Quesiton about the sheikah sensor...

Once you get the + upgrade how do you turn it off. Basically, I have it set to a torch right now, can I turn that off? Is it not searching for shrines if it's looking for an item? It seems really weird that I can't turn it off from searching for items. Any ideas?

edit: NVM figured it out

God damn I hate the rain so much
Yea it's annoying because you can't climb, nor can you use a torch and using a sword means you can get struck by lightning meaning you are limited a lot. And ou can't change the time of day unless you are resting for which you need access to a bed. Not to mention framerate becomes more unstable.

Fighting the
elephant
right now and holy crap its so much fun. Pretty simplistic but extremely enjoyable. Helping me tune my bow aim.

Pretty sure everything about shrines is location-specific, based on my own experience with combat shrines.

What a joke.
And its not like they even detail the controls in the menu. You have to fucking learn them just for them to appear under..lol.."ability controls". Dodge is an ability..smh.

The pop in on Wii U is a lot worse than the frame rate. Can't believe no one is complaining about horrible pop in of enemies. Guess I'm just too used to playing on a beast machine PS4 Pro...

Okay..i hope im right about this.

The shrines and what they teach or show is not LOCKED to the location you find them, right?

Say no matter where you find your 5th or 6th shrine the contents are preset. I just did the one that teaches you how to parry and roll...two things i didnt know were in the game...and id be fucking annoyed if the game only tells you that in this specific dungeon.

I think it is because that shrine is in a specific area that I missed initially. Now that I'm 20+ hours in with 10 shrines completed, I just learned those moves recently. I never saw a hint of it anywhere else.

Got stuck on one shrine, gonna go back later when I can have a fresh perspective. Had lots of really fun adventures today (including sneaking past a sleeping giant Moblin chieftain). The mountains in the Goron domain is really fucking desolate. Almost no enemies, but just trying to climb stuff can kill you if you're reckless. I managed to get to the top of one of the mountain ranges and got to the Wasteland Tower (apt name for the region). Getting to the tower was fun. Climbing the tower was intense when I realized after starting that there was no early ledge and I had to do a jump onto an external rock formation to recover stamina. Felt great when I got to the top. Fuck.

The shrine puzzles are really something. Everything about this game screams quality. I can't believe I'm hours into a Zelda game and I haven't been to a single dungeon and.... I don't even care? Wow.

What is the best way to find Shrines? I find them very annoying to search for and that scanner is annoying as all hell. Is there a way to know how many are in one area to make sure you get them all before moving on? I'm just finding that they're super important but extremely annoying to find.

Also how do you get into the shrine that's
across from the stables? It has all those spikes around it and I haven't found anything that will get me through

Also the other shrine I am having issue with is the one with the cursed statue gaze
where you shoot the eys of the statue at night and the shrine appeared, it is that one where the room keeps spinning in a circle

Finally, the memories you have to find, once again I'm just supposed to search out these spots by running around and hoping I find it?

While I don't want my hand held, I find the navigation in this game to be very annoying.

Climb the region's tower or a really high point anywhere you are. Look around for anything emitting orange light, check with with your slate viewer and pin it if it's a shrine.

You have to climb some of the crumbling structures around it. Eventually you'll get to a little broken arch thing that's half covered in goop but it's still climbable. Then jump and glide to the tower.

Thanks for this! I saw the goop on the arch and thought I couldn't climb it... D'oh!

Burn the thorns with fire (fire arrow, bomb arrow, whatever).

First, use your magnet rune to pull all of those spiked balls out of the hamster wheel and toss them into the abyss so you don't have to deal with them. Then just stand at the bottom and wait for the platform to rotate so it "picks you up" and you can ride it higher. Jump from that to the gear, then look for the staircase bit rotating around. I basically jumped on that and slowly walked on its side along with the rotation so that I didn't have to come off it, I just kind of stayed on it like a log rolling down a river.

Doe no one mess around with the buttons to tey and figure out what you can do anymore? Firt thing I do is see what I can do with various buttons in different situations. Figured out how to dodge, parry, charge attacks, slow-mo, flury, and that you usuly drop items you are carrying when trying to sprint.

I was doing that until I ran out of pins. They don't give you nearly enough.

Wait, you can roll?

can anyone tell me in a non-spoilery way where I can find
korok forest
(location where you turn in koroks)

I found him at
Foothill
stables 8 grid marks up and 3 right from
kakariko
village. Then I went west 6-7 grid squares and found him at
Woodland
Stables. He gets lost finding the forest. (Counted squares while zoomed in once to map)

Coming from Horizon and Witcher 3 on the Pro, the frame rate drops bother me more, seeing as I play almost exclusively while docked.

Figured that would be the answer.
No..i look at the control scheme in the menu and just assume it tells me everything you can do in the game..like every other modern game ever made. Instead you get the word "action" and buried inside another menu you have greyed out shit like "dodge" that only shows if you "learn" it.

Wait, you can roll?

Backflip, whatever.

I know this has probably been asked a bunch, but is there any crafting/cooking use for ore? I sold a couple opal and it made me wonder considering there's no allusion to what it can make under its description.

All that complaining and you tell us you can't even roll.

You son of a gun.

If you have played a single zelda you should know how to backflip

Its because the game is so enjoyable most of us are able to look past the technical issues. Hate to think what you would have been like in the pre-ps2 era.

Quick question about a shrine:

I'm on the island where you have to gather three orbs. I'm at the last orb but the thingy where the orb goes is blocked by a huge stone plate. How am I supposed to get it off?

Nevermind. I'm dumb.
Stasis and beat the shit out of it.

You can use them to make
accessories and some are used for upgrades for your gear.
, sell them if you have an excess or have no immediate use for them.

I climbed a mountain range that in any other open world game would signify the edge of the map because of how steep and desolate they were. But not this game. No, it sticks enemies and collectibles in an area where Skyrim would have been yelling at me to turn back because I've gone too far.

Just got the
Gerudo clothes
after a long ardenous journey that involved finding that
white steed
, heading north afterwards, climbing a mountain, going North even further (does anyone know what that
giant painting on that mountain side with the Shrine-looking lock in its center
does?), then going West and ending up in the
Gerudo desert
. Waited until night and then ran all the way to
Gerudo City
. From there I went to the
Oasis
and found the guy with the clothes. None of the territory was charted.

This game...

EDIT:

I also found an area where the game told me I couldn't go any further :(

Dear GAF,

I can't stop doing shrines. Please send help.

they're sooooo good. I've gotten stuck on a number of them, and then the solution just "clicks" and it all comes together and I get such a nice feeling.

It's kind of funny (maybe even a little sad?) that the "proper" dungeon puzzle I've done (Ruta) was pretty boring compared to the shrines I've done. I like the Portal test champion experience, it works really well for Zelda, which I never would have guesses.

Where do you find raw gourmet meat? Some guy buys it for 100 rupees a pop.

I got some from a big elk that Wolf Link killed on his "MUST slaughter of all wild life" goal in life

Not even taking the time to read the thread. Just popping in to say that deflecting laser beams back at guardians is the most satisfying thing ever, and it doesn't even matter how easy it is to do. Every single time I do it with my shitty wooden shield when a miss would one shot me makes me feel boss as fuck, and I've only missed twice so far. I thought it was going to end up being harder to kill the walking around ones, but nope. Almost feels like cheating.

Holy shit I just did the modest test of strength shrine (Muwo Jeem Shrine) with weapons that did 10 damage or under. I buffed my defense and had to keep throwing bombs at the guardian when it was charging up it's laser for it's final attack. It wasn't worth it to keep trying to evade his beams and then attack him with a slow sledgehammer so I just focused on dodging the beams by running in a straight line from one side of the room to another. I was totally under-equipped but still managed to do it :D

I only have 4 hearts so when I did get hit by a beam, it put me to half a heart. It was a good thing I had three pages of food made :P
