Saw the movie. Fucking great. Went looking for anything k-2so related and ordered this: ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Yo I'm fine discussing with this you but you need to stop with the Ad Homs.
Then stop with the Ad Homs.
I know this, the movie doesn't though.
If the movie did say this in some small way it would be a much better movie for it. That's all I'm saying
Hey...
I wonder if that contain the entire film with original effects and everything?
Because if it does... that could mean what I think it means (theatrical versions remastered and released someday).
Also, that one guy totally calls Mon Mothma "Mom" (yeah, i know, he said Ma'am...)
A hallmark of Star Wars is that back story is hinted at but as an audience we are more or less dripped into the middle of a story be it the actual story or characters. Did we need to know why Biggs joined the rebellion? why did Obi Wan fight in the clone wars? Why did Darth Vader kill Anakin?Backstory to mean just means I know about this character, where they came from and why. This can be a flashback, a character reading out their past actions from a dossier, someone mentioning having met them before and what happened, or another character informing them about the person in question.
Backstory again is just one part, the lack of character growth and the Zero to flimsy motivations for others and a lack of a sense of camaraderie amongst everyone too.
I can agree with this. Fury Road does just the right amount of everything.
People forgot Vader had a costume change between movies I think.
I personally fought it was fine.
He worked for them under a friendly consenting pretended at some point then there must've been some sort of disagreement and he fled into hiding. Then krennic finds him. Cue movie.
There was definitely enough for me to get a sense.
Personally he even felt some of the exposition in the hologram was a bit on the nose.

Stop discriminating against British accents saying Ma'am. I got enough of this with the recent bond movies.

Came back watching 10am show. I was literally exhausted after watching it (and having a big meal afterwards), I fell a sleep and just woke up.
Loved the movie. 1st part was okay. I can definitely see why others would mention that it doesn't work or what not... but after seeing the ending, it just felt a bit pointless to dig into each characters stories.
I do have an issue with K2 though. I loved the droid, but seeing that droid hitting, killing other human beings - it rather made me uncomfortable. Looks like Disney's droids have much higher sense of self id, such as chopper and K2. R2, of course was feisty one, but I don't remember R2 shooting a blaster to kill another human being.
Also loved every bit of cameos in the movie, as much as some were pointless - such as Mos Eisley duo, and R2/3PO scene - but seeing all of them, in bits and all, were still very nice and kept me aware for the duration of the film.
Darth Vader did sound a bit older, but still it's that commanding voice of JEJ, which I loved - I would not have any other way. Costume, I noticed that gap around the neck but didn't bother me too much either. Vader-castle seemed a bit overly done, but well, who knows what goes inside of Vader's mind, especially choosing to live in Mustafar, where he lost his limbs and wife! LOL.
But the final scene... Vader wrecking havoc, I literally wept with nerdgasm, and in the end of the movie during credit, I had to hide the fact that I had tears in my eyes for reasons that I do not know.
One thing I don't get though... is why Organa and Mon Mothma are looking for Obi-Wan's help though. Leia was in desperate situation when she reached out - not sure going to Tatooine was her original intention - I thought she was going to Alderan or Yavin after getting that plan, and was pursued by Vader, and had to evac at Tatooine - maybe she knew Obi-wan was at Tatooine from Organa? Was she supposed to "pick-up" Obi-wan after retreiving the plan from Rogue One on the way back? Seems like too much risk to take for one person.
From my point of view, Organa and Mon Mothma was looking for help to destroy the Death Star from Obi-Wan. Delivery of the plan, I thought, was Leia's part, and reaching out to Obi-Wan was to come 'after' delivering the plan to rebel base.... and the purpose of reaching out, somehow got missed...
I can understand someone feeling the exposition was on the nose. Personally I think the Hologram was fine but it should have been a bit more emotional and had Galen breakdown talking about how originally he thought he was doing something good. A bit more emotion there fleshing out Galen as someone who has been for 10 years living a life doing something he hates. Would have been nice.
I'm not saying you should hate the movie, I still really like this and considering someone posted that K-2 has a Lego figure I might buy it. But It's a flawed movie with a lot of things that make me think "couldn't you have taken the little bit of effort to do this?" Enough of those happened that I can' say it's the most amazing Star Wars movie or the equal of Empire.
This though does bother me. When people think a movie doesn't need goo characterization to be a good movie. You're basically telling me a movie doesn't need good to be a good movie.
In answer to your questions, none of those are important because Biggs isn't really a character, Obi-Wan fighting in the Clones Wars is already backstory, and Darth Vader killing Anakin is something we hope to learn.
Things like Bodhi's motivation is important because he's what basically starts everything in the movie. Things like why Chirrut and friend go with are important because they're around for more than half the movie and have a lot of scenes but we get nothing about them or why they're going.
Also, that one guy totally calls Mon Mothma "Mom" (yeah, i know, he said Ma'am...)
It annoyed me and it made the deaths later at the end feel really meh but even I didn't hate the movie. Still a good movie, but it's just missed opportunities to be great. I was hoping for, like one person mentioned, a Dirty Dozen in Space, a ragtag group banding together for a common goal and bonding along the way while discovering courage in themselves only to heroically at the end make the Ultimate Sacrifice to complete the mission. I got...some of that I guess and it was enough to like it but it certainly didn't scratch that "itch".Nah I'm just saying it was good enough for me.
Could've been fleshed out more, sure. It still passed a critical minimum for me though.
Just got home from my 2nd viewing.
As always, some of the character's arcs and motivations work ever so slightly better when you've got a rough idea of where things are going and what's happening, with regards to the big picture.
I feel that a moment, that is certainly under-emphasised in the movie is when Saw asks if Jyn can really just move away from all this. When she tells him that she considers her job - 'introducing' the Alliance to Saw - to be done, he says. "The world is coming undone. Imperial flags reign across the galaxy.", to which she says "It doesn't matter if you don't look up"
At least, i myself missed that moment of her displaying a total 'i just wanna get by, fuck that pointless Rebellion' sentiment.
Also, i'm not 100% sure, but i think i detected a Wilhelm scream - and no, not when Jyn pulls down the Storm trooper by his leg on Eadu, but when someone shoots a Storm trooper with a Bazooka on Scarif.
Also, i caught the Chopper and Ghost (multiple) cameos. I don't know why they don't at least embrace the ghost a bit more. It's literally always just visible at the edge of the frame.
And while Vader's castle is a super neat concept, Krennic's Audience with vader looks so offensively green-screened, it's not even funny. - we're almost talking prequel levels here.
I really enjoyed the "spot the reshoots" game - you can really tell, whenever the dialogue sounds a tad disjointed, or the lighting is different.
I'm still not a huge fan of the convoluted "to be able to transmit the plans, we need to blow up the shields, which we need to tell the Rebels about, but to be able to do that we need to connect the Imperial craft to a transmission tower by wire, while literally flipping a "master switch" at an entirely different location"
Shouldn't the Rebels have known that blowing the shield up would have been needed to extract Rogue One anyways. Also, they would've certainly been aware that the shield also blocked communications to the surface.
Also, that one guy totally calls Mon Mothma "Mom" (yeah, i know, he said Ma'am...)
He says Mon, not Mom.

Are you referring to the droids being harmful to humans being uncomfortable on a sort of "Asimov's laws of robotics" level?
Lest we forget the prequels were ALL ABOUT droids killing people. Trade federation, battle droids, etc
Regarding obi wan. That's just pure retcon. On its own in ANH, you have to assume that she stole the plans and since being pursued had to ditch them and obiwan was nearby. Or something.
Princess Leia Organa: [in a hologram message] General Kenobi. Years ago, you served my father in the Clone Wars. Now he begs you to help him in his struggle against the Empire. I regret that I am unable to present my father's request to you in person, but my ship has fallen under attack and I'm afraid my mission to bring you to Alderaan has failed. I have placed information vital to the survival of the Rebellion into the memory systems of this R2 unit. My father will know how to retrieve it. You must see this droid safely delivered to him on Alderaan. This is our most desperate hour. Help me, Obi-Wan Kenobi. You're my only hope. [looks to the side quickly, then crouches to end the message]
Also, hopefully everyone's cries about "character background" will be heard and we get a Cirrut & Baze movie in 2020.
So what's the best way to get the original trilogy now?
No, he said "Mum"
It's a britishism equivalent to "Ma'am." Used in addressing female superiors.
Serious? Mum is what those in Britain (as well as Australia) call their mothers instead of mom.
No, I've seen A New Hope way more than any other SW film. The red lenses were overdone. You could see the guy's face behind them.
Thought this was the best one since ESB. VIII has a lot to live up to, and VII's issues are more prominent now, mainly the editing and writing issues that felt like the movie was just trying to connect threads, whereas this one being a prequel actually managed to feel like it was its own fleshed out story.
The plot is thin, but it's Star Wars, what's great is that doesn't prevent it from being fun and having its emotional moments.
It went very fast, I still don't get how they got in that Imperial transport ship, but I don't care, I enjoyed it to and through and there's nothing I'd really cut out, unlike VII that could have benefited from some serious rewriting (Rancar scene, Maz Castle).
Still hope they never make that dumb Obi Wan movie. Vader's voice was a little disappointing, something was off. CG Cushing and Leia were not too disturbing, but still not quite right.
My biggest nitpick is probably the entire rebel fleet turning up 'just because' and then in epIV they never mention that at all. That feels disconnected.
Yes. Watch enough British TV procedurals and you hear it all the damn time. In the Craig Bond movies, for example, M is often referred to as "mum" (though probably captioned as ma'am if you were to look)
The Admiral of the fleet was the one pushing to fight the entire time, Rogue One gave him reason enough to attack. My biggest nitpick is probably the entire rebel fleet turning up 'just because' and then in epIV they never mention that at all. That feels disconnected.
Personally, I prefer the red eyed look to the all black one anyway.
Not that Vader looks any less ridiculous in either.
You know, their pretty decent movies and all, but I never understood why Star Wars became the iconic pinnacle of sci-fi cinema, worshiped from every facet. I think it's because I just grew up with all art that was already influenced by star wars, so I've seen everything they've done, done better, so when I finally did see Star Wars, everything they did came off as done over, if not cliche. I just have to believe I'd have had to have been there, in 1970, when it took the world by storm.
But stuff like seeing Vader as a threatening look is just one thing I'll never wrap my mind around. I mean, sure he's a strong badass, but he looks nothing short of silly, especially the helmet. How he became THE iconic villain in terms of visuals, I'll just never get.
They stole it on Edou.
Yeah but they crashes, I blinked, and then were inside it.
No, he said "Mum"
It's a britishism equivalent to "Ma'am." Used in addressing female superiors.
What the fuck are you talking about lmao
you sure it's really "mum", and not simply the person having a thick british accent, thereby turning Ma'am into "muh'um", which in turn sounds like "mum" (just like "ma'am" sounds like 'mam')
according to some quick googling, whenever someone supposedly says "mum" in James Bond, the subtitles say "ma'am"
Nah, saw the prequels first as a kid and later watched the OT and was fucking blown away. I suddenly realized why the prequels were just action-shlock, as I kid I loved AoTC because of all the Jedi's that show up at the end. But, after the OT I automatically knew that ESB was the greatest thing ever, the movie where nothing really happens and there is only one saber fight at the end. And, Vader still gives me goosebumps to this day. Dude just looks menacing as fuck.
So...the Vader Valet.
Who is he/what is he? Is there anything in SW lore or the EU that I'm forgetting that relates to that role? He wasn't dressed like anything we've seen serving Vader/the Emperor before. Some sort of Sith acolyte in training?
