I will say scale depending of number of heart (maybe?) I'm starting to see dark pigs and bokolins, lol

Wait really? I'm planning to hold out on my stats upgrade until I really need them. I've only activated 3 shrine towers and completed 12 shrines but I'm doing okay with just a single heart upgrade so far.

Please tell me you're joking.

Well they aren't shoved down your throat. If you talk to a lot of npcs you prolly won't miss many. The icon is contained in the info that pops up when you target them rather than being a glowing ! over their heads, so it's likely that most folks will miss some side quests given how strongly this game draws you into your own experience vs a directed experience.

Edit: crap, if you mean "miss" as in not being able to complete because reasons, I have not experienced that even once.

Dammit Nintendo, how you gonna deliver such a fun open-world for us to explore...

And then have the nerve to include the greatest towns ever seen in a Zelda title filled with NPCs full of the typical Zelda charm. Goddamn, THAT's what sold me on this game. I'm especially loving the flamboyant carpenters.

Other things I love is how the arrows actually fly in an arc and you can pick them up, having to manually catch your boomerang, how the Shrines do a good job at teaching you new functions and then testing you on them (for example I didn't even think about using the ice power to make pillars from the side of waterfalls), and...well, this is definitely the best Zelda game ever made.

Only issue is I spent my money on buying my house (I LOVE when games let you do this!), what's a good way to make money? Most of that was from selling all my expensive gems.

The horse in MGSV builds on things established by SotC and RDR. Which in turn built on the connection between player and horse in OoT.
Yes, i've played all those games on release but the way i use dhorse to hit up enemy encampments and get away combined with a sandbox of fun is closer to BotW than those games, to me. I'm done with the mgsv talk. lol
I'm not implying mgsv is better than BotW or anything. I have over 100 hrs in it and the platinum compared to my 10ish hrs in BotW. I was just saying i have been getting mgsv vibes a lot when the emergent gameplay shines and the sandbox gods are smiling.

I played this game for 15 hours yesterday, only stopping to eat or use the bathroom.

I dont remember the last time I was so consumed. XCX had me hooked too but not to this degree.

I didnt even brush until dinnertime lol. It was a straight up Zelda bum day. Felt amazing honestly, its been a while since I just gamed and had nothing else to worry about for a day.

The quest on Hatelia about
the 3 trees and the rock. I went there and defeated the stone golem, then went back to the village but the woman who gave me the quest just taunts me about the treasure, am I missinf something?

So I just got to and completed the Myahm Agana Shrine, or better known as the tilt maze shrine and had an interesting time getting it done.
After getting the ball near the end and failing to bridge the gap multiple times I ended up flipping my controller in my frustration and was surprised to discover that the whole puzzle can be turned upside down and you can complete it so much easier using the flat bottom.

This game! So many instances already that I've figured out multiple ways to complete a puzzle, especially after thinking it won't work. Too damn good.

i did the same thing lol.

ALSO so can we kill dragons, yes or no?

I think when he says miss he means unable to get due to certain events happening, not that he just didn't find them.

Completed my first Mythic Beast
the elephant dungeon
today. Whew, it was amazing but
the boss was pretty cheap at first until I memorized it to the point of madness.

This game is so vast, it's insane. I take it everyone tackles their first beast and shrines differently, eh? That's pretty cool. No two play-throughs are the same.

Is there any reason to keep old/weak clothin like the starting shirt and pants? Just got to
kakariko village and bought the hylian set

Oh, by the way, if you're worried about Hearts vs. Stamina you CAN respec...

In Hateno there's a cursed statue that a little boy will lead you to, who will allow you to trade them for money.

Just did that puzzle---had no fucking clue lol.

You got the treasure chest though, right? Took me way longer than I wish to figure out how that was possible.

Ugh this game man. I have no concept of time playing it.

I'm always going Stamina. Stamina is too good.

Besides, I always wanted to beat a Zelda with only 3 hearts. I guess I might with this one.

I'm going to risk getting shat on and just ask this,
WiiU version fine? I heard there's some issues, but mostly trivial right?
I just want to know I'm not shorting my experience by not waiting for switch.

There's something magical in how relaxing this game can be. Regardless of whether or not I'm doing side quests, the main quest, shrines, or just dicking around, the game is just soothing to play. I don't know. I can't describe it well. It's challenging but relaxing at the same time.

I feel like I've seen a lot of people asking about the whole Three Trees thing, so you're not alone, it's tough. But the quest will be marked completed when you do it, so if it's still on your Log, it's not done.

There is no treasure (and no golems, either) - follow the path of the three tree west from the mountaintop and there'll be a slope down to a fairly large outcropping, with a bunch of Lizalfos hanging around. On that outcropping there's a bombable wall, inside is a shrine.

Wii U has some more frame rate issues, but still perfectly playable (haven't played, just from what I've read).

That's what I said before I snuck into Hyrule Castle.

I hope you can! I could not hehe

So I hadn't looked into amiibo support at all and was showing the game to my friend. Good thing he told me about Epona. I warped to a stable and used my smash bros link.

Is it true that the first, and only the first, time you scan him you get epona?? Crazy!

It depends on how much you care about the frame rate. If you don't really care that the game's FPS drops a bit in cities or when it's raining or other places, than the Wii U version is fine.

I've been playing the Wii U version for like 15 hours and it's totally fine.

Depends on how much frame dips bug you.

They look pretty much identical, except the Switch version runs at 900p to the Wii U's 720p. Wii U version has more dips. Watching Switch version on stream and playing the Wii U version, the Wii U version is noticably laggier in villages.

Thanks. I guess i don't care. Besides switch shortages, who knows when id get to this otherwise

It's rare when a game really hooks me. This one has me in deep. Watching Walking Dead I'm thinking " I could be playing Zelda."

It is kind of bad at first. The starting area and the first town are the major ofenders. As you go explore other areas with better framerate you will forget thatbit was even bad. Still is not locked at 30 fps so ymmv

Good lord, this game is bonkers in terms of content. So much to do and so much to interact with. Tonight my goal was simply to get to Hateno and do whatever shrines I encountered along the way. I ended up taming and registering a new horse, going on a quest to find hidden treasure, fought and defeated a giant skeleton in a forest (this was crazy fun), found and solved several shrines, saved multiple NPCs being attacked by monsters on the road, activated a tower, finally reached Hateno and saw how many houses and NPCs to talk with there were and decided to call it a night. I am seriously in awe of how much there is in this game.

People here are being stupid with the spoilers. Nonchalantly naming enemies, weapons, bosses, other shit. Spoiler your things, people. In this game, nobody's "early game" is the same

Lots of questions, not many replies. Can't change anyone, though, because I don't know any answers! Heh.

My question: Does
a great fairy
each only upgrade a single piece of armor, or will they upgrade as many for which I have the materials? I don't want to waste a very limited opportunity on basic junk.

I bought the Wii U version yesterday and I say go ahead and grab it. Framerate issues here and there for sure but totally playable.

Each fairy upgrades multiple armor sets by only one level, so if you're particularly fond of an armor set, you'll have to scour for great fairies to increase their defense.

What's the point of even talking about the game or sharing experiences if everything is a black bar though? Like, honestly. Part of the joy of an open ended game is people sharing totally different experiences and progression paths and exchanging notes. Those sensitive to knowing what to expect even in vague ways probably shouldn't partake in any discussion at all until they complete the game? I dunno, I don't like gameplay spoilers for Zelda at all. I don't want anyone to spoil puzzle solutions for me, or where the story goes. But names of enemies and weapons? ?????????????????????

I'm playing it on Wii U and am about 15 some-odd hours in. There are definitely spots where the framerate tanks more than others (usually in dense forest areas), but for the most part, it's been fine and hasn't detracted from my experience at all. It almost seems smoother playing it on the Gamepad, but that might just be a placebo effect.
