I would say that Ninian is still the best of the bunch but Minerva is good for Flier Emblem and Selena can be a good source of Triangle Adept.

Okay. Clearly Grand Hero Battles are the elite trials of this game. And I'm getting wrecked, and rightfully so, because I've been a filthy casual thus far.
I tried (all Lvl40) with Effie, Takumi, Camilla, Eirika. It's the first turn, where the unit drags mine back and Michalis destroys them that -- well -- destroys me.
I realize this is the "git gud" portion of the game, and probably where I need to lean into skill inheritance and party composition rather than levels and colors, but a few tips would help.

Composition and out smarting the AI is all you should need. We can help if you provide a shot of your roster.
I didn't beat it with any inheritance, for instance. And my team isn't exactly "good" either aside from a very luck from launch Tiki.

I guess trying for green on the new banner would make the most sense since I already have red and blue flyers and Michalis would take too many resources to be useful from 3*?
Yikes how many feathers do you have? You should've had enough by now to upgrade at least two heroes to 5*.
In your position I would save up for a banner where there are multiple desirable units since you need a bit of everything right now. If you want to pull now, aim for Ninian on the old banner.

Many of 5/4* units got -Spd nature, which is really annoying. IS should stop trolling us unless they want us to quit, which considering.
Having said that the only 5* I got today, is -HP/+Spd Jaffar. I'm not sure if I should try to use him. What's your opinion on this?
You need to get the ai the send in the red cav after your effie and not the flier with drag back.
It can take a few tries but there's a way to position your units that will make the ai send the cav in first and then either both michalis and the blue flier moves down or the blue flier goes down over the mountain and michalis moves next to the now injured red cav.

I basically had the same team as you, but with lyn instead of eirika. What I did was moved Effie into enemy range on the far right with takumi behind her. Camilla and lyn were positioned in the bottom right so that when michalis moves down 2 spaces they are just out of range.
At this point Effie can tank the dude up top and one other flier. There should also be a flier that positions itself to get killed by takumi at to his left.
My memory is terrible and hazy, but I think I did some dodging with Camilla and lyn. Then tanked a hit from michalis with takumi and killed him with lyn.
No skill inheritance in any of my units and my Effie is 4*. I hope this helps!
Here's my 4* Michalis battle (12 Olivia, 39 Bartre, 40 Sophia, 39 Abel, all 4*), did it again to record it, originally Abel was 38 and Sophia was 39, hopefully it helps some people out. I think you can sub Abel for Sully and Bartre for any hard hitting axe user like Raven

I only have 25k since I'm not powerful enough to defeat stronger arena teams. Haven't promoted anybody since I don't even know if any of them are worth it or if I might get a better 4* down the road.
So this imgur album is my full roster( + 1 Gunter and 1 Cecilia not pictured) and I'll be looking here and on reddit for ideas on who needs to be eaten for skills, who should be trained up just in case they might be relevant someday and whose just taking up space.
I also have 137 orbs and 18,559 feathers so I'm prepped for mass pulling when it's time and lots of upgrading as long as I don't have to make anyone a 5* right away.

Dang, I didn't hear anything and just ended up doing it anyway. Oh well. I don't really have access to Fury 3 anyway, unless I dumped a bunch of feathers in Bartre (which I didn't really want to do). Gonna play around with a few different setup ideas to see what else would complement it and who in the Arena she could actually take a hit from (healers basically, and who uses those). I wish mages had access to Sacred Cowl, that would be great with her long cooldown.

I've come to accept that I can't do these challenge maps. I don't have enough unit variety that's ever high enough to tackle them.
Nino, Nino, Nino. Start leveling her up and getting her to 5*. I'd then focus on pulling 5*'s starting with a Red. After that you need a good blue to counter all the reds in the arena. In the meantime Subaki will be serviceable as he can tank a lot of damage, but you'll need to keep him away from archers and have Nino one shot them if possible. You want to build your team around Nino which means a character that can stand in front and take damage and as well as focusing on teammates that can provide her buffs (+spd, +atk, etc) that she'll convert into damage.
I don't agree. We don't know the nature of his Nino, and he doesn't have Eirika so the best path to Nino Country is cut off. It's really not good advice to blow more than 22k feathers on a Nino if you don't know her nature. It could be -spd/+res for all we know, and then he's fucked.
Maybe I'm to blame for hyping up Nino too much but to be clear to everyone, Nino works best with a very specific type of team composition. I went all in on her because I already had a 5* Eirika, a +spd/-res Nino, and was lucky enough to pull a Ninian on the latest banner. You can't just take any Nino and throw her onto any team and create a monster.

I'm still struggling a bit to figure out this Inherit Skill business. I found an Inheritance Stat Planner but the characters there seem to have slightly different skills and stats to the ones I have, so it's not that useful for me.
Would anyone be able to give me suggestions on what skills would be good for my top characters to inherit? Here they are:

Honestly i think julia's generally better, and her anti dragon powers combined with that silly attack and res make her a monster. Although any green mage is gunna be a blue nuke so she's important for good reason
Well first of all forget about the Lissa.
Second of all you want to run Tharja and Sharena together at all times. Darting Blow on Tharja was the right move, so good job there. I would give Tharja Desperation or Swordbreaker as her B move. Probably Swordbreaker.
Get Sharena to 5* and have her learn Fortify Def 3. She's worth the investment, and the extra buff to Tharja is good as well.
Next you want Anna to learn either Hone Speed and Rally Resistance, or Rally Speed and Fortify Resistance (Spur Resistance does not work the same way).
That gets you all four stat buffs onto Tharja. With +6 from Darting Blow and +4 from Rally/Hone, she should be fast enough to double most things on the attack. And Swordbreaker would make her a killer of reds. Not quite as good as Nino, but close.
I was fine, it's just another match I screwed up because I didn't have Triangle Adept on Eirika because of using HP+5 to raise rating that I lost to a Vantage Hector.
This is why Eldigan was so good last season, he easily tanks Hector.
Nino is + def, -res, I can at least raise her to 20 and keep her around in case I eventually pull some good supporting units for her assuming that's not an awful iv setup.
My Inability to pull good red units is fucking legendary. Marth is the best I've got and I'm still half tempted to feed him to Effie for pivot. Half the time I bring him it's for the adjacent speed buff or to soak a hit while I move other units around.
Right now most situations are solved by throwing Corrin and/or Merric at them, nothing survives Corrin's debuffs and then an assault by Merric. Olivia is there for cleanup or dancing. I also lucked into the fact that my merric is +hp, combined with the hp+5 passive he's usually too tanky to die to anything not a red tome user ( sometimes he gets sniped by a ridiculously buffed nino). Effie.. Effie just murders things if they get near her and shoves units all across the map for funsies.
I just really want to know who else in my roster has potential and who give skills that help my current units be the best they can be.

Intriguing. I would never use it on offense though, I can't stand that slow movement.
That's nature is a wash, might as well be neutral, which is fine. If you want to build around her, FemCorrin has Hone Attack which isn't a terrible start. Give FemCorrin Rally Speed from Caeda, Gaius, or Seliph, and you'll have the start of something good. Olivia also has Hone Attack which is redundant, but you could theoretically give her Fortify Resistance.
Or give FemCorrin Rally Resistance and give Olivia Hone Speed. You get the idea.
FemCorrin, Nino, Olivia in this scenario has potential. It could work. +16 attack from buffs assuming all of them are Rank 3.
Oh, and if you can help it, get Nino to level 40 each time before promoting her. You'll be thankful for the extra SP later.
If you want to build around Effie and don't mind promoting and sacrificing a 5* Donnell you can give her Brave Lance+ which is absurd on her.
Your red situation is indeed pretty dire. I would've blown all my orbs pulling only reds on the Princesses banner if I were you, but what's past is past.
There is no slam dunk with your roster but given the alternatives Nino might actually be your best bet. Here's a quick guide if you want to go in that direction:
Olivia inherits Hone Speed 3 from Matthew
Corrin inherits Rally Resistance from Cecilia

EDIT: OK so for Swordbreaker I need a 4* Abel or a 5* Sully, so that's the first roadblock as I don't have either of those.
I got Sharena to 5* and learned all her remaining skills (as I had a shitload of SP saved up).

Dang. Even with my best units I get put in the 630 tier. Managed 4300 for the week. Hopefully that keeps me top 50k.

I just realized that you could also use Minerva instead of Anna with the exact same skills I recommended. Might be preferable since she's already at 5*. You'll be grinding SP for a while though.
If you want to make her tankier then remove Life and Death and give her Iote's Shield from Michalis instead.
Iote's Shield Minerva/Sharena/Tharja is a pretty not bad team.
Oh, and give Sharena Lancebreaker. Definitely Lancebreaker.

Short of my love soren showing up I'll be saving all orbs for the next red heavy banner.
I was so tempted to spend everything to try for ninian and use her +corrin + adult tiki but the last time I spent over 100 orbs ( when erika first showed up) I gt o no banner units and only Effie as a decent pull. I've given up on going for specific units and from now on will be hunting for what I need and doing the odd for fun pull.

Need 4* Narcian for Lancebreaker. I got him up to lv20 3* now but need more feathers to go to 4*. Any quick ways to earn feathers?
You could send heroes home for feathers in a pinch but I generally only do this out of desperation or if it's a healer with absolutely no skills of interest. Then again I'm set to earn 5000 feathers this week from Arena so that's never been a huge issue for me.

I have Odin who has New Moon, but I'm guessing he can't get Moonbow until 4* and again I run into the feathers problem.
Okay well one step at a time. Run with Sharena/Tharja/Minerva/Bonus Hero. Prioritize getting as many buffs onto Tharja as possible, then have her blow shit up. If you make the right moves you should start doing better in Arena, enough to earn some feathers, which helps you do better, which helps you earn more feathers, etc. Lancebreaker on Sharena will help her take care of threats to Tharja (until then that's Minerva's job).
If I ever blew that many orbs and didn't get anything I wanted I'd be crushed.
Most I ever spent was 60 orbs to get Ninian and I thought that was a lot.
How do you tell which heroes are the bonus heroes? The sprites are kinda small.
We just look at the sprites. Dunno what to tell you there lol. Just so you know, using a bonus hero fully doubles your Arena score, so if you haven't been doing that, that might explain why you're starved for feathers.
I knew the bonus hero thing was a thing, but I find it difficult to tell who's who.
I am not the only one with this problem.

Because I feel like sharing, here are my Nino Kills Everyone Diaries from tonight.
Here we have a cute vanilla team. Sheena wants it first cuz she's up front and armored. A good equation for dead.
Now I can't leave Nino there because Marth and his nasty sword will kill her. So I have Ninian dance her and whoops, Marth is dead too.
Next turn. Will Anna and Sharena fare any better?
No. Okay next battle. Here we have a Lucina, the big bad red with the high speed.
Deader than dead. I don't want to overextend so I end the turn. Now I see that Kagero can oneshot my Nino due to her infantry hating ways. Well she can't kill my Nino if my Nino oneshots her first.
I don't want to draw this out so I have Takumi kill the Fae while my Ninian moves in to tank the Sharena, which she does admirably. Result, maximum killtitude.

Well clearly this guy took a wrong turn somewhere and ended up in the wrong fucking neighborhood cuz this is Nino Country baby.

That is an entirely viable option.
You could compensate your Nino with Darting Blow, but if you have the components for Horse Emblem you might as well.
