Any video showing combat done by a competent player?
In that other newer thread showing off new videos, there's someone playing it on very hard and doing pretty well.

I'd be all about this day one, barring bad reviews, if Zelda wasn't a few days later. I'll pick it up in the spring/summer.

I know there are details about the PS4 Pro enhancements, but are there any write-ups about how the game looks and plays on a non-Pro PS4? I'm assuming people played on pros at the preview event.

No they were only able to film like 2 minutes of pro footage all of the long previews are on regular ps4's

*Plz add this to op

Interesting, I guess I did! I guess they aren't done tinkering with the Pro stuff yet, I just would have assumed that they would want to put forward the best version of the game for preview.

It makes sense though, more than 57m PS4 sold out there, you don't want those people to believe their version is crap.

They've done really well with this. Making very clear what's pro and what's not. Of ps4 still being front and center with pro footage to follow. I had worries when it was first announced I no longer have those worries they know what they're doing it seems

Easy Allies did a preview also, Sorry if its been posted already
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fGhghvqJ0HU

I watched this last night and glad he highlighted the abundance of foraging for raw items to build weapons, etc. I know a lot of people dig that kind of system but I find it really tedious and almost always avoid it or minimize it as much as possible when I can. So to hear it's such a prominent part of Horizon is a little disconcerting.

Actually they've done previews for the Pro too. They were only allowed to cover about 2 minutes of Pro footage though. Just google Horizon PS4 Pro footage. Should be a ton of short videos.

To be fair, it doesn't look like you have to go out of your way to collect stuff for crafting. Most of the stuff you just walk past, press a button and instantly pick up, so it doesn't seem overly tedious.

Tall neck are like 2.5 times big and maybe atleast 3 times heavy, they are like big elephant, Ropecaster range is not that big if you check the previews. If they increased the range , than you can take down any machine from far with stealth.

I mean if the dev consider the combat with tallneck also, it may break certain combat scenario while fighting the other Machines.

Also Thunderjaw is bipedal , fast and aggressive , tallneck well they are slow , i don't think it will make them a particular good enemy for combat.

That what i think for now , but who knows maybe there is one corrupted tallneck you have to fight at the end.

The bigger they are, the harder they fall ( i don't think that the Tallneck are much bigger than a Thunderjaw, imho) XD. I don't see the problem with the range of the ropecaster, just use it on the front legs to make it stumble. The fact that it is indeed slower and less aggressive than other machine could help a little bit with enemies variety and there are plenty of ways it can fight you.

That's what she said.

No?

That looks more like auto-platforming. Basically pressing forward.
In an open world setting, I just consider them as part of exploration gameplay of how do I get to up there. So you explore the world looking for these climbing/jumping path and see where it'll lead you.

With grasslands, tundra, mountains, canyons, deserts and canyons all in such close proximity, I do wonder where this is supposed to be based. Turkeys mean it's North/Central America, so the only place where it makes sense to have all those biomes is Mexico.

I know the real answer will probably just be "videogameland".

Still looks fucking awesome though. And like others have said, in an RPG movement like that is rare. Usually it's just pressing a button to climb up a ledge or some shit and that's it. Some platforming here and there is definitely a good thing.

Love most of what I've seen slight worry that melee combat is not all that good. Any discussions on melee focused builds?

Yea I havent really been that impressed with the melee. Which is surprising given the fact that they dedicated two buttons to it I would think they prioritized melee but it sort of looks janky and serviceable. I'm not expecting Dragon's Dogma but at least a little more dynamic and necessary.

I think the consensus here is that is
Colorado
. In particular, there was one scene in the previews where
Aloy used a tool to see what a ruined site looked like in the past, and it was very visually similar to the architecture of the US Air Force Academy and the game called it something like "air combat academy." In real life the Air Force Academy is just north of Colorado Springs.

Interesting, I'd have assumed that as well, but the jungles throw me off. Unless I'm mistaken, the US doesn't have any.

Though I guess their excuse could be that climate change resulted in jungles, or it's a super condensed representation of North America that does stretch down to Mexico.
