washed out look, and the lighting is a bit overcast. For dramatic lighting in the game you would have to be indoors, or wait till later in the game for different light conditions.
Do you have any other games you can test? FFXV has amazing HDR implementation and looks fantastic. TLG also looks fantastic, but i think a lot of the washed to white look is just their art direction.

I did play FF15. Finished and sold it yesterday but I felt as it was off as well. I don't know if it was just the graphics or what. But yes, when I am in doors in TLG, it does seem to look a bit better. I'll just keep messing with the settings.
Have you tried toggling the Live Color option in advanced settings?
I posted my settings earlier in the thread. Some others have posted theirs. You can try comparing them to what you have. That, or post your settings and take a pic of your TV and we can take a look. Your room conditions also impact how your display shows things.
I always keep it on High haha. I love vibrant looking colors.
VA panels always better than IPS unless you have a large screen that is centrally positioned in a living room where a lot of people will be viewing off angle. But 90% of owners will sit directly in front or within 10-25 degrees, maybe 30 degrees off angle, 90% of the time, and so the increased viewing angle never really worth it in my opinion over the deeper black and contrast that VA provides. Unless there is no other option and IPS is all they make for that size, spring for the VA.

Can you please open up GAF (Non Dark Theme) in a browser window and then scroll a long 100 post thread page and look at the grey background to white background transitions as you're scrolling. Does the grey lag behind at all or leave behind a different color as a temporary trail?

I'm using this as my main PC monitor with all the consoles hooked up too. Not sure what you want to know specifically but I have no problems with a 980ti system. With enhanced HDMI on I have it at 3840x2160 ycrbr444 60hz in the control panel. The viewing angle colour shift of VA can come into effect if you sit real close as the sides of the panel are actually at an angle. I tried Shadow Warrior 2 with HDR and it works well so hopefully future games will just work too.

Look at the top UFO, you can see a color band of yellow and red lagging behind. I hate that shit, and for some reason nobody else in my family notices it but me.
Luckily, at roughly 12ms grey to grey, this TV is one of the better VA panels, but I would have liked the 43 inch to have an IPS panel. I know, blacks won't be as good etc.
Is there anyway to reduce that affect? Should I increase the backlight a bit?

Make sure your RGB settings are matched up. (i.e, auto to auto, limited to limited, or full to full)
Anytime somebody says washed out, my concern is that the TV is at full, and the PS4 is at limited.

Most likely you will notice big improvement. Plus base PS4 supports HDR so you will be able to take advantage of that tech in newer titles.
Doesn't it stretch out and upscale 1080p games? Won't they look more grainy?

What if you had 43-65" 1080p TV? The games would have been stretched to that display size.
Sony TVs are BTW regarded as ones that have best upscalers in the TV bussiness, and this TV is from their 2016 lineup, meaning it has awesome upscaler. Games from base PS4 will look great on X800D/XD80xx.

So, here in Brazil there's this X855C TV. It didn't have HDR support at first, but I saw some people saying it was added later with a firmware update. Does anyone know what US model this is and if it really has proper HDR support or if it's just "HDR"?
I swear the home menu had HDR before?
I checked with Modus, it does not sound like HDR is currently possible to implement in a custom theme, or XMB, etc.
It is all SDR content, without any associated HDR metadata.

Ok, so I followed that link you posted with the spaceship. I am using same settings as you, I am not seeing ghosting at all. I so see blur.
When I increased the speed to 'best for 4K' the images nearly became static and they were quite clear with no discernible blur, too fast for the display to show motion.

I think the 13.2 ms time he's referencing isn't in regards to input lag, but pixel transition speeds (light to dark).
The set has about a 30ms input lag in game mode at HDR/4k. Which is one of the best for this tv size/model/price range.

The problem with the PS4 browser is that it doesn't support 60 fps without judder. I'd have to hook the TV up to my PC/laptop.
If you don't see it, it's okay. This TV at 13.2 ms is one of the faster VA panels, and like I said - I'm cursed with the ability to pick up ghosting/color trails like no other.
Response time is a motion blur thing, I think you're talking about input latency. Input latency is pretty terrible on the 850d with hdr, in the 90 ms range iirc.

I just purchased an X850D as it came with a free PS4 Pro...but didn't research the input lag, it's been patched recently and now 4K+HDR is at ~58ms, but Game Mode still doesn't cover HDR (not like on the X800D...which is odd).
Considering returning the 850D for store credit and see what sales come up on the X800D - even though it's a slight downgrade in size/X1 chip etc, I would rather have good latency for gaming tbh lol.
Ideally, the X850D firmware update that's supposed to be coming out this week introduces a true HDR Game mode...but I could be dreaming; maybe it's not possible since the X800D is a newer TV and it came with it out the box (you would think Sony would implement it ASAP on the X850D/X930D/X940D for xmas).
First world 4K problems right here, at least I have another 10 days to decide regarding store credit with my 14 day return/exchange policy.

i'd be going from a 32" to a 49". my room is quite small and this TV looks decently sized
If it is only for a room/1 person watching, I think the 43" is a bit higher quality panel.
You have to be looking at this set straight on to get a good picture.
But, it is hard to be real estate sometimes and the 49" is 30% larger than the 43".
If you play a lot in dark room, then the 43" has better blacks.

Good to know. The only reason I decided to look into the 49" was because of this price and that the 43" is now harder to find at a better price.
But I'm thinking now that if this TV is going for the same price as the version 6 inches smaller why not? Unless it goes on another sale after I decide to buy it.

For 850D, make sure you do firmware update, it halves HDR response times compared to before the update.

Main va drawback is the bad viewing angle from the side. Better blacks in general.
IPS trends to fare better if you use it in a brightly lit room. Not as good for dark room viewing.

i've been on the verge of just taking the 49" because i can get it for the price of the 43".
but i feel like i'll buy it and they'll cut the price soon after that making me feel regretful.
Let me tell you that I may purchase again in 2017, and not because I regret my purchase.
This technology is advancing at an insane rate. I expect all 2016 models will be at a big discount come April/May. IMO, HDR as a whole will not settle out for at least 3 years, in terms of what the tech can easily achieve, and what they are planning for it.
If you are tight on budget, then wait - this is the best advice I can give you. If you have the 4K/HDR fever like I still do -even after purchase- then what are you waiting for?

i went as far as buying a Ps4 pro, and thought to myself that i'd still see a difference on this 32" HDTV, and I really don't. here's my setup, changed some stuff up. so, does it even look like a 49" will fit there?
if it does maybe i'll just buy that. i honestly think sony makes the best tvs.
took a panorama too but I dunno why it came out with a weird yellow filter.

^If that pink monitor is a 32", then 49" will easily fit. Keep in mind the bezel is like 1cm and that pink bezel is giant there. Just measure about 48.5" diagonally and you'll see. Also if that is a 6+ year old monitor (you said 2010?), you will really like the picture quality and clarity and resolution.

yes that TV has to be at least 6 years old, I bought it in 2011.
well if that's the case...maybe i will just bite the bullet and get the 49". what i am worried about is if i can't reach the side (the yellow table that it's on has a cupboard on the right side), and if the table is not wide enough for the TV stand to sit on (you can kinda make out how wide it is in the panorama)
