Nintendo Direct on April 12 (3PM PT, Switch/3DS, mainly Splarms)

More Neo Geo games = good.
Bayonetta Amiibo = awesome.
Amiibo retailer exclusive still = shit.

3DS games = good.

Switch stuff = Not bad? ARMS does nothing for me. Splatoon 2 is a maybe. Disgaea 5 is a yes. That Battle Chasers game looked good.

Payday 2 will be key. If that games sells really well, more ports will be coming. It will show if more than just Nintendo fans are interested in this powerful handheld.

On the one hand I'd like PD2 to sell well just so that people get more of the third party games they want.

But on the other hand it's PD2.

IMO this was the best Direct in ages. Extremely stoked for Battle Chasers, and downloading all the demos when they are available. Wish the new joycons were orange, but the yellow look pretty nice too.

I have $50 in Amazon credit and am not sure what I'm going to use it on, but it'll definitely be a Switch preorder.

Oh Minecraft? The game that's been out for ages and many people don't give a damn about because it's already available on most platforms, including toasters?

Give me a break lol. Minecraft is cool to have on Switch, sure, but it's not anything to get excited about unless you're crazy about Minecraft already.

lmfao, the game that still charts in like every country every month. no biggie.

fucking people man.

People acting all disappointed that there was no web browser or Netflix info

If those are your console killer apps you might want to rethink things

This. If you're disappointment is there wasn't Netflix or a web browser announced then you need to check your priorities as a gamer. Seriously this was a good direct with game after game. I loved the format. It makes me excited for E3!

This is not E3.

ARMS looks amazing. I was probably going to get it day one, but now I know I am. I didn't think they'd have much to show off ...so that was impressive. That theme music is so damn good. I'm sold. Apart from that, the Amiibos and Fate musuo were pleasant surprises as well. Nothing as pleasant as seeing Minmin in action though. She is THICC.

Man, I'm not sure how I feel about the 3DS support well past the release of the switch. It's starting to feel a bit like they aren't confident in the switch as a handheld. We will see.

Some good games shown though, which is nice. I don't think I can have confidence in splatoon or arms or even mario kart until I hear more about the online service though. I already own the WII U versions of two of those games too though, so I'm not really in the market to buy them again unless I see something that really justifies the double dip. Portable MK8 is almost enticing enough, but I need one more kick.

Also, lol Ubisoft Monopoly.

What were people doing in this thread until now? Did people hype themselves up for a Arms/Spl2n and 3DS based Direct? I was genuinely surprised by the amount of titles they announced but I kept expectations way down.
Some people just won't learn. Its as simple as that.

ARMS was what caught my attention the most, definitely want to hear more about it and I'm curious for the first impressions/reviews.

Direct is ok. I'm not expecting Nintendo to drop any big announcement before E3.

Is it weird that I forgot E3 was in less than two months? Start of this year has been waiting for Switch, playing BotW, and avoiding most of the real world. Just looked at the date after seeing the E3 comments and went "Wow...that's soon".

There was a Yokai gameon the european stream, wasnt that YW2?

That was just some bonus coins for Yo-Kai Watch 2, a game that released last week over here in Europe (it's been out since September in the US).
The expanded updated version of that game was announced for this fall on the US stream.

On the one hand I'd like PD2 to sell well just so that people get more of the third party games they want.

But on the other hand it's PD2.

I know. But this and Skyrim will be the two examples publishers will be paying close attention to. For better or worse. I'm sure there are PD2 fans out there who'd be interested in an handheld version.

Oh Minecraft? The game that's been out for ages and many people don't give a damn about because it's already available on most platforms, including toasters?

Give me a break lol. Minecraft is cool to have on Switch, sure, but it's not anything to get excited about unless you're crazy about Minecraft already.

You mean the most important game the switch can get... You know how many parents will buy this for their kids now? (including probably eventually me)

Loved the format.

No Virtual Console really sucks though. I'm guessing it won't be launching until the Fall. At least I have tons of Neo Geo games to look forward to. Plus Namco Museum.

see having all the consoles makes this weird freakout people have about not enough games skews it for me.

I am deep in Persona 5, still need to beat Zelda and Nier. So June and July is great as I'll need the time.

Play games not systems. And yes not everyone is a lucky as I am...but if anyone expected the Switch to be able to be your main console year one...then well you lost.

All of the 3DS stuff is localization or games that must have been in development already, you can't just flip a port to switch...er switch and be all good. That takes resources and time..even if just a little. So you traded yours in...that sucks for you but that doesn't mean everyone did and they should just drop all support (they'd get shat on if they did...see the Wii and hell the Wii U). The 3DS is a console that did quite well so it deserves few swan songs; like it or not.

They legit told us what this direct was going to be about and yet people still are buttmad. E3 is two months away. If they still have fuckall then you can get antsy. Its year one of the console...relax.

Excellent direct. Although there were no megatons, or anything close to that really, what they showed off covered a wide variety of genres, 1st and 3rd party games, and really fills out what's coming to 3DS and Switch through July/August. Based on what we saw here, I bet we'll see another Mini-Direct just before E3, like they did in 2015. Nintendo must have tons to talk about, both in terms of games and services, so imagine E3 will be a gigantic info dump.

You mean the most important game the switch can get... You know how many parents will buy this for their kids now? (including probably eventually me)

The fact that it'll be the Minecraft you can play at home 4 player split screen, as well as take with you while also still having 4 player splitscreen is huge imo.

Payday 2 came from way out in left field

Ill take it. Never played it before, in fact most games from around the time that came out I missed out on due to owning a fucking wii u and nothing else,s o bring on the last gen ports, ill eat them up at a decent price.

Watching folks try and downplay Minecraft is pretty great. I forgot that if it doesn't appeal to gaffers then it may as well not exist.

Oh Minecraft? The game that's been out for ages and many people don't give a damn about because it's already available on most platforms, including toasters?

You have absolutely no idea what you're talking about.

Yo-kai Watch 2: Psychic Specters wasn't in the European stream at all.
Level-5 sure are drawing out the western releases of Yo-Kai Watch games.
If they keep up this pace we won't get the third version of YW 3 here in Europe for three years!
And that's if the series survives long enough in the west to get to that point and if they even see a point to releasing a 3ds game at that point.

.

We got some details on Arms and Splatoon 2, release dates, and a few other smaller surprises. Just as advertised, just as expected. The direct was fine

Lot's of good stuff for me. I was already in for Splatoon 2 and Arms, but i'm glad ther're still a fuckton of 3DS games.

Still love my 3ds.
The 3DS has had some crazy legs but I'm definitely feeling it's in it's decline. After Fire Emblem, Pikmin, the two Monster Hunter games and maybe Ever Oasis I think I am pretty much ready to say goodbye. Time to let the Switch step in and take it's place as the lead handheld platform.

Solid direct and basically what I expected. Mostly focused on Arms and Splatoon 2, although I was expecting more information on single-player modes. A lot of 3DS games announcements makes sense so they can focus more on Switch during E3, and what Switch games they did talk about are mostly coming out during the Summer. E3 will be where they talk about games coming out later in the year and next year.

Nothing major software wise..

..but Mario Kart 8 in April, Minecraft in May, ARMS in June and Splatoon 2 in July..should keep the momentum of the system going (providing they intend to market most of them heavily).

Very pleased to see 4 player mode in ARMS..1 on 1 always made it look a bit barren.

I believe Minecraft Switch is their "big May title".

Then we get Arms in June, Splatoon 2 in July, and by E3 we'll know what he next few months have in story. A big game a month.

I really wish that they would have met physical/digital on the same day. People get so confused over this stuff...

ARMS looks amazing. I was probably going to get it day one, but now I know I am. I didn't think they'd have much to show off ...so that was impressive. That theme music is so damn good. I'm sold. I'm curious what the combo tech is like since you can have an affinity that can stun and knock around at the same time.

(knock down is probably for like wakeup setups and whatever)

I liked what I saw.

Man, like many here I really wish at least one of those Kirby games was Switch bound, though I suppose the franchise has a history of appearing late in the life of systems.

Direct was pretty great, even if the Highlights were 2 Fast 4 Me (but I liked it).

JP Direct was better as always.DQ 11, Lady Layton, Nights of Azure 2, Snack World, Dai Gyakuten Saiban 2 (;-;) and Seran Kagura (lol).

Also finally MonHun Stories and Culdcept Revolt release date! Ever Oasis also looking great.

ARMS looks fantastic, Min Min 2 Cute 5 Me.

Splatoon 2 looks nice as well.

I know. But this and Skyrim will be the two examples publishers will be paying close attention to. For better or worse. I'm sure there are PD2 fans out there who'd be interested in an handheld version.

I think Skyrim will be the one publishers will pay attention to more, maybe they'll look to PD2 to see if their lower budget titles have an audience on Switch, but Skyrim will be more of an indication of what kind of audience there is on switch for the bigger budget western games.

Which is a shame really because I have 0 interest in Skyrim, I've considered buying it just to support the fact that they're bringing it to switch but that would just be stupid.

If it was something like Dark Souls I'd be there day 1, even if I do have it on 2 other systems.

So no big title for May?

MK8 in April, Arms in June and Splatoon in July. Also beyond that we only know of Mario Odyssey and Xenoblade 2 for 2017. Hoping they have some stuff held back for E3, like Retro's new game. Either way that's a pretty decent launch year, especially if Xenoblade 2 is a worldwide release.

If you're counting Nintendo-published/-involved stuff, there's also Fire Emblem Warriors that's announced.

I'm pretty sure E3 will be where we hear about the 2H 2017 games (I expect at least one, if not two, new software to be announced by then, chiefly SSB Switch and Pokémon), but yeah, right now, there are a lot of unknowns after July.

Yikes. ARMS still doesn't impress me, Splatoon 2 is more of the same plus a new weird and confusing mode and the other games announced for the Switch where... ehhhhhhh. Super glad I decided to wait on purchasing a Switch since it's almost 500 bucks here in Mexico. Saves us, Mario Odyssey!!

Same, very satisfied with this direct
