Final Fantasy XV SPOILER THREAD

There's the Death spell, which doesn't work on every monster, and some of the stronger monsters take a lot longer to kill through that method. It's notably effective on some of the Flan mobs, as some of the stronger versions of those monsters tend to be immune/resistant to most forms of damage outside of the ring or a specific magic element.

Then there's Holy, which is basically whatever your Defend/Dodge button is. You can hold it, but that pointlessly wastes MP, so ideally you'd just use it right before a monster attacks you, and then Holy damages them as you dodge the attack. So essentially, you can hurt monsters just by dodging while holding the button.

The last skill is called Alterna I believe, used by holding both the Lock-On button and Warp button if I recall correctly, opens up a wormhole or whatever. I think you can only use it when you have your full MP, and gives you a brief window of super armor when using it. I suppose it's an autokill move, but for a lot of the stronger monsters you'll face post-game, they are flat-out immune to it, which is kind of lame, but whatever.

Thanks, makes sense that enemies would be immune to some of those spells.

Summons are immortal gods. They can't be killed.

Empire thought that they killed Shiva but they didn't. It was just a 'form' for Shiva in the Human world. Shiva also appears to have multiple forms as seen in her Summon so killing just one of them doesn't equal to kill all of her.

Summon come to our help because they are immortal. The game using killing them mechanic as a way to show that by killing them, Noctis is granted the ability to summon them. Luna also helps Noctis with gaining the favor of the Summons while two of them don't comply with it, Titan and Leviathan. Ramuh and Shiva are convinced by Luna to help Noctis.

.

Thanks!

Do they continue to exist after the ending ? Or is something that we dont know yet ?

Alright, I finally finished the game at level 45.

Great game. Yeah the story was missing here and there but as some have mentioned before, the journey you take with your buddies walking, chocobos, or regalia and sharing experiences really makes the ending so emotional.
This game really had potential to be the best game. I probably rank it in my top 5 for sure. Noct...though a crown prince didn't really have prince like features regarding his manners. And why the hell was it so hard for him to say they're the Best? Is that translated well from the original script? It seemed kind of off to me.

Also someone mentioned that they should have MADE us get all the weapons before the end. Make it more meaningful and feel like you deserve it after all the hard work. Everything from chapter 10 on felt rushed.

Ardyns theme song was bad ass, probably the best for a villain I've ever heard in a video game.

I picked the group photo they take before sailing for altisia but I laughed thinking about people who can pick Cindy pic.

God damn, if only Ardyn's final boss was long enough to listen to the whole theme. What a godly theme! I had to give it a relisten at work and it is probably one of the best. In my opinion though I feel like if he had a 2nd form the last Somnus bit should have transitioned into that. It would be so epic!

My headcanon had me go and get all Royal Arms before finishing the game.

'Optional fetch content'?

There are high level hunts and dungeons to explore in post-game, not to mention collect the 13 royal weapons. The post-game is not full of 'fetch quests'.

You have half of the royal weapons as optional content with most of them being in the 9 dungeons. That totally bullshit 2nd level dungeons give you rewards, which you don't even have any need for after these dungeons. Hunts and sidequest are listed separately and the hunts are cool, and I loved fucking with the high level hunts, but at the end most of them were nothing special with story in it except for one.

The postgame is not full of fetch quests, yes, but the sidequest required for the trophy - almost all of them are fetch quests. There is even no soul in these quests like with Witcher 3. The NPC don't talk to you directly. They feel neutral and robotic.

Edit: Also people should stop saying that collection the 13 royal arms is sidecontent when it's only half of them, because you have to get half of them through the story.

I just spent two hours doing that shitty Platformer Dungeon only to get outside, jump back into the Car and die, and what was the last save I had? 1 Hour before I even set a foot into said dungeon.

And all that for a fucking Black Hood that helps me dodge shit? … WHAT THE FUCK

Edit: Do I need to get back in there for some other reason? Seriously considering skipping that stupid dungeon.

Well even if the hood is shit, there's a crapton of other useful stuff in there to pick up. But nah if you really don't care, don't bother.

You can get a bunch of oracle coins to help you with getting 4 Ribbons. Also, the hood is pretty helpful in the no item dungeon.

Does anyone have recommendations on the best weapon/accessory combos for each character? I started the post-game stuff last night but my accessory collection is wank. I read that Altissia's Justice Monsters Five cabinets give you legit good shit?

[/I]
Doubt anymore will be added as they are the six gods of the game, making the other 2 summonable would be cool.

THIS.

Give me Ifrit and Bahamut post-game. Can understand for obvious reasons not prior but post-game is a must.

I dont care about the 50 (100 lol) hours of optional MMO fetch content if the Story is such a clusterfuck.

I honestly doubt there are 100 hours of contents in the game. In 40 hours I managed to get the Platinum clearing up most of the sides and hunts, plus some optional dungeons.
From 40 to 100 is a huge step, by playing on Normal I don't know how can you spend so much time in the game. Maybe completing all sides, hunts etc, grants you other 30 or maybe 40 hours of contents, but reaching 100 is way too hard in my opinion.

Also yeah, I prefer a 20 hours game instead of a 100 hours one filled with bland fetch like FFXV is. Take Witcher 3, with DLCs I played it for 180 hours, but at least each sides or contract is unique, with a "plot". In FFXV SE could create an algorythm to generate an infinite amount of hunts and nothing would change. I mean, we have sides like "Give the potion to the hurted dude", "Give the repair kit to the guy" which repeat themself quite a lot.

Any other way to get the weapons from world of ruin's Hammerhead? Are they available somewhere else? I didn't have enough money for them so I only got 1 or 2.

Also, I wanted to see everyone 10 years later, not just the bros and Talcott lol. Where's my badass hunter Iris and Cindy. :(

shits such a waste of time. the black hood is trash and don't even get me started on the genji gloves. worthless, don't bother going back

Pretty sure hunters outpost near the Vesper Pool sell them.

10k JMV machine in Altissia gives Dark Matter Bracelet at 80 chests. Which is one of the best items in the game.

Pitioss gave me enough coins to buy a Ribbon at least.

There are almost 100h in the game I would say. I'm at ~70h and I'm honestly faster than most people out there and I've still got stuff to do (almost level 10 hunt level etc.). Platinum trophy in this game is meaningless as it doesn't include 90% of the post game.

But the bros helped me in the afterlife to defeat Ardyn, didn't they?

That's a very anime-JRPG-ish thing where the "bad guy" is in front of the "good guy" and he can see an illusion of all the people that is supporting him. Even FFXIV used it when you defeated the "final" boss of the ARR arc.

Just hopped in here to say that Chapter 13 is a shit show. What the fuck were they thinking with that hot garbage of a chapter? I've still got a ways to go in it. I'm about 2 hours in and I really need motivation to finish it.

Also, what the fuck happened with Ravus?

That's what I thought it was at first, but if you look closely, you can see Ardyn turn his head to look at the bros when they appear, so it would definitely seem that they're actually there. Additionally, Regis and Luna appear the same way... so I'm inclined to believe they did actually die.

And yet here we live in this crazy, upside-down world where many people, including myself and others on this board, have done it or are close to doing it.

Hard mode needs to be added.

Regis should realistically be one of the 13 phantoms.

Luna is already gone for long and shouldn't be in the crystal. Its what happened in Altissia regarding Luna and Ardyn's arm. I think these are memories, Noctis also held on to them when fatally stabbed by the phantoms. Ardyn sees them, or feels them. But they're also gone right away.

And who lives to tell the story? I think the empty refurbished, posthumous throne is real.

We are really stretching the definition of "content" here. There is a decent amount of worthwhile content that adds to the world and game while there is also a ton of worthless padding fetch quest garbage "content" we rake other games over the coals for.

"100s of hours" is pushing it. Especially when the game literally gives you the tools to skip the bullshit leveling (experi-magic) and makes some of the best items in the game (and spells, Flare/Freeze/and forgot the name for Thunder) available through a piss easy mini game. If you choose not to use said tools? Sure, I guess you could grind for over a 100 hours...but why wouldn't you use your tools? =P

That is still content, regardless of how you perceive the quality of it, though.

Is there anyway to easily farm AP?

Eh, you get the Shield of the Just Royal Arm, and use the Beast Whistle to summon and kill those Sabertusk monsters with Warp-Strikes over and over again. There's other monsters that are easy to kill, but I forget their names, so you'd have to look it up.

So what was up with the Demon Wall-esque monster in the World of Ruin near Gauldin Quay? You can't even go back to kill it and it's level 80+.

Can we use Noctis' suit (not the Kingsglaive attire) in the final game? The same one from his CG render?

It's not an actual selectable costume on its own without the cape. The base model still appears in cutscenes and when camping, so maybe it'll be patched in.
