Diamonds are used to remake equipment that you get for clearing dungeons, and for a particular headpiece that can reduce the damage you take from Guardians that I love using. The rest can be used to make certain headpieces that can raises your resistance to hot/cold weather or to lightning. Luminous rocks can be used to make an armor set that you need to complete a sidequest to access, and are also part of a fairly easy to find sidequest.

My recommendation is to always keep three diamonds and ten luminous rocks in your inventory and just sell everything else. You'll find more gems later since you'll never run out of those shiny rocks.
 
So I'm about 6 hours in, just leaving kakariko. Seriously every inch of this map was meticulously designed, earlier I was at the bottom of a series of rolling fields. It was one of those "I haven't seen that in a game before" moments.
 
Question to the people that finished the big main quest:
after I've defeated ganon, can I continue playing the game and collect all the stuff? or should I wait with defeating him until I've done everything I want to do?
 
god I had forgotten how terrible the Wii U's download speeds are

I plugged it in for the first time in like a year and a half just to play this game and got slammed by an hour+ download...on 2 MB/s internet

That's not the fastest internet in the world by any metric, but unless this update is like 10 GBs then I don't see why I get slammed by this every single time I use the system T_T

Also I found it kinda fitting I had to clear my entire system memory pretty much just to hit the 3GBs free to be able to play it, because once I finish it I highly doubt I'm ever going to use the system again.

I didn't fully understand how but I got through it without any hints from the game(because I wasent suppose to be there yet) I think it had to do with where the fog is moving
 
I was playing yesterday and my roommate was watching and just for shits and giggles we decided to storm Hyrule Castle. I've only completed the first Sacred Beast, and didn't expect to get far. I'd already had the Tower, so I flew in and uncovered a shrine next to the entrance. From there I snuck in through what I believe was a side door, found some awesome weapons,
and then a secret shrine INSIDE the castle
. We were seeing just how far I could go, and I found myself in the library. I used the Magnesis on a bookcase and killed a few enemies that way. On a whim I decided to take the bookcase with me and discovered that by holding it in front of me, the Guardians couldn't track me. My hovering bookcase made me invisible to them. I hauled that thing all over the castle and worked my way right up to the top. Just a solid 45 minutes or so of carefully walking through hell with just my bookcase as a shield. We couldn't believe that it worked so well. I brought it inside, outside, and when it couldn't get through the door in one spot I just brought it out through the ceiling, which had a large gap in it. I made it right to the final boss area before I was forced to lose it (got a nasty game over due to a
Lynel
, which caused it to go away), and then just booked it to the final boss area. I'd only cleared the first Beast
so the other Blights showed up
and didn't know what I was doing so I lost and called it a night, but we had a blast. I couldn't believe the game gave me the freedom to do just do all of that crazy stuff. It was dangerous, and thrilling, and my roommate said he nearly had a few heart attacks lol.

That bookcase was the best goddamn Zelda companion ever. It never spoke, and saved my goddamn life constantly.
 
34 hours in and just did my 2nd dungeon, the wind one.

Compared to the water one the dungeon itself was alright, but the leadup was..well none. I hope desert and fire are better because there were like no story before doing the dungeon compared to the water one. Wtf.

Also got to the Master Sword. It really wore me down.

Anywayz: 24 Shrines so far. Only 4 areas with no tower activated, but plenty unexplored in areas I've been. These are some hidden shrines I tell you. Know the location/quest for about 8 more but thats still alot missing.

Also fuck that constellation shrine. It literally makes no sense. Thank you google. First time I looked something up.

Part 1 is easy enough if
keep a torch handy
I don't know the actual strategy for part 2, but what I did through trial and error was
bear left until I reached the top of a hill, then from there bear right until you get to the bottom of a cliff, then follow the cliff right into the valley

Yeah it was not directed at you really, I just wanted to stress it because I saw the phrase "bad design" thrown here and there by a few and I can't help but think they completely missed the point. I guess we had the same idea :p
 
After two days of just climbing mountains and exploring I finally made it to my first town. Should I aim to buy the armors or can you find them in the wild? I ask since they are selling pants I got from the first area along with the rest of the set.
 
I really want more recipes... Even if they do basically the same stuff. I keep wanting to make different meals but a lot of its the same. Like when you try to make different fruit recipes... It's often is just called "fruit" something instead of "banana" something.

light the torch and then watch the embers - follow the direction they blow in the wind

On another note - is there a way to get to Lake Saria in the Lost Woods without getting ghosted? I found out how to get to
Korok Forest
but that's about it.

Part 2 as in the trial?
The "hungry trees" had iron boulders in their mouths so if you activate magnesis, you can easily see all the boulders from a distance and you just have to follow them to the end.
 
I love how little reading there is in this game relative to the amount of time playing it. And then for the time I do spend reading, chatting with npcs, etc. It tends to be a joy. This game will definitely be a blueprint for future open world games, but I can't imagine another developer coming up with a world so engrossing without me going through a bunch of text.
 
Just finished Eventide Island. That was my favorite part of the game so far. It was pretty challenging, but nothing ridiculous. I found a couple ways to cheese it, but I didn't have to resort to using them.

On my third try I threw a barrel against a tree and an electric chuchu was in it. It killed me the second the barrel broke. I was pissed.

I got to two out of the three and got struck and killed by lightning for the first time in the game :/. Was super fun though, took me about 4 triew and a good 1 1/2 hours since I only had 4 hearts and could get one shotted.

Got that too it was on the way to the shrine.

Upgraded the helmet twice but don't have any if the other pieces.
 
From the golf trial : the last one (after the orb) is
FIVE 2 handed weapon strikes and TWO single handed weapon strikes

Just writing it down because it took me waaaaaaaaaay more than it should
