What did they even change it from ???Uhhh, they just change established game mechanics like that in the middle of the game?
Ok I thought that was pretty awful.
Essentially an amusement park ride with about as much interactivity or agency as you are afforded strapped to a rail-car seat. You can look left or right, but do little else.
-Every obstacle is spoiled by the "voice in your ear". He points out everything you come across such as life-forms and solutions to problems you didn't even have a chance to realize was a problem yet. (Oh there was a door locked in front of me?)
-The mission almost never just takes a step back and let the player breathe. Combat time! Walking slowly and scanning time! follow the voice's explicit instructions(or don't, you have no choice really!)
Granted this isn't largely any different from prior games, but I suppose if this is a taste of what to expect from the game at large in terms of mission design. No thanks.
What did they even change it from ???
Seems like you do scanning prior to that so shooting rocks to get at the controls?
Well, this is where I draw the line. Definitely not spoiling what could be some of the best moments in the game. Really enjoyed those missions in Mass Effect 2.
I have no idea, it just sounds really odd to me to have a mechanic work one way for who knows how many hours and then just change it randomly to the point where they need to re-tutorialize it.

Yeah. Would be a major disappointment in that case. Looked very mediocre.I sure as fuck hope that's not the case this time.
Can we PLEASE stop nitpicking quick shots holy fuck it's like NeoGAF is a constant version of CinemaSins BUT THESE PEOPLE ARE FUCKING SERIOUS.
For fuck sake.
It`s like... The more they gameplay they release, the less I want this game.
Haven't kept track on this game, but the player never seems to give directions (position, skills etc) to the allies. Has this been removed?
Hey, people wanted it to be more like The Witcher 3... ;p

The whole thing is more baffling than anything else. Shouldn't they have introduced all uses by this point and it's now up to the player to use that toolset mid to late-game? Not to mention the uses here seem fairly in line with other footage that we've seen.
Wondering the sameHaven't kept track on this game, but the player never seems to give directions (position, skills etc) to the allies. Has this been removed?
What make you think it's a mid to late game ? It even has tooltips about very basic stuff like dodging, holstering and more
Anyway I doubt you have to direct remnant drone around anywhere else. It's either that or shooting rocks, which sounds less likely to me.
- 4 minutes of boring walking towards a waypoint.
- Unsubtle and unsurprising combat scenario behind cover.
- Activating a switch.
- Unsubtle combat scenario with clunky movements.
- Cutscene
I'm passed that kind of by the numbers gameplay.

Not sure how I feel about the to tonal shift in the protags with them be so gee golly happy go lucky and wise cracking. I guess it's just a matter of adjusting. Being a straight laced yet sympathetic commander helped add a level of gravity to everything.
The best thing about the combat from earlier ME games were to combine and queue the different abilities of your allies.. and your saying this has been removed.. maaaan.

I'm past that kind of by the numbers gameplay now and I liked/loved Mass Effect 1-2-3. This seems very redundant.
You supposedly can give directions such as basic movement positions and which enemies to target. That's it.

Loyalty missions aren't the first thing you do.
Yeah, it's basically all automatic now. And you can have all the skills in the game regardless of class, so... it makes squad mates slightly irrelevant. I guess they're good for taking hits if you're overwhelmed, as shown in this video.
As I understand however: The good news is that they've automated it better so that you can tell the quadmates to perform certain moves after yours, so they can follow up your Lift with a Push automatically. And vice Versace, you can tell them to keep setting up Lift combos for you to Push. The best thing about the combat from earlier ME games were to combine and queue the different abilities of your allies.. and your saying this has been removed.. maaaan.
I saw one of the devs answer someone on twitter and tell them that Liam's skill 'Havoc Strike' or something was Liam-only. I think the 'players have all skills' just means you can get all Ryder skills, whereas You couldn't get biotic charge as an infiltrator before, for example.
So what ? Maybe you can do them early. And it's not like the we have seen tons of remnant to order around (in a not very intuitive way at that), and console hidden in breakable rocks before that point in the game

Rather than hot-keying one move of theirs to the dpad, they just know when to use it now

Looks good.
