There's also an npc looking for that area and you can knock a side quest out while finding it. He's around that same area, or was when I was there.

for most people asking I can only imagine they haven't done the pre-requisite to be able to start the sidequest anyways which is to
have the unlocked slate by going to the other town
.

I'm really liking the Barbarian armor. Got the head and chest pieces. The search for the legs is driving me nuts (playing it blind, don't want to google anything).

The hurt is real from not being able to play this game! I haven't had a Nintendo console since the GameCube but reading impressions and reviews is making me question why I'm not buying a Switch. I honestly only want it to play Zelda but man this game sounds incredible.

I haven't loved a 3D Zelda game since Majora's Mask but this game...this is good. Damn good. I'm really surprised how much I'm enjoying it. It really feels like a breath of fresh air in a lot of ways. I'm excited to play more.

This game might actually break into my top 3 favorite games of all time. It's just filled to the brim with amazing moments.

all this game is missing is to let me do what Witcher 3 did, and let me give Link different haircuts and a mustache. We all know it's in his blood, his uncle in a previous life had a sweet moostaaaaaaaache

So I'm probably a good 8 or so hours in and I haven't found a single piece of clothing outside my original (2). Am I just flat out missing where to go? Can I make any clothes?

Damn!
I had this eager anticipation as opened the doors to the windmills in Hateno village, hoping to see a reborn "Go around, Go around" guy. Unfortunately they were empty.

Most towns have a shop that sells armor. A few quests and shrines gives you stuff too.

You already missed one early you can get in the first area.

Also towns have armor you can buy. Other places to sometimes get clothing/armor is in shrines.

But don't hold your breath on it being super common, out of all of the armor I own this early on I bought most of it, like 2 pieces came from shrines, and the other stuff was given to me via the story.

What was the last game where lightning is a thing that can actually kill you?

And no, I'm not counting weapons or magic with a lightning theme. I'm talking regular-ass lightning coming from the sky.

First of let me say that I am still loving this game!
Unsure if I am in the minority here, but if there was 1 negative with this game that I feel they took a step back on, it's the dungeons.

One of the biggest, if not most exciting things in Zelda, at least to me, were the dungeons. The mystery behind them, The excitement of finding them. Wht they would look like. What I would find inside! Here in BoTW, those traditional 7 or more dungeons are gone, replaced with 4 smaller scaled, more puzzle oriented dungeons.

Perhaps they needed to be sacrificed due to time constraints, as a lot of effort has been put into the open world itself instead, to provided something new to the Zelda series, exploration! Just like your Skyrim or Fallout.

I get that don't get me wrong and like I said, I'm still enjoying it, but would of been even more awesome if it also still had those traditional 7 to 8 dungeons, considering you still had those 100+ shrines for puzzles anyway.

Just my thoughts. Still liking it!

Where's the best early game place to get new weapons? I exhausted most of my weapons attempting to fight the rock guy in the Plateau when I decided to go back and search for stuff I might've missed. I got so close to killing him, too...

Did a search in here for the Two Bombs shrine. Didn't find any posts about it and I'm glad I didn't because after about 30 mins of trying to figure out what the hell to do, it finally clicked. I don't like that I was so easily tempted to find the answer but I'll try to resist next time. Easily the most difficult puzzle shrine yet because
I was unaware of a specific mechanic with the two bombs.

I love this game so much.

Is there a way to easily get uncompressed photos off of the Switch? I don't want to have to go through social media.

I wasn't able to find another way, but if you link to Facebook and post them there, you can just post them on your timeline so only you can see it. That's what I did as a way to just be able to download them to my computer.

While I miss the theme dungeons, some of the puzzles in this game are harder than anything in a previous dungeon in the modern Zelda titles.

Though I love how they aren't tied to an item you may have not gotten yet. I remember solving a puzzle that wanted to make you keep all of the torches lit, and when I realized that I had all but one lit and that I'd have to restart, I opted to shoot the last one with a fire arrow and it worked lol

I'm fine with the way shrines and dungeons are done in this game but I'm saying that as someone who only ever really enjoyed the 2D dungeons. I've always felt like the dungeons in the 3D games were too long and overstayed their welcome by quite a bit.
I hated the dungeons in TP for example, so I"m glad they went in a very different direction with this game.

They're short but sweet and some of them are pretty damn tough as well.

I totally agree. The dungeons have always been the weakest link for me with the 3D Zeldas. I really like BotW's approach.

Different haircuts were confirmed in the E3 "Outside the Plateau" video.
So far I've only seen one and it'd directly tied to head gear. Aka if there are different hairstyles they are head gear from what I'm seeing. I don't think there's a barber that lets you change your default hair that you can see in headgear such as the hood.

You all doing main quest or bumbling around with side quests? I'm never sure what to do when there's options.

I think there's a real emphasis on the journey here, so I'm pretty much doing a smattering of whatever. I got to a point in the game where I don't really feel like I'm equipped, so I've stepped away to explore the expanse further and get more of the map visible.

I went to Kakariko and talked with
Impa
but something-something memory and I decided to faff around and see what happens until I got bored enough to go back.

I can't remember where it was, but there was a waterfall where I made an ice-staircase up and there was a treasure chest on a small ledge close to the top with a lightning rod in it :D So good, shooting bolts of electricity. I'm sad it broke.

There's at least one other piece of additional clothing you can get on the great plateau. Aside from that and the shops new clothes has been scarce for me. I don't mind, since I'm pretty attached to what I got, but still.

Thanks for responses. I'm just worried this early stuff and kakariko village is gonna turn into the Hinterlands. Trying to avoid the ocd easter egg hunts.

I love this game... I could sing its praises all day... but I gotta say, when you need to climb something, and it suddenly starts raining, it's really fucking annoying. I'd be interested to know if there is any way around this problem other than just waiting? maybe some special equipment that can help once i find it?

I really feel like the game has split up the traditional dungeons into all kinds of gameplay. You find new weapons through exploration and this can really change up how you play. Like if you find a really powerful weapon it could push you to finally try to take on a new area or try to get to a tower.

You get shrines to offer some really clever puzzles along with the korok seed puzzles.

Plus you get the almost constant feeling of exploration that old zelda dungeons use to give.

I feel like this makes it even better then traditional zelda games. Because in the outher games there was times where there was dry periods with not much to do except make your way to a dungeon. Now you get to do dungeon like material whenever you want.

Plus we have a ton of sidequests. More so then any other zelda game.

So err, how do you charge the Joycons? Do you just stick them on the Switch, stick it in the dock and let it sleep by itself? How long does it take?

Climbing the central tower at five hearts and just that red armor you get in kakariko village and the red bandana was an intense moment. Really, going to Hyrule Field that early was pretty intense lol.

Try riding your horse through it and getting chased by four guardians

And in regard to that tower mentioned above, it happened shortly after riding my horse in the nearby field

I ended up brute forcing it through trial and error, but what's the actual way to
navigate the second half of the lost woods? Couldn't figure out any pattern to how I did it

Combo of both. I usually go to the general direction the main quest is telling me to go, but I take a lot of detours along the way.

Same. One small leg of the main quest takes me forever because I get drawn into a million other things.

In other games, this can be annoying because I feel like I am compelled to complete side content. In BotW, there is no compulsion. It just feels natural to explore since the world is so much more open and dynamic than any other game world.

Stick em on the Switch and charge it.

Or buy a joycon charging grip, insert the joycons and charge that.

I charged mine up before starting it up. Joycons need to be on the switch aND then either docked or plugged on the bottom of the screen with ac plug.

Eta- the understated music is fantastic so far. I'd imagine it gets faster passed further on the journey.

Me too, and then proceed to get my ass kicked once I reach a place where enemies are buffed as fuck and me chugging along with my 5 hearts.
