Horizon Zero Dawn - Preview Thread [Up: All Previews Live]

lol...yeah, it's not a good one, but if you are genuine, (no offense) it seems to certainly be an outlier. Many of the additional footage shows pretty strong voice-acting and Aloy herself sounds consistently good. Just check out the previews man, I think this one is going to be something special.

i actually don't think it's really that bad, it's more funny IMO, no reason to make a demon possessed man so serious all the time...lol Now we have MEMES of it!

Yeah, it's probably just one bad VA but it's a very bad one. Hope it's an outlier. Even The Witcher 3 had the odd dodgy-sounding character. Facial animations don't look great though.

Another entry for the bingo sheet? :p

one question, how long or big are we expecting this game to be??

I avoid open world games on principle because they take forever to finish and/or to complete 100%, so if this game isn't as big that would be a major plus for me.

The video linked earlier in the thread mentioned about 40 hours. It's a big game.

No idea, but I imagine you can cut the game's length down a good deal if you avoid all the side content, though by doing that, you kind of deprive yourself of the game's (apparently) rich lore. I'd expect anything from 30-40 hours (non-completionist).

You don't have to finish it right away you know

I think my biggest surprise is how consistently interesting the open world level design for Horizon is. The PlayStation Access video alone impressed me. I know Skyrim wasn't perfect, and Xenoblade Chronicles wasn't open world, but I can feel that same curiosity to go explore that I felt in those two games just because the level design is so interesting. It's rare I want to climb to the top of a mountain just to see the view. Boring flat level design was my biggest concerns for both Horizon and Breath of the Wild. My concerns for Horizon in that regard have been alleviated, and while I'm still concerned about Zelda, Monolith Soft working on the game does give me hope.

It's weird, but i'm kinda proud that this colossal game is coming from the freaking Netherlands.
Guerrilla staff, if you're reading this, and I know you all are, you're awesome. Get your shine on.

Perhaps because they're a Dutch developer they're a bit unaware of this issue of appropriation in America, but it doesn't excuse it.
Genuinely knowing about Dutch history and how much our culture is influenced by them even today makes this an insanely ironic statement.

How does the water look in these new videos? More specifically interaction with the water. do any of them show swimming or underwater?

I just quickly skipped through some of the videos. Trying to avoid spoiling anything.

I've only read previews so far. Whatever screenshots or gifs are posted here that's it for me
I've only read the wrap up at the end of the previews. I think I am going to listen to a vid or two though.

I just feel like I can fall down the rabbit hole and with watching one vid turns into having read and watched everything.

You can swim, but you can't go underwater.

If I let my self watch one it'll turn into another ffxv situation where I was do hyped I needed more Nd saw way too much than I wanted too

Still unclear if the improvements in shadow maps and increasing the quality of the anisotropic filtering is for the PS4 PRO in general or just for the 1080p mode.
