I just rewatched the trailer, among some of the missing scenes and dialogue, I just noticed that forest whitaker is completely bald in the trailer and in the movie he has a full head of hair. Wonder what that's all about lol

He's bald in his first scene, but we only see him like that for maybe 15 seconds.

If the structural weakness for the Death Star was an intentional design by the creator, what is the excuse for the same weakness in the Second Death Star? Did they have like, no real engineers in the Empire?

I give Death Star II a pass because it's bigger, incomplete, and they had to go at the reactor directly.

I still believe Kyle Katarn was the one and only behind the Death Star plan leakage. EU Purge be damned.
Did it all by himself, relatively unscathed like the pimp that he is.

I think that has more to do with the fact that during the filming of the 'No I am your father scene' they came up with it on that day. It wasn't pre planned.

I'm almost certain it was well and truly pre-planned, in that it had been decided at some point between ANH and ESB, but that the cast/production had been given different scripts so as to prevent spoiler leaks. Then, on the day, the actual twist was revealed to a select few including Mark Hamill. But the twist itself had been in for a year or so prior.

There was no exhaust port. They flew into a hole that was there because this thing was still in construction while beeing protected by a shild generator on a planet.

I think the excuse there is that the DS2 wasn't complete and was only put in the position it was to get destroyed was because Palpatine sabotaged it at numerous points in an insane plan to lure the rebels out.

I guess the point of contention is now with the reactor having the same weakness to concussive blasts, but we have the u finished excuse still.

Clone Wars is on netflix now. More people should watch it. At least those that actually care to keep up with Star Wars. Imho.
Yeah it's actually surprisingly good
Because he's a Sith.

They're sadomasochists.

No, the twist was thought up quite a while prior to the shooting of that scene.
I remember hearing something that said otherwise, something about the shock being real because no one knew about it until that day.

Ah okay. I guess that kinda makes sense. One was a completed product with an obscure weakpoint. The other was just wide open for them to fly into to blow up whatever matters?

The actors didn't know until just before it was shot, but the concept of Vader being Luke's father was arrived at in early 1978 or somewhere around there.

They didn't just come up with it on the day.

Can anyone be kind enough to post all the references this movie makes to the prequels? I'm interested in hearing about the ones I missed.

Also, the way they handled the rebels motivations and tactics was a highlight to me. Made a lot of connections to real world 'freedom fighting' groups. I was hoping they would show the bleakness of the rebel alliance by maybe showing a few of them suicide bomb. I know that's a little intense for disney but the tone throughout the movie almost had me feeling like something like that was gonna happen. Would give justification or rhetoric the Imperials could use against them...etc.

Yeah. The emporer just underestimated the rebels/ over estimated the imperial fleet.
To be fair, the was almost right.

Gotta be honest, I keep trying to get into it but the first two episodes keep turning me off. Dooku being boring, Grievous being Grievous, Yoda doing his dance routine, attempts at jokes through droids... I know that it gets better but it feels very prequel-y in setting but also in quality.

I only located two. The use of actor Jimmy Smits as Bail Organa, and the use of Mustafar as the home to Vader's castle.

I don't know if there are more.

The first two seasons are the weakest but then once Season 3 begins it hits a really good stride that runs (mostly) up to Season 6.

A good guide to what to watch for S1 and S2. There are guides for S3 to S5 but honestly I think those are pretty much worth watching outside maybe the droid episodes. Anything that focuses mainly on the clones are usually the highlights.

The show is really good at showing Anakins fall to the dark side and really enhances watching Rebels if you had watched TCW beforehand.

(I will say if you do decide to watch it, do watch the Ryloth episodes in Season 1. Because it really comes back around in Rebels.)

Also Saw Garrena is introduced in TCW. I believe Season 4 or 5.

Watching it now, and it gets much better. First half of the first season is pretty boring and awkwardly paced, but they get into some much more interesting stuff afterwards. I'm only halfway through Season 2 and it's a far better show.

I liked how they brought back Genevieve O'Reilly to play Mon Mothma considering they cut most of her scenes in III (or all of them? I can't remember). She was good.

-Smits and O'Reilly as Organa and Mothma
-Saw Gerrera
-Flashback to Krennic and Galen on Coruscant
-Vader on Mustafar
-Juggernaut tank on Wobani
-Kyber crystals (been around for a while but TCW really solidified their modern importance send their tie to the Death Star)
-not in the movie, but according to the visual dictionary Cassian is from a separatist family

man the ending really does get me hyped for... some good old lightsaber duels between legit mofos, and not just unskilled weenies like in eps 7.

Hope everyone gets some Rocky montage going in eps 8.

I thought that Baze was gonna turn out to be a Mandalorian at some point. When their ship was crashing I thought I saw a red Mandalorian helmet roll out.

That's quite an unpopular opinion.

And this is coming from someone who loves all 3 prequels, so I know a thing or two about unpopular opinions around here. :v

Maybe it's because I never got past Season 3. Still, it was absolutely unbearable for me, especially Ahsoka.

And I don't see as much love for TCW at all away from GAF.

So, before knowing anything about Rogue One. I thought I read that it was supposed to be a series that would alternate between the years that the main episodes aren't out.

Obviously since that's out the bag, I assume they'll still be doing that with other spin-offs like the young Han Solo movie that's coming out?

I think the art style turns a lot of people off to it initially but I've never heard someone watch a few episodes and go "I don't like it." Star Wars seems to have stayed surprisingly consistent on the quality of its TV shows.

See you missed out on all the character development Ashoka gets. By the end of the show she's honest one of the best things in it. He reappearence in Rebels was amazing because of that.

Honestly the animation work in the later seasons is quite jaw dropping for being a TV show.

Anthology series, every other movie is going to be a non mainline film. Rogue One was first, Han Solo is next, nobody knows what comes after.

I don't think I could get over the idea of Anakin having an apprentice. It just doesn't fit in believably for me, in between AOTC and ROTS. Not that Anakin's character development was believable in ROTS.

Fortunately though we're at a golden age for Star Wars now and Rogue One is a million times better than the prequels or TCW.

Really? Ahsoka ended up becoming one of my favorite characters in the series. I'd definitely recommend looking into the series post Season 3. It gets really good and churns out great episode after episode.

I really, REALLY dislike the art style.

But the plots and direction is quite great.

I've gotta say I really didn't like the first two seasons I saw of the clone wars. I wanted to but just couldn't get into it. Does it get better? Just seemed like there was a lot of doubling down on what made the prequels bad. Though I did enjoy some episodes.

If the Clone Wars show ever gets good, I never got to that part. It's a Saturday morning show for kiddos for at least a dozen hours, I forget when I gave up.

Doesn't help that the movie that kicks it off has a lot of farting baby jokes.

Ah very cool!

Now I'm really curious to what they'll do after Han Solo.

Although, that'd be after the end of episode 9 so maybe they'll start a new series or continue with young Solo if that's a huge hit.

It gets better, both in terms of story and art.

Season 3 on is pretty great. Although shorter, Season 6 or the 'Lost Episodes' as I believe they're technically called are also really good and provide a lot of really great insight into the overall Star Wars universe. It really sucks that the show was cancelled, the stuff they said they wanted to do in the rest of Season 6 and beyond sounded really amazing.

What Saturday morning show for kiddos has a character enter a room, throw his light saber and decapitate everyone in there?
