Who will buy Zelda BOTW WiiU ?

What system are you buying Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild for?

I probably will. I don't see myself getting a Switch until Splatoon 2 comes out, so I'll probably get BotW on Wii U. Unless it turns out the Wii U version is somehow inferior, in which case I'll just wait.

The Switch has left me utterly unimpressed...but I don't own a Wii U.

Real talk, would now be a good time to try and get one? What games besides Breath of the Wild should I look into getting?

Definitely buying Wii U verion. We had couple people eg gamespot impressions say that Wii U version was "smoother" for example - I would be surprised if the final game on Switch runs worse on Switch, but at the very least it sounds like you arent getting a gimped Wii U version running at terrible framerates (which was a fear of mine)

I just cant justify the additional $370 for Switch + $70 pro controller (this price in particular makes me mad) when there isnt anything else remotely interesting coming until late in the year (I already have Mario Kart on Wii U for example). I also think they should bundle the 1,2,Switch for free for the $300 price of the console.

I'll wait for price drops and bundles a year or so from now. I like the technology but there just isnt the content to justify being an early adopter as a Wii U owner

Preordered the Wii U version this morning after the presentation last night made me ill. I'm not that hard up for Zelda that I'm going to spend that much money on it and then wait about 5, 6 months for enough online games to come out to justify paying that online fee. Goddamn garbage policy.

I'll probably be getting the Wii U version, unless it turns out there are some weird performance problems with that version or something.

Preordered the Wii U version after the Switch presentation. It will be a good while before I get a Switch, so Wii U version it is.

Check your local classifieds, I see great deals on mine (Console and games libraries on the cheap) People will be (foolishly imo) looking to offload WiiUs right now.

I really want to play the best version of the game, but that would also most likely mean waiting until the end of 2017 to purchase it, since I'm not going to make the same mistake I made with the Wii U. I'd wait until more than a select few games + "potential" exclusives are out before buying a Switch. I also won't be paying $300 for a system less powerful than a PS4 Slim, whose portability is almost a complete non-factor for me.

Right now, I don't know what I'm going to do.

There's an online fee associated with the Switch version? If that's only for multiplayer, then it doesn't matter to me.

On the bright side, this will be the top selling WiiU game ever. Just saying

All two hundred copies!

I will buy the Wii U version. I already wasn't enthusiastic for the Switch, and the presentation was IMO a complete disaster. First generation where I won't buy a Nintendo console, PC gaming only for me from now.

Mario and Xeno were the only two things they showed something of, of those.
The others could be literal YEARS down the road, SMT in particular could be Death Stranding levels of "away".
True enough. Fire Emblem has its own Nintendo Direct next week so I guess we might get more info on that then. I really hope SMT isn't TOO far down the line though. But all I've got is hope.

I will nab on the wiiu. I wasn't excited for the switch, and after the presentation. It was a solid not picking up day one. If it had Monster Hunter, I would have been all over it.

I am! They didn't sell me on the switch at all. They did the opposite. By 2018? Maybe if titles are out I like. I just bought a PS4 in November anyhow.

Yeah, but I hope you can still do stuff like this on Wii U like when they showed it off in 2014 at the Game Awards. (this is Nintendo's youtube channel) I don't buy that he was actually playing the game, but still... they showed this stuff

Although I'm pretty sure I remember people saying that there was absolutely no gamepad stuff last E3. If they took out gamepad stuff from the Wii U version just because Switch wouldn't be able to use it, that would kinda piss me off.

Anyone got a link to these impressions?

I would take it very lightly. He doesn't mention stuff like how many enemies were on screen, what was going on in the environment etc. I think it's best to wait for proper analysis.

I don't believe for a second that the Wii U version was never supposed to use the features of the gamepad. It is very obvious that the Sheikah Slate = gamepad, but they removed those features because of the Switch.

Yeah, I had that exact feeling, but if they removed features then I just think that sucks.

I think inventory management for Wind Waker was much less cumbersome using the gamepad, so I hope, hope, hope I can do the same for BotW.

Thanks - yeah pretty inconclusive.

Really though, I don't think Nintendo would release a "bad version" of the game. Zelda is too important to Nintendo and gamers where I just can't see that happening. I'm just trusting that each version will play well and be well readied by the time it launches.

Just cancelled my Switch preorder and went WiiU instead. The fact it's £60 on Switch and £40 on WiiU is a joke and pushed me over the edge.

Was so ready for Switch but that presentation killed any hype I had.

I preordered the Wii U version today. I have every intention of getting a Switch, but I don't see any reason to get it at launch. I'm hoping they pull a 3DS and drop the price within the year.

I'm not big on performance unless it's super noticeable, so I'll probably go Wii U.

The more I've seen though today I'm warming up to the Switch, but financially I'm in a position where I'll probably hold off till Christmas as I have other expenses to focus on.

Yeah, I've had it on pre-order for ages now and I'm not about to cancel (especially since it was £35). This way I can play Zelda on March 3rd and pick up a Switch around Christmas just in time for Mario...and a price drop.

Wii u day one - wii u owners would have to be mad to get a switch on launch. I'm waiting until christmas at least. The ps4 has better games in one month than this thing has forever on whats been announced.

What have nintendo been doing all this time?

The worst thing is we won't even get any proper handheld titles anymore.

To everyone saying this - Is Zelda the only game Nintendo makes that you have any interest in? What happens if the next Zelda game they make is a Switch exclusive? Is the transaction then $60 for one, or $420 for two?

Then I'll buy the switch for that, when it's (maybe) cheaper and has a larger non-launch library. Launch titles are always thin on the ground, and when the biggest one for the switch is on a console I already own it's a bit of a no-brainer

I did the same for the Wii/Twilight Princess and never really felt like I missed out

Can't pass up portable Zelda! Might let my brother borrow the Wii U so they can pick up Zelda though.

I don't understand the appeal of Odyssey. It looks like any other 3D Mario but now Mario can throw hats.

I don't really understand what 'any other 3D Mario' means when most of the 3D Mario games are pretty different from one another.

C'mon, man...

Big difference to me is I already paid for the console that can run one of these Zelda games. Crappier version or nor, the price difference is huge for me. Once that console is made entirely obsolete because no new games I want are coming for it, then I invest in the new one. The cycle continues.

I'm going to buy it for Wii U.

I'll be waiting until Mario releases to make a possible Switch purchase. I need to see how everything shakes out leading up to the holidays. I'm guessing we'll also see some sort of bundle for the holidays as well.
