Sony X800D well - reviewed, 4k+HDR TV with low input lag

444 won't work for HDR. Other than that, it's fine.

For PC, 444, For games, you can try 10-bit 422 w or w/o HDR.

Oh shit lol, didn't realize that about the HDR thing. Cheers!

Edit - I can screen cast just fine, but the photo sharing plus app just doesn't work for me. When I try to connect to the tv wifi it fails, so the IP that you're supposed to visit won't work either. The Bravia signal goes from full to zero as it tries to connect, then back to full again.

Maybe I'll test it later with other phones.

I haven't had to time to play xv either to test my HDR settings.

Getting a PS4 pro in next few days, and have about 800$ to spare for TV, would you recommend getting 49-inch version of this TV or is there something better for gaming and Netflix for that amount?

I have this TV but the KS8000 which everyone raves about is 950. If you can shell out the extra 150 for that TV, that would be the better option at 49".

I would agree. I have the 43" due to space considerations (dual monitor).

I would grab the Samsung 8000 if you can. With the Super Bowl coming, I would wait till then when the prices drop quite a bit. I prefer a larger screen over a 43inch. Can't really go wrong with the Sony or Samsung.

What model do you have that it doesn't have slow down? I want the 930D and if it has any lag on their I honestly might just look elsewhere. I don't want to spend that much money if it has a janky interface. :(

Mine is a 2015 1st generation Android TV. The TV is fine itself, just the smart tv features are quite slow.

I can't see one of their flagship TV's being slow with the Android TV. My X800D is perfectly fine. For gaming, it seems the lag is not that great.

I am using the 49" X800D. It's by no means lightning fast but it doesn't run like shit either. I feel good using the apps. I'm not sure how android games like FFIX would run on it. They are available to buy.

Quick question, using a 970 and win 10.

Say a right click on the desktop, file, etc to bring up the context menu, it'll blink, sometimes part of it, sometimes the whole menu.
Now if I open a folder, the window itself is fine. If I open two folders, the blue "file" area on the top left blinks as well, in both windows.I can replicate both of these things every time.

I suppose this is just a windows thing, as I do not get any other graphical issues anywhere else. Anyone else have the same thing?

And I'm holding off from upgrading GPU drivers because nvidia has been fucking up for the past year+ and the recent drivers have been terrible.

I know there is an issue with Win 10. It has been discussed here recently. I am a Mac user so I don't recall all the details. Search this thread you should find some info and how to fix it.

I'm finding researching TV's really confusing

Are these two:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01IF521AI/

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01IF52216/

Part of the X800D range? (I'm in the UK so the code will be different I think)

If so, what is the difference between those two, and are they one of the better choices for a gaming TV for someone with a £600-£650 budget?

OP has the details,

"The EUROPEAN labeling of this TV is : EU XD80xx (the xx value changes depending on tv color, remote type etc., non-important things)"

Yeah, but I was more curious over which of the two models I linked was the better choice, or indeed what the difference between them is

I'm getting a bit of a weird annoyance with my XD80 49 inch. When I watch Netflix or use other apps, it doesn't happen but when using my PS4 it happens all the time.

I'll be busy playing a game or watching a Blu Ray and the input information in the black bar at the top of the screen will randomly appear, showing HDMI 2 and the resolution, etc. With no input from me. Sometimes the sound will actually cut out for 2-3 seconds as well.

Any ideas what could be causing it? It's very distracting when it happens and also inadvertently killed me during a Bloodborne boss fight when I couldn't see my HP anymore, which isn't exactly ideal.

Yeah, but I was more curious over which of the two models I linked was the better choice, or indeed what the difference between them is

Silver or black bezels is the difference.

As to the speed of Android TV, this model has updated/upgraded cpu compared to older 2016 models.

I've got the 8077 Silver model and it looks great mounted up.

Nice! Is that the 49 inch version? How do you find it with games?

Yes 49 inch, in terms of games input lag in minimal (previously had an LG 850V) and the HDR looks good in games too, best ones really are R&C and also Elder Scrolls. But really the best HDR example I've seen on the set was the Grand Tour show on Amazon Prime. 4K/HDR in the desert and driving and night, those headlights just shone through the screen.

Currys had it at £579 the other month, Amazon and Currys both now have it at £629

Another great thing with it is that it has an IR blaster built in, meaning we can now shut our YouView box away and just point at the TV for controls. Something I didn't know the TV came with but is a great addition in tidying the house up. Also being an Android TV I've got Kodi installed too for media purposes.

Ah nice, I'm hoping it drops to sub £550 at some point, then I'll bite I think (It's £629 on Amazon right now)

Researching TV's has been a nightmare, so I'm pretty happy I have found one that seems suitable in my budget

Yeah that's the issue I had, I was fortunate that LG refused to try fix the issue on my previous TV so gave me the full price back so grabbed this Sony. Set up a camel alert on Amazon I guess for £550 and keep your fingers crossed?

Seems it hit £579 on Amazon too earlier this month.

Oh I didn't know about alerts, I'll do that when I get home

Yeah I saw it hit that price but I was still looking into TV's at that point and didn't want to pull the trigger without knowing it was good for what I need

I don't mind which colour I get as both look good to me, I just want one of the 49 inch models

Currently trying to decide between 43x800d, 49x800d and 49x700d. Will mostly be watching (standard) BDs and 720p/1080p content from HDD. I'd like to keep the option of some UHD streaming/UHD BDs later on though.

I've read that the contrast on the 43x800d is more than twice as good compared to the 49 due to the 43's VA panel. This sounds like a lot, but is it really that noticeable? I'd rather have a 49" one, but 43" would also suffice (and be cheaper) if the image quality is noticeably better.

Then there's also the 49x700d for the price of a 43x800d. Doesn't have wide color gamut, but if I understand correctly, this is only used for HDR content, which would be like 5% of what I watch. It has an IPS panel like the 49x800d, but doesn't have triluminos display, so I'm not sure how it compares in terms of image quality for SDR content, as most reviews only cover the 43x800d.

What do you recommend? :)

Depending how far you sit by the TV may make your decision easy. If your really close like 5 ft go 43, if over go 49" Scratch the X700D, go with the 800D. I have the 49 inch, and it looks great.

I've had both, 49X800D and traded for the KS8000......there is quite a jump in goodness if I'm being honest. That's not to say the Sammy doesn't have it's share of problems though; but if you luck out on a good panel then you've got yourself one hell of a TV.

Both are good, one can be great however IMO.

Thanks :) It's more like 8 ft for me. Currently I have a 42" and think it's fine, but I'd still like to get a bigger one when upgrading (without any real reason though), so maybe 49" is the way to go. Still not sure how big the image quality difference between the X700D and X800D is with SDR content, price difference is about 150€ for me.

So to my understanding, after reading the reviews, the HDR on this TV will not get nearly as bright as the higher end 4K TV's, but will still retain the color and extra detail HDR also provides. Am I correct?

Really looking forward to picking this up soon if that's the case. Peak brightness is not nearly as important to me as the color.

People have different priorities ultimately, but the Sony XBR43X800D hands down.

You're comparing an IPS (49X800D) to a VA (KS8000) though. There are no known IPS panels in any of the 4 sizes offered for the KS8000.

Rtings.com rated it's color gamut as really great, just behind LG OLEDs from 2016. It's very good in that regard.

Bought the 49 inch version to use as a monitor. How is it for PC gaming, is the input lag that noticeable?

EDIT: It just arrived. Why can't I select 10 bit in 4k (8 bit only), but I can select 12 bit in 1080p in the Nvidia control panel? :/

yes im getting the exact same issue on my 43" XD8077
i was getting the banner appear whilst playing games quite a lot, but only realised a day or so ago that the audio would also cut out sometimes aswell (i normally use headphones)

happens on my ps4 pro while playing games.
i think i recall it happening on my xbox one aswell, which is on a seperate socket hdmi1. although i havent played it much since getting this new 4k tv.

if we're both getting this problem then its possibly a firmware issue?

maybe its our hdmi cables? not enough bandwidth for the 4k signal?
(im using the cable that came with the ps4 pro. ive just ordered an ibra pro gold from amazon uk to test if its really that issue)

This TV seems to be one of the best reviewed budget range 4K HDR TV's besides the Samsung 6300, anyone know if Sony plans to still sell this TV this year or was there a new model at CES they will replace this with?

Bought mine from Amazon and absolutely love it. Little tip I learned is you can call them and simply ask for a discount and they will, if you look it up they state that tvs are the only exception due to the competitive market. So I got my x800D and 150 off for it being a 2016 model, it was pretty awesome they did that for me. But I'm using it for my Pc monitor and absolutely love it.

I bit the bullet and got this TV as a replacement for me not having a TV. Very satisfied so far however I can't connect my PC to it. I'm using the same HDMI cable as I use to connect my monitor. Tried all the HDMI ports but everytime I get the no signal message. PC has a GTX970 running at 1080P. Am I missing something? Should I doe something in the nividia control panel?

There is a new model 800e? The 800d(2016) should be available all year. The 700d (2015) is the one that will be phased out this year.

I'm thinking of upgrading to a PS4 Pro and 4kTV finally. I'm ignorant about what makes a good TV though, and started reading through this thread.

Is the Sony XBR49X800D still a highly recommended TV? The price is right, and I need something sold from Amazon.

So I've noticed gradient banding on Gravity Rush 2 and it has it in all settings(custom, game, graphics, etc). I don't have it in the dashboard background. Is this the game or are there tricks in the settings to fix this?

you sure it isnt upscaling artifacts?

gravity rush 2 has a weird rendering technique, whereby the geometry is rendered at 4k but the textures/shading etc are 1080p upscaled.

i think rtings did mention some very minor banding noticeable on the blue spectrum iirc.
but ive checked the gradient tests on lagom.nl and i didnt notice any on my tv.

getting really washed out visuals on Resident Evil 7 using HDR on this tv.

calibrated according to the ingame settings and also rtings own preferred settings for everything except panel specific rgb settings.

anyone tell me what their brightness slider values in the game settings are?

also brightness sets itself to max when using hdr. is that correct?
