Yes, it's NOCTIS, track 62.Is the song that plays on the main menu after you beat the game on the soundtrack? I feel like I must have missed it somewhere.
Indeed it is - thank you very much!Yes, it's NOCTIS, track 62.
Indeed it is - thank you very much!
It's a great one.
Did anyone here notice that the red moon is still in the game?
We'd already seen it through a glitch in Episode Duscae as well as in an old trailer, but the final game has a small and kind of disappointing glimpse of it too:
It's right over Insomnia in the loading screen after the final camp.
It's probably a screenshot from an earlier build of the game that still had the red moon but had to be heavily photoshopped to fit the final build's World of Ruin atmosphere, and of course to paste that camping site in.
That may also mean this was the early World of Ruin. If so, I think they made a good decision changing it into the pitch black one we have now.![]()
So you've basically talked yourself out of it already. I don't understand posts like this, especially with the wealth of great impressions here.So it seems like a lot of people are coming off of finishing the game with positive feelings?
Still can't decide whether I want to give the game a go. I don't have much patience for games these days so I'd rather not invest hours into a game I end up not enjoying.
I like the idea that some of the Astrals are basically just big jerks, lol.
Ifrit totally park-ouring Bahamut's attacks like a boss was fantastic, hahaha. Also Shiva basically one hit killing him and also Aldyn, if only the latter wasn't an immortal--it's nice to see her getting a massive power boost compared to her usual FF incarnations.
TV Tropes said that it is suggested that Ifrit may have a hand in creating the Starscourge; where does the game give information about this?
FUCK this story mayne, just beat the game
I legit did not know who the fuck ardyn is and why he was doing the things he was doing, did the game even explain this? Can someone explain to me?
And how were noctis and luna in love if they only talked during the leviathin battle and havent seen each other in 10 years?
And did noct die or not?
Story is a 5/10

Its explained in those books with the legends, as well as in the "exposition chapter" that is 13. I didn't get it either, but some people out there really like to make things up to make things fit, even if the game doesn't tell you about it. There is a lot of setup that the game just doesn't do.
except all the stuff that zeus was complaining about IS in fact in the game.

*Ardyn was of Royal blood. He was next in line for the throne. His name was Ardyn Lucis Caelum, of the Lucian bloodline.
*He had powers to heal the people affected by the Starscourge parasite. Much like the Oracle of modern times (Luna).
*In order to save the people of the world, Ardyn absorbed the Daemons into himself. He healed everyone and saved the world in ancient times.
*However, the Crystal and the gods (Who decide who becomes King), deemed Ardyn to be unfit for the throne due to his soul being stained/corrupted.
*A man named Izunia (Or with surname Izunia) shit-talked about Ardyn and turned him into a pariah. Apparently he began a campaign against Ardyn, making people fear and hate him.
*The Crystal and the gods choose this Izunia guy as the new King instead. Izunia adopted the "Lucis Caelum" surname. This is Noctis' ancestor. Noctis is actually an Izunia, not a "real" Lucis Caelum.
*Ardyn was pissed. After everything he had done to protect the world and heal the people, the gods and the Crystal had turned against him. And Izunia (Now Lucis Caelum) had made the people hate him too.
*Ardyn's plan was to fuck up the world. Fuck up or kill the gods, shatter the Crystal and end the "fake" Lucis Caelum line.
I think the video that i linked talks in good depth my problem with the story. Things happen with no to little setup. Very important moments in the game are left outside of the game and just briefly mentioned. There is no build up when it matters the most, and having a dump of context to explain everything instead of using narrative is a big letdown.
Im not saying his questions don't have any answers. But its pretty easy to understand how someone would miss it based on the games narrative structure, disjointed chapters and weird exposition. I think the base of the story is neat. I do think it would've been better if it was more of a local story about the bros, rather than a ultimate boss guy that wants revenge and wants to add chaos to the world. Kinda cliche... specially when the story is presented as its all about the bros.

-_-
I've seen the video, and i share its point of view. Its a wonderful explanation of why things fall flat. BUT, that doesn't mean people are making stuff up, nor does it excuse Zeus' apparent lack of paying basic attention.
I'm not saying Luna and Noct's relationship is great or well handled, i'm saying that it makes sense from what was shown to us.
I think Ardyn was one of the moments in this story that had a good setup and pay off. Say what you want about cliche revenge blah blah blah, but we see him from the start and we take note that he's fucking with us. Sure the fall of Nifilhim is poorly executed, but Ardyn as a character and as a backstory isn't. (Not that I wouldn't take a flash back or something).
It just feels to me that Zeus just didn't bother to give even a little of a shit, because all his complaints are basically minor in the scheme of things. Since, you know, they are nothing complaints.
If he was complaining about the fall of nif, or tenebrae, or luna's death, or whatever I'd agree. But what he's complaining about is nothing.
Booooy you ain't seen nuthin' yetMe, as I was enjoying Chapter 9 before I initiated the main quest: wow, this is incredible, I love this game even with its flaws.
Me, after completing Chapter 9's main story: I want to flush this game down the toilet.
How could they think this game was ready to ship.... how???
How could they think the events of Chapter 9 make sense?
How could they think Luna having 3 seconds of screen time was a good idea?
How could they think this Leviathan "fight"/"set piece" isn't one of the most pathetic and ugly gameplay segments in a game?
And I'm sick and tired of hearing vital plot points through newspapers and radios, tired of vital info being shown through loading screens, tired of "several days later..." and "several weeks later...".
Also, that CG cutscene was a fucking tease. There needed to be way more. Also, aside from the entire Leviathan fight being ugly as sin (and boring), the scene between Titan and Levithan was cringe-inducing from how ugly it was. It's ok to use CG, Tabata. It's ok.
I could go on.
Wow. Is all I have to say to this game, and Square Enix. Wow.

Btw... whatever happened to the ruler of Nifl? i feel like it might've been mentioned in the radio station. But all of a sudden i remembered him and it felt lost in space.

You know that demon thing that you run away from and then eventually fight in chapter 13? Yeah, that was him.
The Emperor? You fight and kill him as a Daemon in Niflheim. Remember that creepy, devil-like monster that stalks you during the maze and you have to run from him until you finally kill him alongside with your friends?
Yeah, that's him. The game hints at his identity when you find the Emperor's clothing in his throne. But no sign of his body. Then when you kill the Daemon he says how he wanted the Ring to expand Niflheim's reign to the entire world.
Now THIS is an issue that I understand people complaining about. While the game makes it clear that this Daemon IS the Emperor, we never get to see him transforming. This NEEDS to be expanded upon in the new cutscenes.
NO WAY! the vampire looking thing that chases you around?
I do remember the white clothing on the chair to the chamber where you turn off the device that nullify s nocts powers. What gives this away? Should i have played the game with subtitles? i remember some monsters talk to you, even regular mobs. Never really thought i was meant to understand them. Thats crazy.
Also.. i thought Luna touching Ardyn had something to do in the end. Making him human perhaps? at least thats what i understood.
I'll reply to each of those sentements in order:
- Not sure what you mean by doesn't make sense? Noctis goes to altissia to gain leviathan's blessing. Luna must communion with Leviathan for that to happen. Before that must be done, Noct visits the secretary of defence of Accordo to initiate citizen relocation. Leviathan is summoned, she hates people. Destruction ensues. Noctis fights levi, can't deal. Ardyn stabs Luna because he really doesn't need her anymore. Luna gives Noct super saiyan powers (lol). Noctis fucks Leviathan up. Luna dies. Its pretty straight forward :S
- Apparently luna has about 45 minutes of total screen time. Mind you, a good chunk of that is after she dies, but regardless. She REALLY could have used MANY more scenes prior to chapter 9.
- Not sure what you mean by this. Its janky as hell, sure, but its fairly pretty and a visual's well done setpiece. I would have liked it to be more involved, sure, but ugly isn't the word I'd use.
- Sure I can understand people not liking plot-through-radio. Millage may vary on that one though.
You know that demon thing that you run away from and then eventually fight in chapter 13? Yeah, that was him.
It feels like I am a very unique snowflake in that I actually like the portrayal of the love story between Noct and Luna, lol. It was so innocently sweet and pure, and plenty straightforward too, in that these two love each other and that's it.
I just wish we have more Luna scenes.
Yeah, that's him.
It was so lame. I mean, it's not very cryptic, the game makes it clear it's him with the dialogue alone. But yeah, this needed a cutscene or two... I'm hoping this is one of the scenes they are planning on fixing.
The Daemon keeps murmuring about wanting the Ring of the Lucii, and how Niflheim was to take over the world with such power, and the Crystal.
Why would the secretary be okay with her city being potentially destroyed? It doesn't make sense. Why does it have to be Altissia? Can't it just be near any body of water? And some "evacuation"... literally the second after Luna finishes her speech the empire draws into Accordo and Luna summons Leviathan. Which doesn't make sense... at all. And the city seems to be completely destroyed during the Leviathan fight but everything seems fine afterwards? lol. And how did Luna drown? How did Noctis somehow survive?
I wouldn't call the Leviathan fight "pretty" at all, really. It's way, way, way, way, way, way too unpolished for me to call it "pretty." And the water Leviathan things were really ugly. I personally would use the word ugly. The whole thing was an eyesore once the actual battle began.
I love Luna. I love her design and her character. But lollllllllll at the amount of screen time she has. I teared up during the CG cutscene for 3 reasons:
1. The beauty of it
2. The tragic nature of the relationship between Noctis and Luna
3. The tragic nature of this game and Luna specifically (for this instance)
Also, I thought the scene's sound mixing was pretty poor.
Thanks for explainingdid you like... not pay attention throughout any of it or something? To answer every one of your questions.
- Ardyn: millenia ago he was a man of royal blood who wanted to save people from the starscourge by bringing it into his own soul. His soul got tainted and became immortal because of this and the gods abandoned him. The king at the time marked him as a monster and erased him from history. Ardyn's goal is the destroy the gods and the royal bloodline and the crystal as all of them screwed him over.
This is explained in chapter 13 when noct is getting sucked into the crystal and also a lore dump from bahamut.
- Noctis and Luna knew each other 13 years ago and have been keeping a secret journal to communicate with each other through Umbra. Luna being an Oracle and whose country is under Niflhim control, can not see Noctis anymore, and Noctis who is from Insomnia (which was walled off from the rest of the world many years ago) has no opportunity to go out into the world yet. So they can not see each other and so share their relationship and feeling through the Journal.
This is shown many times
- Noctis does in fact die. He has to die. Its his destiny to die. His death means the destruction of the starscourge. What you see in the end is Luna and Noct at peace in the afterlife.
Next time, learn context clues. The story has huge narrative flaws, but the ones you mentioned aren't them. 5/10 post

I remember murmuring from it. But nothing that i could understand. Again, was this in subtitles? or i just completely missed the dialogue in it.
I mean, now that you guys mentioned it it makes sense. But it really went straight over my head. lol.

Yep, you can read the Daemon's dialogue in subtitles if you wish.
And which console are you playing on? Because I had no issue with the "aqua-mini-leviathans" and I thought the actual leviathan fight was quite pretty.
Something has been bothering me. Doesn't the empire kill Titan and Leviathan? How can you summon them if they're dead?
The Empire claims to have killed them (Because that makes them seem even more powerful and dominant to the general public, you can even see that they brag about it on the radio).
Gods cannot be killed by humans.
Something has been bothering me. Doesn't the empire kill Titan and Leviathan? How can you summon them if they're dead?
Another question, it was Ardyn who killed Regis then? What happened to the old guy whl Ravus and Ardyn were talking to earlier in the game?

They 'killed' Shiva too but she has no issue one-shotting Aldyn and Ifrit, lol.

So who is the giant looking godess shiva like that you see from the train? i thought it was crazy that Shiva was claimed to be dead. I actually bought the story. I guess it makes sense how they would use the news to their advantage.
Also, on top of the quarry where the first dungeon is there is a metal structure with the resemblance of an iron giant. With a mask and an arm. What is that all about?
That is Shiva's corpse.
Note how Gentiana just appears and disappears on a whim. She's a spirit at that point.
The fight against Leviathan is one of the most impressive moments I've seen in the current generation, but anyways.
Regarding the first part of your post:
1) The leader of Accordo is okay with the city being damaged because it potentially means Noctis will gain enough power to defeat the Empire. What she cannot tolerate is the citizens being harmed. The city can be repaired, but lives cannot be recovered.
2) It has to be Altissia because Leviathan rests on Altissian waters. Not outside. Leviathan is a goddess worshipped in Accordo.
3) The "second Luna finishes her speech"? Huh? The game makes it clear that some time passes between the speech and the ritual.
4) Part of the city was destroyed. The rest was underwater until Leviathan was calmed. Then the waters subsidies.
Yep, you can read the Daemon's dialogue in subtitles if you wish.

It depends, since the game doesn't explain.
You can either believe that's Shiva's real corpse, or you can, as I do, believe that it is actually a decoy Shiva left to make the Empire believe they killed her.
After all, Gentiana has been Luna's servant since she was a little kid. So, at what point did the Empire "kill" Shiva?
I stand for my belief that the Empire killed no gods.
Then why is it all snowy and cold after Shiva's "death"? If she likes humans why would she make the weather all screwyIt depends, since the game doesn't explain.

So that is why they keep referring to her in the photos? thats kind of cool. Wish they could've shown a cool cutscene of the fall of Shiva tho.
