of course they do. where do you think they got the brilliant idea to charge for online? they even saw that they had to "give" some "free" games in exchange, and very reluctantly seem to agreed to do so.
right now the only hope we have is
- switch allows wired headsets
- switch also supoorts wireless bluetooth headset
as it is now we dont even have any idea if the system supports voice input natively at all
We do. It doesn't.
Wait, the app isn't free?
Is it included in the subscription ?
I don't really understand.
Nintendo fans with a high tolerance to bs.
What would be the point if that if every Switch could do it natively? Can at least one person who is in complete denial of this feature please explain that to me? Why would they go to the trouble of developing a phone app that does something the Switch could already do?
I literally don't believe this one. This is too much even for Nintendo.
So this is really real?
Like not a joke or a mistranslation or something else?
Because my God. Nintendo really is something else.
I think they would have mentioned that it's free for subscribers if it was. The only thing I saw was "free version of the app with limited functionality"
But your example is why this isn't forward thinking. There are already a multitude of solutions of this type that are completely free. It's not forward thinking, it's completely ass backwards.
Why?Yes, but what I mean is that they should work on decoupling the voice chat experience away from the console.
PS3 & PS4 are able to do that and STILL have voice chat through the console. (though you need a dongle)I would rather use the bluetooth headset I already got for my phone.
What are the advantages? There is a multitude of advantages to offering voice through your smart device. Watch Microsoft and Sony follow eventually.
Okay so I've been skeptical about this from the once it was announced. Something about this doesn't add up because you can preorder a 3rd party headset at Gamestop.
Does that plug into your phone?!
Edit: I'm going to have to look this up. I distinctly remember the guy on line in front of me being asked by an employee if he wanted to preorder any accessories and mentioning a headset. To which the guy put money down for.

That Splatoon page info really makes it seem like all voice chat will be handled by an app on your phone.
Why would they do this =/
I would die if it was audio only with a mute and volume button. Given the news today, I could believe it.
List them right now.Yes, but what I mean is that they should work on decoupling the voice chat experience away from the console. I don't want to buy a console headset. I would rather use the bluetooth headset I already got for my phone.

I like how Nintendo refer to other devices than the Switch as the "smart devices".
At least they're honest.
So seeing that this is still around, this is fucking for real? Voice chat through a goddamned smartphone app?
Voice chat like the voice chat that was happening in 2004 with Halo 2 on the original Xbox?
This is THE most unfathomable news from the whole event... how the hell is this even possible in 2017?
Your phone will be busy so no one can bother you while you play legacy FIFA with the right joycon and talk through your phone in your left handList them right now.

You probably wouldn't want to voice chat with your friends if your console isn't even connected to the net to play online, I thinkWhile this is crazy from a console perspective, I guess it makes some sense if you consider the system to be a portable without cellular service.
I guess cause it's so crazy they are not really sure!My main question is, why aren't more outlets jumping on this? Is it something we're not getting or are they turning a blind eye?
Why?

Allowing you to use any old BT headset on a console is not something that requires this cell phone middle man method, it would just require the console manufacturers allowing for widespread BT headset support, which I don't believe they currently do. That's not an advantage that is inherent to decoupling. Hell considering Gamestop is apparently selling Switch headsets, it might not even be an advantage in this case.
Wait, is there a separate fee for this? It's ass backwards either way, but god damn.

Seems to be part of the paid online subscription; will be free only until online is free.Wait, is there a separate fee for this? It's ass backwards either way, but god damn.

Reggie said:Instead of having some sort of bulky gamer headset, youll be able to do it right off your smartphone, put in your earbuds that you use for your standard mobile device. We think thats a pretty sweet solution. Thats part of the overall opportunity that we see in a subscription service.
