Launch a strike with so little preparation that diplomats are finding out from TV news, nobody knows whether Russia was informed or not, and the President can't even give a live statement because he's at a location where they aren't possible?

No, no president would ever have done that before.

Yeah, that's why I don't buy the equivocating with Hillary here. This was done in such haste, seems messy and more like a PR move for Trump to show that he won't let people go over HIS red line. I guess we'll see what happens now... I hate the situation in Syria and think something should have been done, but I have NO confidence in Trump and his admin to competently do anything about it.

I don't get why people are getting so work up about this, apprently Obama attacking Libya's government and military and supporting Syrian rebels with training and arms is alright, but Trump order bombings of Syrian airfields is going too far?

There are unbelievable mental gymnastics used to defend Obama/Clinton but criticize Trump

He's stll an idiot who went about it the wrong way, but retaliating against a chemical attack and destroying the infrastructure used to facilitate the attack is something I'd want any of my leaders to do.

People lose credibility when they can't acknowledge that this move in a vacuum was in line with what a lot of Presidents and presidential candidates would have done. You can hate on the repercussions of a move like this, but you can't hate on the move itself unless you have a well thought out argument.

Trump is right about this one thing.

People need to realize this and stop rationalizing the idea of not getting involved, basically.

He's trying to show the Chinese president that he's hosting at the moment that he's a big boy. After the chemical weapons attack that the US is sure was Assad I'm sure he thinks it'll be justified.

The scary part is how Trump reacts to the fallout from this. He doesn't like to lose, and he seems to like doubling down on things. Sounds to me like a potential easy recipe for disaster and escalation.

Jesus former general on CNN predicting extreme escalation.

Fucking eh.

Anyone who thinks this ends here is fucking fool and I have no faith in Trump to actually think things through and take briefings.

He responds only to Fox news and what he sees on TV

Big day for Trump:

1. Busts a Democratic Filibuster against his SCOTUS nominee.
2. Gets a bizarre coincidental Green Light from Hillary Clinton to attack Assad's air bases.
3. Attacks Assad's airbases shortly thereafter.

Fuck is going on? It's like crazy pills and shit.

Actually, the part of the operation in Libya that Hillary had the most input in resulted in what most considered to be a good. We prevented Qadaffi from sending in his troops to slaughter a town full of people. This part of the conflict is not in debate: that was GOING to happen.

The problem with Libya wasn't the initial action, it was the follow-through. Basically, there was no follow-through, and ISIS filled the vacuum. And this was largely due to Obama wanting to quickly remove the US from the situation.

As an inhabitant of the city that was going to get burned to the ground, I was super fucking happy when I heard that the army was bombed as without it I could've been dead for 6 years now.

Please stop replying to the Rick and Morty gif, we all know it was in bad taste and you're just giving it more attention.

Military strikes can and should be complicated projects that require the most foolproof evidence in order to carry out. After that botched Yemen raid I have no faith that this was the case.

It's too early to tell what the result of this will be, but Trump has already given precedent for firing off the hip and getting the wrong people killed. Why people are giving him the benefit of the doubt here is beyond me.

We won't really know the ramifications for this until the dust settles a bit.

If there are few casualties, little to no reaction from Russia, and it results in Assad being ousted, then it could end up looking favorable for him. He'll be praised for thinking quickly and taking decisive action - and Trump will bring it up constantly.

On the other hand, if any number of things end up being fucked and it turns out this hasty decision was made in poor judgement, then yea....

Considering his standing, he may have made a safe decision, but I don't think we'll really know for a few days.

We can all be happy knowing that all possible airfields in Syria have been taken care of so no more chemical attacks can be launched ever again.

I don't get why people are getting so work up about this, apparently Obama attacking Libya's government and military and supporting Syrian rebels with training and arms is alright, but Trump order bombings of Syrian airfields is going too far?

Russia basically wanted US to stay out of it, likely because they may have troops there, while it is a single airfield, this is sending a message that Russia ain't gonna like.

This would have been a mistake even if HIllary had done it. What the fuck is even the gameplan? Regime change or just "don't do that again?" Who the fuck trusts Trump not to fuck this up?

Can you say with 100% certainty that airbase had anything to do with the chemical attack? No? Then don't shoot 70 MISSILES at it.
Whether or not intelligence shows that they flew from this base or not, it still eliminates 1/7 airbases that they could have launched from.

Now go destroy the others I'd say.

If Clinton would have done the same thing, maybe a lot of the people would have been cheering right now.

I am 100 % against Trump and american imperialism, and the iraqi war.
But i believe that in that case, it's better than to just look the Syrian people being slaughtered.

What if I hate on it no matter which President or hypothetical President would have done it.

Nunes stepped aside though. Even on his best day bad shit happens for him.

You really want this mother fucker to lead the charge on this? Is everything fixed now or is this just the beginning? Are we going to start taking in refugees or are we going to continue with the morally abhorrent cognitive dissonance of leaving them to deal with the horrors of their home while we, probably, begin dropping our own bombs on their heads.

Bomb the shit out of them. You've got to get their families. Yeah, king islamophobe is here to liberate the oppressed population of Syria.

THE STATE DEPARTMENT AND NSC WERENT INFORMED

WHAT THE FUCK

Yeah but Syria is bad tho

This is what Obama would have done if Russia hadn't stepped in to ask Assad to destroy his chemical weapons.

Of course Trump was going to call of a strike, it's the perfect opportunity to tell people "Look! You don't cross my red line, unlike weak Obama.".

Russia probably doesn't care, it hasn't been clear how much they still support Assad, especially since Trump was elected, since they could probably agree with the US over who to replace Assad with.
